Before you stands a pad in a wide open room. Raised on a dais, a step is required to get on- and when you do the pad you stand on lights up. Circular, it offers enough room for several to stand here despite you being here alone. A column of light engulfs you as a holographic interface appears before you.

First one screen, then several. After a few moments, a set of images appear before you, each for a separate section of your own body. A whole host of options in each pane are available as you search through the screens. Responding to gestures and touches, when you choose an item, the hologram of it appears over your clothes as if you put the item on. One by one the system allows you to choose clothes, armor, weapons, accessories, a whole wardrobe of your choice. Just within reach is a separate display keeping track of your preferences.

When you are pleased with the overall look of this holographic dressing room, it asks for confirmation. Choosing 'Yes', the system shows you a three-dimensional image of yourself slowly spinning before you to show the overall look of your choices. A gentle female voice speaks aloud

"Combat preferences ready. Prepare for battle."

:Introduction:

This is a recreational arena to be used for one-on-one combat. No prizes or requirements are here yet. Just a place to fight and enjoy yourself. No storyline is thought up, merely a place to test RP ability against your opponent in combat.

:Rules:

1. No godmodding: You can and will be hit occasionally. It happens in fighting.

2. No excessive flaming: Taunting is expected, perhaps even some rudness. Being an a** for the sake of being one is not to be tolerated.

3. Fights can be as long as 20 posts standard: This offers a decent 10 posts each. A good rule of thumb is to enjoy yourselves, but around post 8 or 9 for each combatant is a good time to either close up, or make a dramatic final attack. This leaves a post for conclusion.

4. Keep a running count of your posts: As your fight progresses, the courtesy of keeping count of your own posts would be highly appreciated.

5. The point of this place is recreation: Don't take it too seriously if you lose, and don't gloat too hard if you win. I want this place to be fun, not stressful.

6. Wait your turn: For the sake of clarity, keep to one fight at a time. Other sporadic posts as spectators will be allowed, but do not override one fight with another or your work/posts will be deleted. Having several fights going on at once can be very confusing and ruin the battle. Simply put your name in for next, and on a first-come first-serve basis the thread will be made available to others.

In order to start a combat, all that is required is to make a post here in the thread, or to let the thread owner (Magni Prime) know via PM. Either is acceptable. Once done, one needs a character.

Character creation is very simple. Use your avatar! Either using items in your own inventory, or using TekTek.org, create an avatar to use for combat. If you use the avatar creator, it will provide you with a list after you save the avatar of what is used. Should you use your own inventory, please list what you are wearing at the time. Include a picture of your avatar as you wish it to be for the fight scene for reference.

Currently there are seven arenas available. One can either be chosen by purpose, or through random number generation. The easiest method for random matters is to make a post using the number generator, then edit that post once you are sure of what environment given. Politeness would say that the challenged gets to choose the environment, but each fight must be done via the combatants.

Once the avatar is created, post it in the first post of your fight.

Specific order

1. Let Magni Prime know you wish to fight, the Challenger Vs. Challenged.

2. Make a post either using the Random Generated Number function, #1-7 for the arena, or pick a favored one. In this first post you should include a picture of the avatar to be used and a listing of items. TekTek.org will give a pic that links to the item list if that is used.

3. If a random arena was made, then use the edit function of your own post if a random arena is taken to bring that into an RP.

4. Fights are until one cannot fight any longer, or quits.

Any difficulties can be brought to myself, or any other person that offers to help resolve issues.

:Arenas:

1. Grassy meadow: A vast plain of shallow hills covered with foot-high grasses. A gentle breeze flows over the area as sporadic clouds pass lazily by overhead. The long grasses look almost like a verdant sea, moving in waves with the wind

2. Zero Gravity Vortex: A pocket of atmosphere lost in space, Asteroids and other space debris float aimlessly in this place somehow able to allow breath.

3. Dense forest: A thick copse of trees, ancient and lush with life. The animals are all gone now, sensing what is to come. Still, this place is crossed with several paths made by animals traversing the area. The trees are almost impossibly tall, their canopy drenching the area in shadows and half-light leaving any ground plants short and covering the ground with mosses and lichen.

4. Massive Canyon: Over centuries a small river has carved a gouge in the ground. Several hundred feet down, the wind has helped to turn a crack into a crevasse worthy of legend. The river still flows, shallow at the moment for this is the dry season. Only three feet at it's deepest for the moment, it runs slow and thick with mud in a deceptively powerful flow. All up and down the rocky walls are cliffs and jagged outcroppings able to be climbed, yet unwelcoming

5. Tropical island: Lost in a vast ocean, a shelf of sand has risen out of the sea. Large enough for a small city, it has flourished with plant life. Tall palm trees, huge-leaved plants, grasses, and anything else that can find it's way here create a natural paradise. Surrounding the island is a fine sandy beach and crystal clear waters gently lapping at the beach, the salty air pushing the tide along.

