Xavi's paws plodded across the earth, one after the other, slowly, uncertainly. He wasn't a pup to be intimidated, however, being so far away from Gomorrah made the shiny yellow pup a little nervous.
He'd been playing an innocent game of hide-and-seek. Teita had finally roused him and pleaded with him to play and, well, he couldn't just say NO to her. She was his baby sister... He frowned as he paused, paws shuffling to a stop. He was tempted to flop down, to wait for someone to find him. He didn't -want- to walk anymore.
So, rather stupidly, he flopped into the grass, threw back his head, and let out a warbling cry.

And the warbling cry caught her attention from fishing in the river. Blinking and looking up with a fish in her mouth, Jayel tilted her head to the side and took off after the source of the cry. It sounded like another puppy! Maybe someone she could play with this time. The last puppy she met wasn't to keen on playing, it seemed, but she did teach him how to fish.
Where was it coming from? She tried to answer, but was muffled by her meal to be. When her mouth opened, the fish fell out and flopped around, causing the female to trip over and landed on the grass with a thump. She growled at the stupid fish and ignored it, finally answering that cry with a "MARCO!" What pup hadn't played Marco Polo before?
Her ears swiveled as she listened for the answering plea, and slowly she stopped, waiting. "Marco? ....Kazim, if that's you!" She half heartingly threatened. It didn't sound like her brother though. It didn't sound like any of them, really.

Xavi hoped, somewhere in the back of his mind, that his mother might hear his cry and come looking for him; something that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. He'd wandered too far out of Gomorrah, the boundary lines long forgotten, his paws walking on unknown dirt. He hoped that Teita would dance from the shadows, he hoped that Satoru would perhaps pop out from the bushes and scare him and, like always, he'd never jump. He even found himself hoping that grumpy ol' Agrona would stalk towards him, whack him upon the nose, and lead him home.
His hopes, however, would be forever dashed...
Someone's call rang his ears. He flicked them up, swiveling them around, searching for the sound. Mar...co? His head tilted to one side, mildly curious but not too curious. Not curious enough to stand up and look. No, never that curious.
But the voice was closer now. Closer, and female. Not Teita. Definitely not Agrona... And too young to be Momma. Who...was Kazim? He frowned with a silent huff. "Who's Kazim?" he asked aloud to nothing and no one. "And who's Marco?"

Someone had actually answered back! Faintly, and apparently not knowing how to play Marco Polo. So, she shuffled quicker towards the little voice and sniffed. It was another puppy, for sure. "Hey, look! If you're out there, move so I can see you. You're starting to freak me out," she said with a huff, plopping her rump down on the grass, hoping whoever was out there would come up.
"You don't have to be scared. I'm Jayel! I won't hurt you or nothin'. I guess I'm too little to." Jayel had to ponder on that for a moment, her head tilting to the side, her eyes lingering on a flower. "Oooh.. Pretty! Momma would love that," she said, moving towards a purple flower about the color of her daddy's scars.

Move...
She wanted him to move... As if his shiny coat wasn't enough to catch her attention. Oh...wait. He was covered in mud, wasn't he. It dulled the shine, for sure. With a huge sigh of inconveinence, he stood, swaying on the spot, then moved slowly to where he heard the voice.
Popping his head through the bushes, he saw a little tan and chocolate pup peering down at a purple flower and talking to herself. He gave a short snort. "Jayel?" That was her name, wasn't it. His glowing green eyes glittered. She'd be cute...if he was into girls. He offered a smile. "Sorry... I'm Xavierie, you can call me Xavi. I'm from Gomorrah," he explained quietly, coming up to sit beside her. The crusted mud cracked and crinkled where it dried.

So he was from the pack, too? She'd met a lot of puppies from packs, namely that one! She turned her attention back to the muddy puppy and grinned. "You're all dirty! How come? Did ya fall in the river?" She asked, moving over to him to get a better scent on him. She didn't know anything about manners, obviously. Because she usually only saw and talked to her sister and two brothers.
"Want to go get all cleaned up? Momma taught me to rub against rocks and that'll get all the mud outta my fur! C'mon! I'll show you what spot's the best!" Without looking over her shoulder, Jayel darted away, hoping the puppy would follow her and not stop her.

So...she'd met others from his pack? His ears pricked, interested at once. Had she met Squall? Oh, the word nearly made him swoon! Squall was the beautiful orange-pelted son of Gomorrah's alpha pair and a cutie at that!
Xavierie's head tilted. River? No... Was it so hard to believe that he -wanted- to be covered in mud? He wrinkled his nose. "No. No. I like mud," he murmured, following her at a slow and steady pace. He might even be called lazy by a meaner wolf, but he was merely himself.
What would Jayel think of his fur, shiny and reflective as it was? He gulped back nerves.

