Wren was comfortably seated on his mother's shoulders as the pair made their way through the large indoor flea market. It was confusing to the green eyes boy because there actually weren't fleas here but stuff for sale. His mother hadn't been able to tell him why they were named as they were and for Wren it seemed like a deep mystery, however it was not one the songbird boy had time to solve.
Right now he was busy using his high vantage point to look for vendors with stuff that looked interesting to him. he was allowed to pick up something special first becuase they were going to be here for a while and his mother didn't want him bored. Though as a small child his attention was easily redirected as long as the next thing he saw was interesting.
Rinali smiled and hummed softly to herself as she weaved her way through the crowd keeping a careful hold of Wren's legs and trying not to jerk too much in her movements and make the boy lose balance. The orange and white haired seraph woman loved flea markets although navigating the crowds and dealing with the heat of so many bodies was always the hardest part for her.

Reuben clicked his cellphone shut and rolled his eyes. Oh boy. Well, looked like Chris wasn't going to get a chance to meet Vergil this weekend after all since Charlotte had just about blown a fuse when she'd heard that Vergil had hatched. Reuben had a feeling that she didn't completely believe him, but hey, not his problem.
He unbuckled Vergil from the backseat and took his hand as they walked across the parking lot to the building where this flea market he'd heard about was. Since welcoming Vergil into his flat, Reuben had found himself with a keen need for more child-appropriate furniture. His car (hopefully) would hold a kid's bedframe and desk, or one of those. He'd already gotten a mattress on sale, but his miserly paycheck wasn't going to allow him to give his kid all new furniture. So, this was the next best option.
Reuben opened the door and blinked when he saw how crowded it was. "Hold my hand, Verge." He said, eyes roving over the area, looking for the furniture section, if there was one. It was difficult to tell. Might as well wander. "What do you say we try and find you a desk?"
Vergil was still staring at the vastness of the space. He looked up at Reuben and nodded. "Okay!"

Perched up high Wren spotted a stall with interesting looking instruments over near a strange yellow winged boy. He tapped his mother's arm for her attention and gestured in the direction he wanted to go. As they neared the other boy Wren's orange and pale yellow feathers ruffled for no reason he could understand, as if a strange wind had mussed them up. A strange feeling reverberated through the dark skinned boy but he didn't know what his meant and his mother seemed oblivious to it.

"Hey!" Reuben exclaimed, going over to stall and looking at some of the woodwork. "This looks pretty promising. What do you think, Verge?"
Silence.
Reuben felt a streak of panic. Christ, if his kid was lost--
But no, there was Vergil, an odd look on his face. Reuben walked back over to him. "What's wrong, kiddo?"
Vergil pursed his lips, thought a moment, and shook his wings and his head as though dislodging the feeling. "I just felt kinda weird..."
Reuben knelt down beside him. "We can go home, if you--" But then Vergil spun around, eyes scanning the crowd. His wings had gone all pointy and he didn't like that.
"Are you feeling okay?" Reuben asked again, a little worried.

Wren waved as they were about to pass the boy and a strange noise a cross between a real word and some sort of deranged chirp issued from his mouth startling the child quite a bit. What was that and why had it happened? Why had he never made that sound before? Was something wrong with him?
Rinali blinked and froze," Wren are you okay" less concerned with who was around her she wondered if he'd hiccuped or if the noise was a sign of something more serious like choking.

Vergil's ears pricked up at the strange sound. He turned away from Reuben and tried to peer through the crowd to see what had made it.
He saw an old guy selling a table, a woman holding a glass ball to the light, and-- a brown-haired boy with strange markings on him and wings.
Vergil's eyes grew wide and he smiled. "Come on, Dad!" He called out to Reuben, who was left with the desk just as easily as though he were a forgotten toy.
Reuben, shocked for a moment but not completely caught offguard (Vergil had pulled this stunt before), walked after his errant songbird and called him back in a stern voice. "Vergil, don't wander off."

As his mother pulled him down to get a better look at him Wren slipped loose of her hold and hopped foreword to come back to face with the other yellow winged child, and as he got closer the strange reverberation that ran through him rose again, peaked then dissipated. Apparently this one was the source of his weird feelings even if he didn't know why? Really they were nothing alike except for having wings and Wren knew lots of people about his size with wings. There were probably a dozen in the fleamarket alone.
" Hi" This time the sound that came from his mouth was soft and calm. Not shy but unassuming, nothing more than a simple one word statement meant to show he was acknowledging the other boy.

