http://www.wow.com/2009/07/17/new-halloween-masks-point-to-a-new-playable-race/Discuss... Do you think that these new mask are pointing out to a new playable race for the next expansion? I think there might be a chance that these races will be in the next expansion since on WMV (WoW Model Viewer) you're allowed to put player armor on the Goblins and they have a lot of player emotes. The worgen even has some emotes in the files such as "/wave" or "/roar". There's also a chance of Blizz making a female worgen model somewhere in the future. If Blizz makes these two races playable, horde will have Goblins (they first fought with the Horde during the Second war) and the alliance will have the worgen. (since the people of Gilneas used to be humans). They also might be even balancing out the factions again. Like in BC, they gave the horde pallies (Blood Elves) and gave Alliance shamans. (Dreanei) Pretty much, the Horde will have Goblins so they'll have a short race, and the Alliance will have Worgens so they'll have a beast-like race like the Tauren. Pretty much, that sums this whole thing up...

Jobforundead they are new races for the next expansion We don't know that yet... The one and only place we'll get the answers is Blizzard themselves while in Blizzcon.

Aye, we can't be sure...
But that's where I'm putting my money, too.
Should be interesting.

I have my doubts, both seem like quite a stretch being that goblins are mostly neutral and only involved in affairs that bring them profit. I can't really see them siding with a faction and losing the opposite as a customer, now thats just bad business. As for worgen on the alliance, the argument that they still have enough humanity in them to side with a faction is again unlikely, regardless of their former existence. I realize there is speculation as to what the new races will be but I don't think these two are very likely. That being said I have not even the slightest idea of what the new races may be. I was thinking alliance would get high elves but there would be serious confusion between them and blood elves I'm sure. I can see either some type of dragonkin ripoff, mechanical or former demon turned good race being implemented. And what of our beloved puppy-men and big-tongues? =P. Perhaps goblins and worgen aren't such a stretch? All in all it will probably end up either something stupid like naga and eredar or something lazy like taunka and high elves lol.
I'd like to see a mechanical race though =P

That would be an interesting expansion. But...pose a lot of questions.
What would be cool is the ability to choose which faction O_O; ZomG!

While it is POSSIBLE that these might be new playable races come next expansion, Im not holding my breath. They're Halloween masks of goblins and worgen... playable races or not, werewolves and goblins are not out of place as halloween icons.
If they are chosen to be new playable races, I would expect them to be new hero class only, as both goblins and worgen could be horde or alliance. I would really be surprised if Blizzard only released one hero class an expansion, with two years inbetween them, not when it's known that they're already developing another MMO.
I digress. We will have to wait and see.

lore wise, the one controller (CONTROLLER, mind, NOT friend, or ally) of worgen on the Alliance was killed by Arugal. The worgen she summoned were nowhere near the intelligence of the races currently to be found on Alliance and Horde. Even the draenei Broken WERE intelligent beings. The worgen were just near mindless beings that were controlled by a priestess of Elune. And SHE was killed by Arugal!
To bring worgen to the alliance, Blizzard would have to solve the problem of one of its own quest chains stating that worgen don't really have much minds of their own. And the problem of why the priestess was killed.

And Shimmer, I think you're mixing up Race and Class. confused

exactly. The only ALLIANCE worgen were not intelligent. The enemy worgen are plenty intelligent. This implies that humans turned into worgen by malevolent energies = evil, worgen summoned from somewhere-unknown that are mindless or near mindless = alliance. The only worgen that are self aware are evil, and the ones that aren't served the alliance (possibly because the summoning forth destroyed their minds?)

what if they were made neutral classes then you could pick which faction you you liked better and fight alongside them.

Ugh, I don't want Goblins on Horde. I mean, to me, that just looks like a midget Orc anyways. But mainly, if this is all true, I just don't want to roll Alliance to play a Worgen. xd xd
