User ImageEver since the rainstorm where they'd agreed to be partners, Teiracaes had ventured further and further from the den. Growing up now, the young lioness, now an adolescent, was beginning to mature and take her own steps into the world.

And of great import to that world was one Buibui'sefu. The male was a friend, a confidant, a trainer... and he gave her pause, made her catch her breath in thought or pride for him; no them. They were a team and victories for one was a victory for both.

For Teiracaes, those victories came in small steps with her visions. They did not frighten her quite so much anymore... indeed she was better able to grasp their meaning with another to interpret them. It wasn't quite such a personal terror anymore so much as a shared experience, something she found she was coming to rely on quite a bit. Buibui's easy visions came as a calming influence to Teira and she hoped to one day be as stable and able to handle the flashes of the future as he was.

And so, to prove to herself she was able to reach that far and succeed, the dark lioness sat atop a bluff, overlooking the plains of their home and waited, willing a vision to strike her. It was an idle past time now, and this her favourite spot as she waited for the other. They sparred often nowadays, and learned from each other, a mutual tutoring of sorts.

Being a teenager had taken very well to Bui. He had grown into himself very well, and he was only getting bigger as time went on. Powerful, and he liked that about himself. The stronger he was... the better he could fight... the more he felt that some day, some day soon, he would be able to lead the demon-hunters into battle and obliterate the evil that walked among them. And now he had a partner, and he thought she was doing very well. What a powerful team they were becoming.

He had to admit... he did rather like Teiracaes, in a weird way that he didn't really like most people. Or rather, he didn't want to use her as much as he did... everyone else. Well, he liked them well enough, but he only saw them in terms of use. What he could use them for. Teiracaes... he liked just being around her. Odd. But he hoped that training her would make her a powerful ally... one that he hoped he would not lose.

His visions of the present were always strong, allowing him to view almost anything... though only for the moment he woke up. The rest of the day was usually quite bland for him, and he saw things that only a normal lion would. Visions could strike her at any time... and he had to help her learn to deal with them as he did.

He spotted her up above him, and walked to join her, in no particular hurry. He wasn't really in the mood to fight just then. But talking with her was always nice... pleasent in a way. He wondered what they would ponder on that day...

Teiracaes' ears flicked as she picked up the sound of another's slow approach. Tilting her head, she scanned the area and smiled broadly when she found the familiar pale pelt of Buibui drawing near. "Afternoon, Buibui!" She called by way of greeting, though she didn't stand up - instead she shuffled to the side to make room for him.

Watching him move, she found herself rather impressed. He was growing into a strong, fine young lion and it bemused her that he was likely well aware of that fact. Having picked up on the non-combative air about the male, she smiled, "No sparring today? Are there plans to be made? I haven't seen anything useful recently... but I've been trying."

Bui sat beside her, glad she had made space... but then, with her he never had to ask. She simply knew these things. He supposed it either had something to do with her future-sight, or perhaps she simply... knew him better than others did. The only one outside his family who really knew him anyway.

"I didn't have much in mind for today really..." He admitted thoughtfully, "I felt something earlier... something to do with the demons, but it faded quickly enough. I suppose things will come up as they do..." He shrugged his large shoulders, feeling a little... lazy, around her. It happened on occasion. At first he hadn't liked it, but he did not feel like he needed to be on his guard around her.

"Something? Bad or good?" She asked, tilting her head in curiosity and concern as the other spoke, ears flicking. It bothered her sometimes that she was not yet so useful to the other - sure, she was getting better, and visions sometimes came when she willed them, but it wasn't the control she wished she had. It would come though, of that she was certain. And when it did, when her ability finally became controllable, Teiracaes planned to help Buibui out as much as she could.

She liked the young male and found herself relaxing around him as well, and that she wanted to make him proud... keep him happy. It confused her sometimes but she didn't fight that sensation for it was a pleasant one. Nosing his shoulder, she half leaned against him with a laughing purr, "The great Buibui taking a rest when there are demons to slay? I never thought I'd see that day." Smiling, however, she nodded approval, "I worry when you do not rest for even you do tire."