"Well... you - waaaait. You like the mud?" She wrinkled her nose at that and turned around, watching the mud colored male with curious green eyes. He was a boy, and boys liked to be dirty, but he liked being caked in mud? That was hard to understand. Jayel hated it when mud dried on her fur.
"....You're so weird.... But that's ok. If you want to be stuck in mud, then be stuck in mud." Flicking an ear, she studied the male and then huffed carefully before moving over to him and sniffing, as if she could figure out something. "Why do you like the mud, though? Is there a reason? Do you have some kind of wound?" Mud was good for cuts, to stop the bleeding. Maybe he just took it to the extreme?

He nodded slowly, a smile spreading over his face. He loved the mud. The mud hid his pelt from the world, even if it was a little hot and bothersome with all of its cracking and crumbling...
Weird... Teita called him Weird too. This female reminded him of his sister. His tail gave a lone wag. "I...I'm really..." He paused, trying to figure out how to tell her that he was shiny. "No...No wound. C'mon...where's the river? I'll show you." He wasn't too -eager- but he was compliant, ever swaying. His tail gave another wag and he looked at her trustingly.

When she was looked at so trustingly, the female gave a yip of happiness and moved to nibble at his nose carefully, not hurting him. She was just being playful! Jayel grinned wider and motioned him to follow again and she headed towards the river once more.
It wasn't to far from where they'd been before. Once there, Jayel jumped right into it, splashing water on her long fur before laying down and rolling in the cold liquid. She sighed out happily and wallowed before just settling in the water, on her stomach and grinned at him. "Water's nice and cold!"

If Jayel would've been a boy, Xavi's face would've heated up in a blush. His tail wagged and a grin rose onto his face, glowy green eyes glittering in the afternoon sunlight. She danced away and he followed, albeit in a slower pace, paws grazing the earth and coming to rest at the shore of the river.
He watched as the water ran, trickling, down the riverbed, about back-deep. It was clear; he could see the stones at the bottom. He looked between the water and Jayel, wanting desperately for his new friend to accept him. He put his front paws in the water and looked at her, suddenly serious.
"You swear you won't, like...judge me?" he asked softly, uncertainly. "My fur's kinda...shiny..."

"Shiny means healthy!" She said as if that explained everything. Honestly, Jayel was so naive it was silly. Barking out a few times, she moved over to him and grinned again, putting her nose against his as she talked. "You're my friend, now, so even if you were bald I'd be your friend. Friends don't judge by looks." Her head nodded all sage like and she stepped back enough room to let him roll around in the cold water. And then looked at him expectantly.

Shiny meant...healthy? His ears flicked back as he took her words to heart, taking a deep breath and wading slowly into the river. The water coursed through his lemon fur, breaking up and softening the mud chunked into it. The water turned murky and he rubbed up against the rock, breaking off more caked mud. His tail and head were the only things bobbing on the surface of the water.
He aimed a water-logged paw at her, splashing water at her face with a meek but ornery grin. Then he turned and pulled his water-logged puppy body from the river and shook. His coat glittered and gleamed in the sunlight and Xavi's face turned to Jayel, waiting her approval or disapproval, whichever the young pup decided to give. "I think I get the shine from my dad," he admitted.

Jayel's green eyes watched as the mud started breaking off and she blinked a bit, tilting her head, trying to understand. When he finally pulled himself from the water, she grinned and moved closer to him. "Awesome.." She said, examining his fur from every angle. Even wet, he was so shiny! Like .....a river on a sunny day. "Why hide that? That's so awesome! I want fur that shiny! I'm stuck with brown." She snorted at that and moved to nose against his belly, trying to feel the shine. It felt like normal fur, just really, really, shiny. Then again, Jayel was like a ferret. She flocked to anything shiny.

Xavierie's chest swelled with pride. She -liked- his shine. She liked it! He gave a squeak of happiness, tail beginning to wag wilder than ever before. This female, she brought out the good in him. He didn't feel so sluggish around her. He wished that she lived closer to Gomorrah...
He looked sheepish. "I dunno why I hide it. Embarrassed, I guess. No one else shines like me or my siblings..." Though both Teita and Satoru seemed to enjoy their shine... He was the odd-duckling out. But maybe, maybe he could grow to like his shine if wolves kept enjoying his company?
"So, Jay. What do you do for fun?" he grinned lopsidedly.