6. Dark cave: Deep in a mountainside is the entrance to a network of caverns. Dark and varied, some caves are barely big enough to crawl through, others wide enough for several men to walk side by side. Honeycombed with these passages are large chambers of open area within the mountain. The current occupants of these caves and tunnels are stalactites, stalagmites, the occasional column, and loose rock ranging from pebbles to boulders. This is a maze of stone, complete with ledges and passages to confuse the greatest tactician.

7. Post-apocalyptic urban area: What was once a great bustling metropolis now lies silent and desolate. Some catastrophe long forgotten left this place deserted. Signs are faded beyond recognition, and buildings have begun to crumble into dust. They still stand tall in the wind that whips up dust devils in the mute surrender to time. Streets are littered with rubble, and more than a few buildings are now crumbling piles of material. Time is now the only occupant, danger it's offering to visitors.

Post 1

The world flashes from that pedestal, and opens out before him as a broad plain. Gently rolling hills meet his eyes that seem to go on forever. A soft breeze floats across the grass, giving an almost aquatic look to the area. There are highs and lows about, but few are able to offer cover- if any. The grasses might hide a person if nobody noticed the large and obvious 'hole' in the plants where a person might lay. The air is sweet in his nose carrying a calming scent devoid of pollution or the acrid touch of man.

Still, he is here for a reason. Challenged, he has come. In his hand, his sword almost quivers from his trembles. Excitement flows through his veins as freely as vitae. From behind the mask his eyes narrow as he looks around, the tail behind him twitching underneath his cloak. The last time he was here was an epic battle with a friend- and this time will not be much different. He knows that he can't hope for better. Equal terms with one of the founders of the Refuge . . . a former captain . . . his predecessor.

The mask only covers the top half of his face, so his voice is unencumbered as he bellows out into the open air. "TANA!!! IT'S TIME!!!" As his voice echoes in the air, flowing across the landscape, he smiles and concentrates on his senses. Tana could be anywhere . . . Best to follow his own advice once given: always be ready.

Post One (Two of twenty).
===

A world of green and blue surrounded him, the pedestal upon which he stood engulfed him in this all too alien scene. It was like Spring as he'd never felt before; as such he took a few moments to breathe in the fresh aromas of grass and pollen. Gentle breezes soothed his skin as the goosebumps rose from anticipation. This was the fight, the one he'd been looking forward too since years gone past.

A successor, and the current captain stood waiting for him. Kneeling down into the grass, he lit the lantern in which he kept an extra compartment of oil. With the still lit match, he pulled out a pre-rolled cigarette and lit it in accordance. It had been a while since his last cigarette, but this was a special occasion. As the sun loomed overhead a blue umbrella opened over to keep the rays from over-burning the flesh it beams down upon.

Walking gently through the grass, Talon came into sight. There was no need to hide. Too much respect was in the atmosphere, as potent as stench. Yes, indeed it was time and he responded to the call, "I'm here, Talon. I have indeed longed for this chance." He continued walking slowly and came to a halt not more than ten meters distance from his comrade.

post 2, 3/20

"Talon? Old formality, mon capitan. Still, we are here to respect each other in many ways." A smile on his face, he feels the eyes of his mask smolder and smoke. A quick glance tries to size up his opponent. A swirl of petals- likely an optical shield for later. A simliar blade means he will see the offenses and defenses of that weapon with ease. That coat can't be too dangerous on it's own, or the tattoos. The wild cards are that umbrella and the lantern. Both are a mystery, and at the moment wild cards are dangerous.

Holding his sword at his hip as if to draw, Magni pauses for a moment as a breath of wind blows over the field. Then he leaps forward with a variant of iaijutsu- the art of a lightning fast draw. Trusting in his defenses, the masked warrior makes a shallow slash starting towards Tana's midsection. The attack is a feint however, for as a follow to the impossibly fast move Magni thrusts his blade forward at Tana's hip . . . aiming for that lantern. It is lit with fire, so the fuel might make an interesting collateral damage move.

Post 2 (4 of 20)

A lunge directed straight to his midsection, there was little time to react to such a vibrant display of skill. Yet there was instinct enough to bring the umbrella down as it should have been, to sweep the attack. In a swift follow through, his entire body jumped into a horizontal shift as the umbrella made a downwards crescent motion to block the attack. Yet it was a feint.

Not predicted, there was no time for conscious evasion. Hoping the leap to the side was enough, he felt the blade brush against his arm, tearing off a good portion of his sleeve as the attack commenced. A trickle of blood fell with the sleeve, yet his grip on the lantern stayed firm. "Ay~ya, Niisan. So fast!" He muttered as his sandals skidded slightly upon landing.

It was time to use the lantern to it's fullest. Before the match he had added an extra oil compartment in case the fuel went out, yet it can also be used in combat. Forcefully striking the lantern to the ground, the fire lit the compartment to make a wall of fire between the two. The Lantern Wall was in effect. Using the possible momentum of the wall, he pulled in the fanned part of the umbrella to close it. Storing some energy, he lunged forwards at Talon and as he neared him opened the umbrella to release the energy stored. "Koumorigasa Houmen!! (Umbrella Release)" Hopefully he could at least manage minimal damage to savor the battle.