Vergil smiled amicably and waved. "Hi! I like your wings," he said.
Reuben caught up not shortly thereafter, and his eyebrows rose. Well, what do you know. "Hello there," he said, trying to be polite, though also wanting to get Vergil back and proceed on their hunt for furniture. His kid burnt out pretty quick, so he didn't want to drag the trip out, and this had been a bit unexpected.

Wren's wings quivered for a moment and the boy smiled" I like your wings too" He admitted the other's were all one colour but interesting, and his hair was two colours so clearly it evened out. " I'm Wren." If they were going to say more than that to each other he had to introduce himself it was what was polite.
The young songbird smiled and waved at the man who'd appeared from the crowd.
This was.. random Rinali though as she too made her way to the boys, silver bell earrings jingling as she moved. Well perhaps less random then strange, Wren had never done this before. Was it possible that even though they looked so different the children were the same in some way? The woman never had figured out what species Wren's egg was after all. " Hello Boys" she murmured unusually quietly still assessing the situation.

Vergil grinned, always happy to make new friends. "My name's Vergil!" He quipped enthusiastically, giggling and fluttering his wings happily at the complement. "Are you here shopping, too?"
Reuben looked up and smiled at the woman. He had to admit, he liked the combination of colors in her hair. "Hey there. I was just seeing where Vergil had run off to." He nodded down at her own boy. "I see you've got your own kid. They're quite a handful, huh?" Then, realizing that he must be being rude, he extended his hand and said, "The name's Reuben. Sorry for the trouble."

The dark haired songbird nodded " Lots of shopping, all day." Well maybe not all day but possibly that long which was why Wren was supposed to get something to entertain himself with. Wren reached up to fiddle with the smooth bone of the animal skull necklace he wore while he continued to look over Vergil "We could shop?" Right? Because doing things together was better than doing them alone
Rinali reached out and shook the man's hand firmly " I'm Rinali and no trouble at all, Wren's not my first child so I'm sort of used to this happening." Pyran had actually been far more prone to wandering off than Wren ever seemed too.

Vergil giggled, finding it cool that someone else was in the same position that they were. "Yeah! It feels like we've been shopping forever!" He looked up pleadingly at Reuben. "Dad, can we look for stuff with Wren and Ms. Rinali? Please?" He implored.
Reuben had to smile as well and shook hands with the woman. "I should know better; Vergil's not my first either. I just get a little nervous when I don't know where he is."
Turning his attention to Vergil's plea, Reuben considered the request. "I'm alright with it, if you don't mind us tagging along." He said to Rinali. "I've not been to many flea markets and I'm not really sure where to find anything." Yeah, yeah, so he was completely lost. At least now he stood a chance of finding what he was looking for.

" It's fine" The seraph assured him, it was nice to have company and Wren was still working on his socializing skill so this was good practice. " At least they'll be easier to keep track of this way." Well perhaps anyway sometimes a pair of children became a large mob if enough of them spotted each other at once and headed away from their guardians to meet.
" What are you shopping for?" Wren asked curiously, as far as he knew he and his mother were just here becuase she liked to look at things and had wanted him to come along and see them too.

"That's true!" Reuben said. Two kids together were a lot more noticeable than one alone. Besides, Reuben hoped that having someone to talk to might make shopping a little more enjoyable for Vergil.
"Umm..." Vergil thought hard, brow knitting itself into knots. He knew that he and his dad had come here for something important, but he couldn't remember what it was. Not wanting to disappoint his new acquaintance, he pulled on Reuben's pant leg gently. "Um, Dad? What are we shopping for again?" He whispered.
"A desk and bedframe." Reuben said, voice low to placate his songbird, even though he was reasonably sure that everyone involved could hear him.
Vergil turned back to Wren. "A desk and a bed...!" He said merrily. "What about you?"

" Stuff" Wren replied with a smiled twitching the pale yellow fears of his wings " and something for me." Anything he wanted was open to him since his mother hadn't specified anything but likely it would be some sort of toy that he chose.
