It was early in the evening and yet again Zuberi had left his pack lands and was roaming through the open savanna. He enjoyed the new freedom his that came with came with being an adolescent.
He was sauntering through some long grass when he caught site of the female who was standing on the other side of the field by a watering hole. The wind was going in the wrong direction so he hadn't caught her sent earlier, but she probably was aware of his presents.
He began to head towards her with the intent of meeting her, he enjoyed meeting others, and this was a face he was sure he hadn't seen before. He made it through the grass and came up beside her. "Hello there." he said gently.

Night fall always reminded Kipopo of the night she escaped; the thrill and terror of it all. She was so young to be doing something so dangerous but she knew then that it was necessary to survive. However, it had come at a price.
She had arrived at the very watering hole she stared at currently sometime that afternoon however it had been bustling with creatures so she kept her distance. Only now did she dare venture near it. As she stared though, the gentle breeze carried the scent of another. The scent was familiar enough to tell her it was another wild dog, however it did not let her know much more than that.
She fought with herself, stay or flee? But by the time she had come up with a decision, it had already reached her. She tensed as it spoke to her, no matter how gentle a tone it possessed. She did not move, but just looked at him out of the corner of her eyes. Curtly, she replied, "Hello."

Zuberi could sense the uncomfortable tone in the females voice, and he wondered if perhaps she should leave him alone. He however decided to stay as he hasn't seen anyone else in the area tonight, he didn't want to be alone tonight. So he settled beside her, sitting a fair distance away hoping that she would be able to get use to her presents there.
"I promise I wont hurt you." he said quietly, she didn't have a reason to mistrust Zuberi, he just wanted to make friends.
"My name is Zuberi, I like in a pack near by here." he told her hoping that if she knew more about him perhaps she would fell more at easy.

She was wary of his actions, but almost felt guilty when realizing that he did so in response to hers. She ignored his promise as she learned long ago that promises are just empty words when coming from males.
"Hello, Zuberi." She still did not warm up much to him, but since she did not want to seem too rude she seemed a conversation must be in order. "Really? Which one?"

"The Peke Na Pack" Zuberi answered quickly. "We are a nocturnal pack of dogs." he smiled talking about his pack always made him happy. "I have been there since I was born."
He looked back towards her, "What about you? Do you have a pack you belong to?" he asked. He was hoping he could get her to open up to him a bit.

"Ah. I've never heard of it." Kipopo however had never met anyone from a pack so naturally packs were a new thing to her entirely. "No. I live on my own."
She was still uncomfortable around him but she had to ask, "Why nocturnal?" The night was dangerous, a fact she had accepted long ago. She could not dream of roaming far at night and always found herself a refuge before sleeping.

"We are nocturnal because our pack had so many problems in the beginning with the heat. We weren't able to survive until one day or should I say one night we someone stayed up and realized how much more bearable the temperature was at night. With the pack being up at night we are able to accomplish much more."
Zuberi never really put much thought into night being dangerous, as he had spent his whole life in the night, for the most part it was all that he knew. "I don't know that much about the day time, I have only been out during the day light hours a few times."
"Really on your own? Why on your own don't you get lonely?" Zuberi realized that perhaps he was pushing her a little too hard. However Zuberi wanted to know more about her, he loved making new friends, he couldn't understand being alone all the time. He always wanted to be around others.

Kipopo considered his statement for a few seconds. "I... suppose the idea has some merit to it." A nocturnal lifestyle could have its perks when it came to traveling under the moon as opposed to the sun, however there were many other creatures that were nocturnal too. And they happened to be bigger than herself.
"For one thing, you can see what's coming at you better. Gives you a fighting chance." She looked away, into the horizon. Changing the subject, "Yes, on my own. No. I do not." She looked back at him and said, "You can't get hurt if its just you around."

Zuberi paused confused. From the way he understood things, and what he had experienced around the pack you were much more likely to get hurt if it was just you. You could be teamed up against, and you had no hope of winning a battle against a lion. Wild Dogs were strong but compared to some of the big cats? Not to mention it was much harder to hunt when you were all alone. "I think you have it wrong dear. It is of course much more dangerous if you were all alone."
Unlike Kipopo Zuberi had never experienced any mental anguish so the thought of being alone was very unappealing her loved being around others, and it didn't matter the species either, he loved everybody"You must have family somewhere that you could be with instead of on your own? You could come back to the pack... or I could stay with you for awhile?" Zuberi was trying his best to find something that would work for this girl, the thought of leaving her alone made him sad.