As is the case with most things, there is a compromise at work. Magni's feint almost succeeded in spearing that lantern, but did get a light hit on Tana instead. While his instincts about the lantern having a combat use are made valid, there is no comfort as his eyes widen behind the bone mask. A wall of flame explodes into existence after Tana's impressive leap to block a direct attack. Obscured by the flames, Magni can't see what is going on for a moment. Analyzing the flames quickly, he realizes that they won't last long, but the sudden orange hue to the grasses is what worries him more.

Then, distracted by his view of the flames, he did not see the follow up attack. Bursting through the flames like a demon comes Tana, his . . . umbrella leading? The confusion was all the opponent needed. Sword arm away from Tana, all he can do in the split second is turn to face the attack as it is called out. Striking him dead in the chest, Magni flies back a bit and singed as residual flames lick at him.
"Uwaaaaa!"

Skidding to a stop, Magni is glad for his yoroi. Taking the brunt of the damage, only his cloak seems worse for wear with a few singed spots from flame trails. Looking up, his eyes narrow at what he sees. Grassland . . . in flames. "I may look the demon, but did you need the hellfire?" Using the word 'demon' as inspiration, Magni quickly sheathes his sword and removes the demonbow from his back. He is a good distance away, so at least a couple shots might hit home. Employing strength of will, the wrought iron bow suddenly fires arrows of energy at Tana. Three beams of crimson, each about two feet in length come at him. All three aimed at his chest and shoulder area, hopefully that umbrella will not stop them.

Behind Tana, the flames are burning up the oil, but that intense heat has ignited some of the surrounding grasses. What was once a wall of flame is becoming a circle expanding outward, bringing with it a very real heat and environmental danger to the fighters.

Post 3 (6 of 20)

Of course, how could he have been so blind; Talon was wearing armor. There was no time to kick himself, however; as the fire behind him spread. A bit of hindsight led him to believe that perhaps it wasn't the best idea, but it was too late for regret. As the fire slowly encroached around the two combatants, Tana leaves the umbrella open in his left hand; he leans it diagonally forward to prepare for the next attack. "The Hellfire is a little much, I admit. But what's a little more danger, Nii-san?"

Soon enough, he witnessed Talon bring his bow out and with it accordingly fire three crimson arrows. Fortunately this time, unlike the previous lightning strike, there was enough time for calculated evasion. Identical to the first, Tana jumps horizontally to the left, swinging his umbrella to take the attacks as he makes a single swirl in his leap.

Landing and skidding in an all too familiar way, Tana responds by taking out the orchids in his hair. The two mini throwing stars fall from his hands; the orchids being what held them in. As they fell into his dominant right hand, he does a 360 degree turn, throwing them as he faces Talon again. Aimed at his legs, Tana was sure they would be dodged.

The fire continues to spread, and in his peripheral vision he notices a semi-circle has grown, spreading more and more around the two.

Tana's quip does explain something. He hadn't thought this through much. With the flames growing and expanding, this place has become a deathtrap. Still, no use in quitting! Magni's shots fly true, but Tana again manages a dodge. Doing a near identical move as before, the bowman calls out "Again?! Try something new!" As the taunt is called, Tana messes with his hair and then does a spin. Confused a bit, the arrows pause.

Then the fire actually saves him. As the unseen stars fly, they glint the light of flames for a moment. Leaping high, Magni tucks his legs up under him and the unmistakeable sound of fabric ripping again comes from his cloak. Angered that his beloved cloak is getting more damage, Magni bares his teeth and begins to fire arrows in Tana's general direction in a spreadfire pattern.
"DODGE THIS!" Landing in the grass, he begins to move while firing as fast as the bow will allow, running to his right to keep parallel with the encroaching flames hoping to pin down his opponent in a pincer move.

Post 4 (8 of 20)

Doing what he can to keep from getting caught on fire, Tana must also keep from getting shot through from the arrows Talon fires at him. Tana decided that his refractory shield must be put to use, though he mentally gave Talon some praise for making him use the petals so soon. He leaped as high as he could straight vertically, arrows taking off his sandals and shredding the bottom of his coat to Hell. No more than three times was he slightly struck by the arrows, as they caught his right leg. The fire had spread underneath of him too, after his leap. Turning the umbrella to point downwards, he stored energy again within. Using Koumorigasa Houmen (Umbrella Release), he landed and a decent-sized space had its fire instantly blown out.

Yet more arrows were being fired as he moved. Dropping the umbrella and catching it on his belt right in front of the groin, Tana forced his hands forward as he ran straight towards Talon. The once swirling petals formed a light pink shield over his hands as he bludgeoned oncoming arrows, though at a cost. Each block left the refractory shield with less petals. As he neared his opponent he attempted to shoot him with the remaining petals, shouting as he did so.
"Yasashii Tama! (Graceful Bullet)"

With no attention given to whether or not his attack worked, Tana kept running. But instead of towards Talon, he began to run parallel with him. Drawing both of his katana, despite their difference in length, Tana was ready for continuation. With his sleeve, he wiped the sweat from his brow as he ran; the fire along with the temperature was rising.
