well first there are a few different red rings of death. theres one, two, or three red lights. one usually means hardware error. with that you will need to send it in. two means its overheating. if you know how to open your xbox and dont mind breaking the warenty you can do that and check the fans and heat sinks. three is i guess the most common. its something to do with the x clamps on the motherboard. you need to take them off and use screws instead. either way as long as you still have the warenty which they did extend to three years instead of one, they will pay for shipping. they send you a sticker to send it ups. just go to xbox.com/support i think thats the link. and for fixing yourself just lookit up on youtube. thats where i learned everything about the xbox.

Is it no longer under Warranty? Its a 3 year warranty for Red rings... It won't cost you anything to send it in if you got it within 3 years
