 A heavy sigh resounded from Monroe as he trailed onto the beach, feeling the warm sand rise between his toes. The sound of the waves crashing was the only thing he could hear at the moment as the sun began to set and all the creatures transitioned from their busy day lives to sleeping happily in their dens. To Monroe it seemed like the day had just begun, but already it was time for everyone to finish their days work. Time flew too fast, sometimes.
He frowned as a bird squawked and landed in her nest a few feet away from him. He could see her babies great her hungrily and yearned for his own family, one he'd lost long ago. That was so long ago. "Time flies," he grunted. It seemed to be a recurring fact today. Perhaps someone was trying to teach him a lesson. If so, he refused to listen.

The sound of words echoed around her ears, as they pricked forward to find its source. Pure white eyes slowly blinked open and scanned the terrain until they rested upon their keeper. A young male lion, or at least younger than her it seemed. Twitched a long red tail in slight amusement, the lioness curled a paw about one of her eggs which lay nestled against her stomach like cubs despite the fact that they could not suckle.
"Yes, time does fly." she spoke in a deep yet oddly soothing voice. Adjusting her equally red wings, she sat up only slightly, so that she was laying on her belly. "You seem troubled." she stated, noting the pained and angered expression upon his face.
To Cherie, night time was the best time. No more cursed sun. Just the stars and moon. She loved the peacefulness of dark hours. It was so calm, so quieting, and so ... alone.
Her mate had wandered off somewhere, leaving her rather bored actually....

Monroe furrowed his brows and turned to look around him as a voice answered him. He'd been alone in coming here, so he was surprised to spot the red female clinging lovingly to the egg. Weren't dragons the ones who laid eggs? Though he couldn't ever recall a dragon egg with wings.
"Ah," He frowned. "Everyone is troubled in their own ways. I'm sure something is troubling you right now, hm?" He let out a small smile, one of uncertainty. His hat fell low over his eyes as he looked down. "It's a cure for such trouble that sets us apart. Some have it, some don't. Some think they do, and pretend to mosey about happily in their lives."
Looking back up at her he bowed his head in a gentlemanly gesture. "I'm Monroe."

Cherie smiled and dipped her head. "My name is Cherie Bloodrain. But you may call me whatever you wish. I am not picky." she stated as she narrowed her eyes at him and thought carefully about his statement.
"Perhaps something is bothering me. Perhaps there is nothing. I'm not so sure I've decided yet." she chuckled slightly, glancing back down to her eggs as she nuzzled one gently. "Its strange....to think how my children will be. Half dragon, half lion." she said out loud, mostly to herself. "Do forgive my ramblings." she uttered in apology as her gaze drifted back towards Monroe.

Monroe offered her another tentative smile. "I think Cherie will do. Short and sweet, and just as lovely."
As she nuzzled an egg her watched her curiously, ears perking as she spoke. "Half lion and half dragon?" She frowned in confusion. He hadn't considered that possible. It did explain the strange appearance of the eggs, however. "I apologize should this offend you, but are you mated to a dragon?"
He'd heard of such things on rare occasions, but never had he seen it. He wanted to get near the eggs, to examine them closer, but he knew better. Such a male as himself would be threatening to any mother, especially since he'd just randomly apepeared and the only thing she knew about him was his name.

Cherie blinked at Monroe. She could guess at the thoughts crossing his mind, and though she could assure him it did not offend her, she still felt the need to curl about her eggs tighter. "I did, yes. I suppose one can't help who they fall in love with." she said almost dreamily as she thought about Jalil - tall, large, mysterious, dangerous, and yet so tender beneath his tough exterior.
"Though are bodies look different, we are the same. Demons sleep inside us, and in the end that is what drew us together." her tail curled about an egg as she did so. Gently nudging the eldest or first born egg forward, she timidly revealed it more so the lion could examine it, though her front paws rested about either side of it protectively. It was silver, with black wing like structures on the outside of the shell, and white patterns just like her own swirled around the outside. Clearly this egg had gotten it's grandparents colorings unlike the rest of her eggs with more closely resembled her and her equally red mate.
"Naturally, I am more protective than he is." she grinned in a sort of apology as though she really felt no need to explain herself, she could not help but do so. "You may come closer if you wish. I have not sensed nothing harmful about you as of yet." she stated in a gentle tone, thought it was meant as a warning.
