Asenath: "Jaroon!" A small female's voice called as it came ever nearer. She had a smirk on her face, eyes naarrowed. She knew he was supposed to babysit him and she loved thinking of ways to torture him. The pale young lionness pounced upon his tail with a wide show of her teeth. "Dad says you're gonna watch me today!" She said proudly, pratically growing horns from her head.
Eyal: "Jaron." This time it was Eyal, his feirce eyes focused down on the male as he came up behind his prized daughter. "Would you mind watching Asenath? She got her sisters covered in dung and they need washed." His voice hinted that he better not mind it.
Jaron: It had been such a lovely dream...
Had been. Jaron's brow knotted as he fought to drown out the eager squeal of a young female, trying to hold onto the dream instead.
He groaned, waved a paw in the air, and rolled himself over. The paw drifted down to rest over his eyes. Even as Eyal's voice piped in, Jaron fought to ignore it. How rude! He needed his sleep. "Mmmmm....."
Asenath "Whoa!" She let out as she was flipped along with him. She let out a giggle and jumped onto the older male's stomach. "We can play now! All day! Won't that be fun! Wake up!"
Eyal: Eyal rolled his eyes. Lazy boy.He never did anything but sleep. "Good. I'll be back at sunset...and if anything happens to her." He let out a deep growl by the boy's head. "You''ll be in deep deep trouble."

Jaron: (5:52:28 PM): "PTFHEW!" Jaron lurched upwards as the female cub forced the air from his gut. He swatted at her weakly and gulped at the air, desperate to replenish his lost wind. Damn! Always something. Eyal: (5:55:15 PM): Eyal rolled his eyes. "Prince..." He grunted then started to return to Siku. After all how much trouble could she get in with a Prince who never moved?
Asenath grinned in a heartfelt friendly way. "C'mon Jaron! Let's go explore! I'm bored and dad never lets me go anyhere!" She crept forward to put her nose against his and stare pleadingly at him. "It'll be fun!" Jaron: (5:57:58 PM): Jaron groaned and gave the female a sharp shove to get her weight off of him. "What?! Why are you making me baby-sitter! I have-" He paused as his maw pulled open to release a long, whining yawn, "I have a lot of things to do today." Asenath: (5:59:17 PM): The male turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow. "If those things can't be done with a cub at your side then I suggest you not do them. Just watch her. You could use someone who has more energy then you to liven you up for once." Jaron: (6:02:53 PM): "Coming from an old geizer." Jaron rolled himself to a sit, his hind legs sprawled as his front paws rubbed at his heavy eyelids. It was always something. He never liked getting up before high-sun. Asenath: (6:06:05 PM): The 'old geizer' gave him a full display of his teeth and powerful muscles before continuing on his way.One day something would knock sense into that boy.
The cub tilted her head not quite understanding what just took place. She instead focused on then now starting to awaken tail and began to pounce on it. "You do want to play with me, don't you Jaron? I know a bunch of fun stuff we can do!" She stated before entrapping his fluff in her claws. "I'm gonna learn to be Head Huntress someday, isn't that neat?" Jaron: (6:13:07 PM): Jaron sneered and flashed his tongue in return. When Eyal's back was turned, of course. That'd show him.