"When it comes to demons, they are always evil consequences to their actions." Bui told her, his voice harsh, but it always seemed to be less harsh when he spoke to her than it was with anyone else. He liked her a great deal more than... everyone who was not a member of his family, he supposed. And even then, they tended to get along better than he and his sisters... He rarely even thought about the fact that she couldn't control her visions as well as he could. But he had always been able to control his visions.

"Yes well... if one does not rest their body on occasion, then it will fail them when they need it most." He said knowingly. But he had also been exceptionally tired lately... and that bothered him. He had to prove he was strong enough for his position, and he would not allow sleep to get in the way.

Except now, it was in the way. "Worry not... I shall take care of myself... and I suppose that even if I do not, you will make sure of it." After all, Teiracaes did tend to make sure he didn't collapse...

"I do not disagree," she replied easily, tilting her head as if asking what she'd said to spark that response, "They walk a destructive path of death, blood, and brutality." Everything she knew, everything she'd be taught testified to that fact. She smirked, bemused by Buibui. He was so incredibly focused on destroying the demons - did he forget she walked by his side because she agreed (though her scope of vision did not tend to narrow like his).

She lifted a paw to bat at him, a brow arched, "And you better remember that my friend! There are demons to kill, yes, but you cannot drive them from the land if you are dead." She chuckled, laughter dancing in her eyes as she opened her mouth to respond only to freeze, jaw working and eyes tracking back and forth. Her ears laid back and initial fear gave way to battle rage, her body tensing as visions flashed before her eyes.

Dark shapes, coming with the dusk, lanced through the light - a tide of blackness washing over the bright lands like a deadly tide. From the surf that broke upon their shores surged lions, vicious and snarling, to catch and grab at her pride, dragging some back into the depths and leaving many more along the fringe of sea and shore, the white sands of her vision stained crimson.

Laughter, haughty and cruel, rose from the darkness and a single pair of red eyes stared back at her as the shadows extended, creeped along her vision and consumed her whole - the black of her pelt merging with the shadows around her. A form danced in front of Teira then, detaching itself from the darkness, and lunged forward with a roar that sent her vision flaring to crimson red.

At that point she jerked away, eyes closing and breath heaving. She'd dug her claws into into the rock and dirt on which they'd been sitting a moment before. Eyes wide, she glanced around as she caught her breath and shook her head, "No no no...." Ears laid back, she moved forward to glance across the plains and then turned to look the other away, highly agitated.

There was no need to interpret this vision.

Turning to Buibui her voice was barely a whisper, "The demons are coming. We have to tell the others!"

In almost an instant, Bui was on his feet, hair standing on end as he hissed loudly. His mother. His sisters... they had to be warned. Xia could only see the past but perhaps Hima... perhaps Hima had seen something. He had known. He had known the demons were on the move that morning and he hadn't said a word! His own foolishness. He should have warned them.

"Teira, find my mother and alert her right away!" He insisted without a second thought. Xinavane was the Ardhi, she had to know... and he had to warn the warriors, "I will alert our leader... but we must hurry... If the demons are on their way then we haven't a moment to lose!"

His family. Teiracaes would protect them... she would tell them, and she would be out of danger. And he would make sure that nothing happened to them, no matter what. Now was the time to attack.

"Go now! I'll return to you once I let the others know!" He then ran with all the speed he had in him. Someone had to tell Moto. Someone had to protect their families. A list of dozens of possible ways for things to go wrong...

...But he was ready.

She staggered a bit, still partially gripped by her vision, and nodded as best she could, "I will!" Obedience here seemed to be reflexive - a direction she need not think about and orders she could act on. "Be safe Buibui!"

Catching him with a paw before he could run off, she nuzzled him with a soft pur before she turned away, "You better come back, Buibui. I'll be upset if you don't."

Bui looked back at her, surprised for a moment before he smirked, "You know I'll always come back for you. That's a promise I intend to keep. I'm invincible, remember?" He let his paw stay with her a moment and kept it close. His dear girl... yes, he would be back for her, certainly. She was one of the only people he could trust.

Except for his family, probably the only one actually.

"You make sure you come back to me. Don't let me down. You know I won't accept failure." And he wouldn't, but he would never accept that. Not from her. She was too close to him now... if he saw anything happen to her, he'd make sure to put a stop to it.

"I'll see you soon." And then he was gone.
