A tool for contacting Spirits, or a silly game? Does it actually work?
What are your views on it?
Some of my family use to use the ouiji board. A cousin contacted a spirit who identified herself as Freya and claimed to be his spirit guide. Another cousin was having a party and a friend brought in a Parker Brother Version and wanted to play. My cousin was uncomfortable with the idea because he had heard that "they only contacts evil spirits" so to ease his fears they put the board on to of a bible. Apparently the paddle flew off the board and broke when it hit the wall.
When I played it at camp...one of the girls got caught pushing the paddle

I feel it as an important tool of divination and a meaning to communicate with the spirits of the dead and other entities outside of our existence. It is said it preforms better with two people of the opposite sex. However, the Ouija Board is an extremely DANGEROUS device. It may imposter a spirit and be a vicious spirit or demon. It is said you should do a protection spell after each session, thus ridding all unwanted, bad spirits. Toying with this device, or even using it, may make a spirit combine with you and make you what is called "obsessed." A sudden personality change or violent actions occur and you lose the power of your body control. So, I would say you could use it, but if you should ever be threatened by a spirit, close the session with a good-bye, thank you, and wishing the spirit good luck. You can use it, in my view, but take extreme caution.

I'm very weary about ouiji boards. I do believe that you can connect with another plain, I'm more weary of who you bring through.
When I asked my Nan about ouiji boards she told me about the one time she used one. At first the spirit was very friendly, but explained he was accused of stealing from someone, but died before he could clear his name. All he wanted was for my Nan (Then just a young teen) to let someone know he was innocent and the name of the real theif. But my Nan got a little freaked and closed the session. The spirit didn't take it too well, and stayed with them. Emitting (SP?) smells and loud bangs at the most inconvienent times as he could, when they moved home, he either stayed or left them alone.
But it's that sort of thing I'm cautious about, of course I would love to communicate in some way with the Otherside, but I don't know how the spirit is going to react. Looking at my Nans story, she could have prevented what happened, by soothing his fears.

A properly prepared Ouija is a device designed to 'bind' a spirit to the board and communicate with it via the marked alphabet and indicating planchet. Preparation may be done either by the person who originally creates and marks the board as a deliberate act, or by accident by users of a marked but unprepared board during setup rituals for game or actual query sessions.
If the board is properly prepared and marked, it will have an 'escape', 'exit', or 'release' command included either in the markings or in the ritual and its commands. The primary problem with Ouija boards is when novices, negligent users, or malicious clods leave a spirit bound to the board. As can be imagined, the trapped spirit will try to do all in its power to escape the confinement. Further problems occur if a board has been left 'charged' and a second spirit is summoned and bound. A Voidling (usually evil) spirit previously bound and abandoned on such a board will often hijack the newcomer's escape and otherwise distort the session, and may even attack the newcomer spirit or attack the users after the session. Using a release-all command or ritual, and taking extreme care in use of Ouija especially if the board reads as high energy to an aura-reader, is highly advised. I'd also avoid using Parker Brothers crap boards, they are often defective and difficult to release the spirit from. Channelers are usually more reliable.

Truthfully?
Ouija bopards scare me.
Its too hard to tell if its just a mind game or an actaul tool of divination.
and if you do contact a spirit....who can tell right away whether it is harmful or not? In the hands of amateurs, which, as it is a massed produced toy, are the ones who it most. Too much can go wrong and unplanned.
My friends were using one once and the spirit inside told them it was a demon and it began to curse them and God, and eventually one of them threw the board against the wall.
I think they got off lucky nothing worse happened.
If you dont know exactly what you are doing and how to do it properly, it is best to avoid such things

the only memerable experence with an Ouija board is when me and my friend used it to contact a spirit. it began spelling all sorts of nonsence letters that at the time didn't mean anything to us. about three months later we were meditating to try and find out some information on our dopel gangers and we realized that my friends dopel gangers name was the same as the letters were spelling out. for those of you who are wondering what the name was, it was R Y T O T S I N. now if you saw that being spelled out on an ouija board would you know what it ment?

now now, don't laugh at your Wiccan friend. There are many Wiccans who do not know about Ouiji boards for whatever reason. I don't know too much about them myself (I'm not Wiccan either). I do know that they are generally used (when not used as a toy) as a divining tool. Much like a pendulum or 'crystal' ball. I have heard, also, that Ouiji boards can bring spirits (good, bad, or neutral) into the physical realm in which we live. The proper way to deal with something like that is to do some research before deciding to actually USE a Ouiji board. The toys are just that I believe and don't have any magical properties in it. I believe the person who USES the board for an actual purpose must, like crystals and runes and such, put in their own energy to sort of 'activate' the magic within. Then after they are done with their session, they should 'cleanse' the board. Release their energy from it. All in all, I don't think the board itself is bad. I think it depends on who is using it and for what reason and to what extent their knowledge is of what they are using it for.

Personally, I don't hold with ouji boards, they are dangerous tools especially if one doesnt know what they're doing. I do not believe they are anything to be played with. As far as wiccans go, I am not one, but I have a good friend who is one, and he seems to know plenty about things one ought not go near...of course it wouldn't stop him from chancing it if he thought that this was an area he was interested in pursuing.

had you seen what i wrote on the preist of odd's topic? here is a section of it: sakura_elyse1 A friend of my mother I knew was pregnant and messed with an ouija board. her body aborted her baby the next day and it didnt make it. her religious husband divorced her when she found out and she had to live in her sisters home for half a year until she got back on her feet. Dark spirits, magic, and tampering with unknown, or the lefthand path can lead you to horrible places. You have to be able to distinguish good from bad spirits in order to be able to play with those kind of things. Since knowing that kind of a thing is only influential, then one would assume its dangerous to mess with that at all.

Personally, I think it's just a board game in the genre of Milton Bradley. On the other hand, I've scryed the future with plastic dice, so I suppose there's no reason a Ouija board couldn't theoretically work. My dad now, he's terrified of Ouija boards. Won't tell me why, but he's made it abundantly clear not to even joke about bringing one into his home. No matter. If it really does work by contacting dead spirits, then it's necromancy, and I'll have nothing to do with it.

Apparently she did it once and everyone took their hands off the pointer and it kept moving. Then all the light bulbs in the room popped. Needless to say my family doesn't have the best luck with ouija boards. Probably some bitter ansestor.

Ouija boards, to me, only work if you believe in them. Such as crystals, dice, ruins, etc. I believe it could work if you believe it can work and/or you have some sort or conection with the afterlife/spirits.