He yelped as the female cub fell on his tail. It sent him back into a squirming, flailing fit of paws and limbs. "Getoffgetoff!" He pleaded. Damnit- that hurt! Stupid cub. Asenath: (6:15:41 PM): Jaron wasn't listening to her. He never did. He just yelped and grunted at her for doing things he didn't like. She abanoned his tail and let out a wistful sigh. There'd be no playing with him... but if he wasn't going to pay attention either. Her eyes darted to the pride boarders annd she glanced back at him. Smirking she pushed herself to the ground and started to sneak through the tall grass in an attempt to escape. Jaron: (6:23:21 PM): Jaron held his tail in his paws and whimpered. It hurt....damn why did they always have to- "HEY!" He rolled back to his paws and leapt out. His body missed hers by a foot- but his paw managed to slam her tail down against the ground. Sweet justice! "You're not going anywhere! Your dad'll kill me!" Asenath: (6:35:50 PM): Dang! She'd been caught! She turned back and let out a loud yelp of pain as he got her tail. "I wasn't! You weren't gonna play so I was going to play by myself!" Jaron: (6:38:34 PM): "You're not allowed! That' dangerous...there's-..." He paused and took a quick look around, "There's....VULTURES out there. They're real scary, reallly. They take little girl cubs away and feed them to their masters! I've seen it." Asenath: (6:40:25 PM): She gives him a rather flat look. Not scared in the least. If anything she wanted to SEE these vultures. "But if a strong lion like you goes with me then I'll be safe, right? You're too big for a vulture to carry away!" Jaron: (7:04:48 PM): His ears rolled back. He'd fallen for that once before, it wasn't going to happen again. Babysitting was a complicated and delicate art. One that he hadn't mastered. It meant false enthusiasm and way more energy than he was willing to put out. "Look...why don't we.....watch the warriors trian?" Asenath: (7:06:01 PM): The cub sighed slightly. "I watch dad train them all the time. Its boring. They won't let me join them..." She tried experimentally to get him off her tail. She'd have to trick him is what. "Why don't you train with them?" Jaron: (7:07:45 PM): <"I'm too young still." He grumped and slowly pulled her back towards him, <"And so are you for that matter. Why don't we hunt some bugs or mice? That's fun right?" Asenath: (7:09:29 PM): At the mention of hunting her ears swilved toward him. He'd found the code word apparently. "Well I think you're old." She said sticking out her tongue then grinning. "You can find some mice? I got a butterfly yesterday but mice are fast! Can we?" Jaron: (7:36:25 PM): "I'm not -old-. I'm nearing my prime." He stood himself up, released her tail, and puffed his chest out. "And of course we can. I'm a master hunter. I bet YOU didn't know that." Asenath: (7:37:55 PM): Well if he didn't have her attention before he certainly did now. She turned to look up at him with a pleasently surprised look. "Really!? I thought hunting was a girl's job! Can you show me? I want to see you hunt something! Can you hunt a zebra?" Jaron: (7:40:52 PM): "It is a girl's job, but it's a good start to fighting. A leader has to know all the jobs." He gave a sage nod. At least if he held her attention, he'd not loose sight of her. "And I'll show you- if you promise not to be bad. Promise?"> Asenath: (7:44:40 PM): "Wow... that must be so cool!" The female suddenly stood up as straight as she could. "I won't do anything bad! Promise!" She said rather proudly, holding the same stern face as her father. ATTENTION (7:45:43 PM): Transfer complete: whydoyoualwaysforgiveme.jpg. Jaron: (7:46:08 PM): <"Alright. But no Zebras. Zebras are for experts only. I don't want to overwhealm you on your first hunt." He offered a casual grin, turned, and began for the boarder of the territory. "Best place to find mice is where the grass is dry. They eat the seeds." Asenath: (7:46:42 PM): (Asenath: <3) Jaron: (7:47:04 PM): (( D'awww )) Asenath: (7:47:47 PM): "Wow! Really? My dad said once he took down an entire herd!" He'd been exagerating by the youngster didn't know that. She padded after him watching him with wide impressed eyes. "Really? When I'm a good hunter will you take me out to hunt zebra? Please Jaron? I'll be real good!" Jaron: (8:14:47 PM): "Yeah right." Jaron muttered. Eyal, an entire herd?! He'd have to file that one away for future blackmail. Talk about bad hunting stories. And he was pushing it with just one Zebra.
<"Yeah yeah. When you're a real hunter."> Asenath: (8:16:04 PM): Asenath stared up at Jaron and put her head high. Oh she'd show him. She'd be the best hunter he'd ever known! She'd take down an entire herd too! She brushed between his legs a bit as they came upon the dryer grass. "Its a promise! I won't forget! Is this where the mice live?" Jaron: (8:18:40 PM): He lifted a paw and groaned as she rubbed against him. Girls... he'd never understand -why- the males were always busy going head-over-paws for them. They were so weird.
"Yeah, this is it. Now the secret to hunting mice is you have to be quiet." Asenath: (8:20:37 PM): The young lioness grinned up at him and noticed his mane was starting to come in in funny angles. "Quiet, got it..." She said as she hunkered down in the grass, instantly quieting. She'd watched the other huntress work on their skills. Low to the ground, creep quietly, don't make a sound. Jaron: (8:27:32 PM): He crouched down low as well. "Now...", he whispered, "Move when the wind does, so when they hear the grass move, they think it's the wind. When you see one- act quickly. Use your claws to trap them to the ground.". Asenath: (8:40:36 PM): She tried to mimic the way he was standing, her eyes narrowed in front of her. "Move with the wind..." She repeated inhaling deeply. She could do this! She let her claws slide out, testing the ground with them. "OK..." She said watching with squinted eyes to see the mice.
