User ImageHis family had long given up the futile quest in conforming their green-pawed brother into the mentality of their clan. Where much of them were refined, quiet, and tactful- he was a painful contrast. Wingu especially. Koda had tried as a cut to bring out the more playful side of his older brother by climbing trees, playing in the mud, and bringing him the ‘amazing finds’ that he discovered on his many trips away from the den. He wasn’t so much an outcast as the relative that everyone forgets to mention. In retrospect, he was never neglected, never shunned, and never ignored.

In time his ramblings of monsters from the water, giant lions with wings, and featherless birds that walked upright became ramblings of a child that refused to grow older. In time the battle to keep his mane clean became a losing one. When he hit adolescence, he was then considered ‘old enough’s o take care of himself.

His corded mane stood back from his head, frizzing out in every which direction. Ungroomed, tangled, and filled with small sticks from the day’s ‘exploration’. Since his meeting with the ‘giant’, he decided his new goal in life was to meet another one. Not that the others would believe him- but it’d confirm his sighting for himself.

Presently, the large cub found himself wedged between two rocks- again. He’d expected to catch them and slowly work his way up to the next ledge. Unfortunately- his calculations were -slightly- off, and the wider-than-expected crevice between the rocks left him stretched out, clinging to the stones with his claws, considering another course of action.

It had been a few hours since the juvenile goddess had found herself parted from her family - her youthful interest in the world still unwavering - even if everything was a slight shade of crooked - she rarely found anything that was in balance while she was out - and it almost made it a wild chase - finding things that were aesthetically pleasing to her meticulous eye.

Taking down a little leisurely trot through the rocky lands around her - her dark wings had been folded neatly and tightly across her back, cufflings making a muted jangle sound as they softly bobbed up and down, following the foot that they were fastened up in tune. As long as she knew she had enough time to return home without any ill issues, she could take her sweet time - even if that meant going by foot. She wasn't very picky about her flying adventures.

It wasn't so much the lion floating over her for a momentary second that stopped her leisure walk - it was the sudden lion's butt protruding from the wedge that it was obviously much too large to fit through.

Taken aback for a short moment, she found her voice again, eyebrows furrowed in confusion, her voice echoing through the little valley "A-Are you alright?!" To be honest, it was a little funny. . .

Koda turned his head one way then the other. The ledge narrowed a little to his left- if he could inch his way down that way, he may be able to pull himself across. Applauding his brilliance, the green-painted lion slowly began crab-stepping to one side, claws scratching and gripping against the stone. Tiny pebbles showered down below him. He wasn't keen on joining them down there...not at all.

A voice from behind nearly caused him to lose his footing. He jumped, scrambled, gripped, and recovered. And here he thought he'd be spared another embarrassment. Guess not. He needed a story! That's right!

He glanced over his shoulder. Slowly. Blinking, he tipped his head. A little female. He didn't recognize her at all. She kind of looked like some of the newer members, he wasn't surprised to see a new face really. They were coming in every shape and size now. In fact- she was the second winged lion he'd seen. Not that anyone believed him.

Oh right, he needed to say something.

"...Hi!" He flashed a wide, toothy grin, "Oh you've just caught me....stretching. Yup. My back gets real tight after a night in the den. I gotta stretch it out. One-two, one two, one two. You got wings, are you related to a big black lion with wings?"