"If you are by yourself it is easier to hide and avoid the fight in the first place." She did not appreciate being told she was wrong. Not in the least. "And if you are by yourself you don't have to worry about the well-being of others." She thought that maybe it was time to get going. It was getting late but then his words interupted her train of thought. "...Excuse me? My family is long gone and I don't need a pack. I'll do fine on my own." She started to turn away from him but did not go anywhere.

Zuberi dipped his head, the last thing he meant for was to scare this girl away, he hadn't meant to insult just hoped that maybe he would be able to show her some of the positive sides of being around others.
"Wait!" he called out to her galloping up to her side, "listen I am sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you but please don't leave. We can agree to disagree. But don't leave." he sat himself slightly in her way so that she couldn't get past him with out turning or pushing him.
"You don't even have to talk much, I can talk I will tell you about me. Then well we will work out what happens after when we get there."

She was hesitant of his actions and awaited further movement. Once seated and pleading in front of her, she saw that this dog was no more than a silly boy. She had bigger men to worry about. She sat where she was stoicly. He wanted to talk; she would let him.
"I will not leave. Yet." She waited for the conversation to continue though knew she would say little to nothing to contribute.

Zuberi sat in front of her, although she said she would stay he wasn't completely sold on the fact that she would. He thought for a moment what should he tell him about himself... he had promised after all that he would do all the talking, he didn't want to be alone so he better get talking.
After some thought he decided that he would tell her about his family structure. It was something he knew enough about and therefor he would be able to talk about it for awhile, perhaps after she heard about the women in his life she would be a little warmer with him, Zuberi loved the women in his life after all.
"Well I suppose I could tell you about my family." he began looking at her face to make sure she was listening. "I live in a pack like I said and there is me, along with my mother and seven siblings in our den. Though I have been thinking lately that perhaps I should move into my own den... I am getting older you see and our den is awfully croweded with all of us in there ." he smiled thinking about his crowded home, he actually liked being around his family a lot but he was starting to feel the urges that couldn't be satisfied while he was still leaving in his families den.
"I have three sisters and four brothers. My mother has raised us all on her own, well there was the pack there to help but my father has never been in the picture. But my mom was so strong she was able to do it by herself no problem." Zuberi was very proud of his mother, and he loved her a great deal...which often showed when he was talking about her. He took a deep breath and studied Kipopo trying to tell what her reaction to all that he had told her was.

As the silence lengthened, Kipopo sincerely thought about making a run for it. He was trying to play her somehow. Maybe she'd missed the clues and he was just a distraction while a bigger male snuck up on her. She would not be taken for a sitting duck.
Then he began rambling. She did not answer him since she was still irritated but she did listen. She'd never heard of such a large family and her first instinct was to push away from it. Large families were just a hassle and not worth her time. Besides, she would never let it happen to her. Willingly.
Her mind started racing when he said he had no father figure. She had only wished to be that lucky and a small part of her felt something for him. She couldn't place the feeling at first. Then, it hit her. It was envy. She was unsure if it showed in her face but she tried to conceal it as soon as she realized it may have been showing.

Zuberi stopped to catch his breath, it wasn't easy carrying a conversation all on his own, but he was bent on showing Kipopo that he wasn't a bad guy. He saw a flicker of something move across her face, but she caught it an changed it before Zuberi was able to read to far into it.
He decided her expression was just fear, so he lied down in front of her, showing that he would take the submissive. "I am not going to hurt you" he repeated. He got ready to begin talking again, seeing as he knew she wasn't going to pipe up.
"Well then, where did I leave off." he looked up at her a smile on his face, "I could tel you more about my pack. We are a friendly pack, we are really one big happy family. We live in a way that is beneficial to all those around us. There is no blame, no hate no anger." Zuberi loved the way his pack lived. It was a happy place for him, somewhere that would always feel like home.