There was a small rustle as they moved around toward the pair. Jaron: (8:41:59 PM): Jaron tensed and narrowed his eyes as well. Their pelts were perfect for this sort of thing. The dry, dusty grass that grew on their boarders hid them perfectly. He'd killed plenty of time hunting mice- it wasn't much of a meal, but it kept him entertained.
Just wait...just wait.. Asenath: (8:47:49 PM): Asenath quivered as she tried to keep herself still. Just a bit more... She launched as soon as she saw a flash of gray. She was a smigen too early. He claws wrapped around the mouse but it easily wormed away from the novice just leaving its tail behind. "Ah!" She said jumping back. "I broke it!" Jaron: (8:48:51 PM): Jaron stood himself up and padded over to inspect her 'broken' kill. He blinked and winced. "...no....you ripped its tail off." He sighed and glanced around. "Well...it's bleeding. Follow the trail and put it out of its misery. We'd be poor hunters if we let something suffer." Asenath: (8:51:29 PM): "I didn't mean to! I was after the mouse!" She picked up the tail and started to follow the trail. "Are you mad?" Jaron: (8:52:41 PM): "No I'm not mad." He sighed and lowered his head to sniff at the ground, "We just gotta find it and make sure it's not gonna die a bad death. That's what we're supposed to do- or the god wont' come back to bless us."

Asenath: (9:17:26 PM): The girl nodded then put her nose and eyes to work. "... God? What god? Dad never told me about one...What's he like?" It didn't take long to find him. The mouse hadn't gotten very far. Jaron: (9:22:52 PM): "I've never met one." He frowned, "I heard that ours is a white lion with four wings... and horns like a gazelle. But.... he's not been back. Dad didn't get blessed. He's kind of worried taht it means something bad's about to happen." Asenath: (9:26:50 PM): "Oh... Why would a lion have horns like a gazelle? Where's he coming back from? What kinda bad thing?" She asked frowning up at the older lion before catching the mouse again and taking it out of its misery. Jaron: (9:28:07 PM): "Oye." He shook his head, "Gods are different from us. They're another.... kind of animal. And they're magic. They can look however they want. Ours protects peace- and we protect him." He wasn't sure how to answer the second question. "I'm not sure. It's just....tradition." Asenath: (9:30:15 PM): She was obviously purely curious as she listened. "Wow... I want to meet him someday... Well your dad's fun so I bet he'll be fine! Maybe its cause he's so good he didn't need blessed!" Jaron: (9:32:25 PM): "Maybe." He cleared his throat, "Anyway- here's a good lesson in tracking. Smell the blood? You should be able to find where the mouse went." Asenath: (9:35:28 PM): "But I already got it Jaron..." She said holding up the dead thing. "I got it a little bit ago..." Jaron: (9:36:54 PM): He blinked and stood himself upright. Well... he'd missed that one. "...oh..well....good job! Now thank it and eat it already." Asenath: (9:37:33 PM): "Thank it...?" That part caught her off gaurd. "Well uh... I got it for you! So you eat it!" Jaron: (9:38:41 PM): "Well you killed it! You thank it for dying. It's another tradition. 'Thank you, mouse, for dying so I can live another day!' Something like that. You never kill lightly. Your old man would kill me if I let you get away without putitng its soul to peace." Asenath: (9:40:12 PM): The girl put her ears down and looked down at the mouse. How do you thank something for dying? "Er... thank you very much for dying for me...and I'm sorry about your tail..." She added as an afterthought and looked up at Jaron. Jaron: (9:43:46 PM): "There." He nodded, "You're gonna be a hunter, so you need to remember that. I'm sure the elders have a more poetic explanation for it- but it's to remind you that life's important or something like that. You'll have to ask your old man." Asenath: (9:59:15 PM): She smiles up at him and nods. "I will! I bet daddy will know! Thanks for teaching me Jaron. Someday I'm gonna be a better hunter then you!" She brushed her forhead against his leg then picked up her mouse, trotting off. "I'm gonna show daddy."
