I decided to see what an old forum I used to be a member of, was up to today. Admist the dribble did I find this: www.myspace.com/wearethefallen
You'll notice something here: All the fired members of Evanescence with the Irish chick from American Idol.
Basically we have a carbon-copy Evanescence without the diva. One thing We Are The Fallen is missing though, is the Diva's set of pipes. NOW! Whether or not the Diva can sing live, is another dicussion. But Carly can sing, just not as well as The Diva. So needless to say, the Evanescence Lemmings are just running off the cliffs in rage over this. How dare they (the ex members) try and start a band that sounds like Evanescence!!
But wait. Hold the phone. Evanescence doesnt even sound like evanescence anymore. We are The Fallen sounds more like Evanescence than Evanescence does. The only downside is that Carly tries desperately to sound like The Diva, but fails. Not to say she doesnt sing well. It is an enjoyable song, but I fear they will not go over well because the Evanescence lemmings will make sure of that.
One girl wrote on Blabbermouth: "shes such a f--king poser!! i hate her!!! she needs to stop trying to be like amy lee. shes trying way to hard. omg i hate her. shes lame!!!!!!!!!"
Maybe fans wouldnt respond so harshly if the band didn't promote itself to actually be different than Evanescence with a new sound. Sorry Ben, Rocky, and John, you do sound like Evanescence, just not quite as good.
And to top it all off, The Diva's Evanescence is coming back for round 2. After many report of her ending the Evanescence name and going on as The Diva, and Only as The Diva.
Not sure if anyone cares, but I found this ping pong game of drama between The Diva and her Ex-Band quite amusing. The cast: The Diva in red. The Ben in Blue
"You"re Fired!" "No I quit!" "I'm Evanescence!" "I'm doing my own thing!!" "I'm dropping Evanescence and going solo" "I'm making a carbon copy version of Evanescence but with a less talented frontwoman/singer!!!" "I'm disregarding the last info of me going solo and continuing Evanescence without an explanation!!" "Oh yeah, well...you're chubby." "I got married and kept all your fans. Ha. Ha."

Holy crap, that does sound exactly like Evanescence. eek But with shittier vocals. I thought you were exaggerating, but you weren't.
I don't see why they dont just, you know, be better the Evanescence and play more complex, better music..... neutral

My Hollow Difference between Nightwish and Evanescence: No one cares about Nightwish. Several million albums sold worldwide would disagree with you. talk2hand I'll admit I almost never listen to them anymore, but I'll give credit where credit is due.

End of story. The Nightwish that was, is no more. Henceforth, no one cares about present Nightwish. @Digital: It doesnt have to be complex to be great. To be honest I'd kinda like old Evanescence to be back or at least Ben and Amy to be in the same band again. That was decent music, AND Amy can write some pretty decent piano counterparts. I dunnoooooooooooooo this really seems like a big SCREW YOU on both sides.

True it doesn't, but what you aren't going to make up in complexity, you could at least make up in being catchy. I found Evanescence's Fallen to be pretty enjoyable, but other then then I never really cared for what they offered.

While it's silly to compare the bands in terms of popularity, it's still a reasonable analogy, I think. Both involve successful bands with long-standing lineups being pulled apart by drama queens having hissy fits. Except with Evanescence, the drama queen got to keep the band's name, whereas the drama queen was unceremoniously kicked out of Nightwish (and rightfully so, considering Tuomas was the brains behind the band AND the real songwriting talent, whereas Tarja was a grossly overrated trollop). Moody got shafted, if you ask me.

The Open Door was a waste of cash, but meh, what can you do.

These are the kinds of bands that I don't really buy albums from and get into. I buy individual songs from them, which are often forgetable for me and don't see much play-time. neutral

You know about Origin right? Let's assum for times sake you don't. Listen to these: Lies (Origin)* Give Unto Me (Sound Asleep EP)* Exodus (Evanescence EP)* Solitude (Evanescence EP) Understanding (Sound Asleep EP/Evanescence EP) Untitled (sometimes called Bleed) Away From Me (Origin)* *mean they are some of my personal favorites. This will give you a pretty good feel for some of their older more atmospheric stuff. Gee wiz, I'm still a bloody fan. Next time they come here, I'm dishing out the $80 and seeing them live. Ev lemmings and all. gonk heart stressed ^conflicted
