Squad five's training ground was placed strategically near a river and lush bamboo forest for a reason. This reason being to aid the new shinigami looking to learn Kidou arts. Along with a large spacious dojo to train indoors as well, made squad five an excellent place to train. As a captain, Manji was strict, yet easy going, laid back when appropriate and other times he was aggressive. In any case, towards aspiring shinigami, he was kind, teaching by the golden rule of respect, which was respect those who respect you.

The captain, Manji, stood just inside the dojo, puffing on a packed kiseru, slowly blowing smoke rings, while his sword hand rested on the hilt of his Zanpakuto. Manji's face was scared over his left eye and cheek, but did not harm his emerald green eye. With burning orange hair he stood at an impressive six one, with a built, toned body that took years of sword swinging to obtain. Standing there, looking out one of the many windows, admiring the beauty of the sun setting over the rustling river as he waits for any shinigami looking to learn the kidou arts after the fall of the old seritei and since many fled from the attacking hollows, he wasn't even sure if anyone was even going to show. In any case he was ready to teach all but two of the kidou skills. The last two, 90 and 99 were much too powerful to be entrusted in a beginning shinigami, these were the captains aces in the hole.

Manji was known for being particularly hard on his students, one of the many things he enjoyed doing was making his pupils strap on an hundred pound vest, then continue to train. Each student, once accepted in squad five, a shinigami is issued two training outfits, a boken, and this iron plated vest as standard equipment. From the moment a member of squad five wakes up, it's mandatory that the weighted vest be put on, and worn throughout the day, until it's time to sleep and only when it's time to sleep. This ensured the young shinigami's would be putting forth all of their efforts in even the easiest of training.

Manji of course could sense the spiritual power of another captain entering the main training area and remains standing there until she bows, and that's when he turns around and looks at her, a slight grin across his scared face before he speaks. "You don't need to bow, only my students bow, your a captain." Smiling slightly before setting his kiseru down. " So what's up captain of squad two? What do I owe the great pleasure of having someone like you honor our humble dojo with your presence." Moving closer to her he extends a hand to help her stand back up. Now that he stood closer to her he inspected her Zanpakuto, while his right hand never left the hilt of his own.

Grins when she stands then makes her intentions clear and once she took stance his eyes scanned over her posture, how her feet were positioned, which leg was she putting most of her weight on, so that he could possible target that leg and knock her off balance, not to mention he focused on her spiritual energy, all these things ran through his mind in a matter of seconds before he replies. " Absolutely, did you want to use Zanpakuto's or not?" With that Manji took stance as well, shifting his weight to his back leg before releasing an small amount of his spiritual energy which gave off enough force to crack the stone tiles under his feet.

Slowly Manji grips the handle of his Zanpakuto tightly, then begins to slowly unsheathe his blade. Letting the last few inches of that hardened steel snap from it's sheath as the setting sun glints upon the smooth, flawless reflective finish on his blade. Manji held his Zanpakuto in his right hand, while his left remains on the sheath. "Prepare yourself captain. " With that Manji's spiritual power exploded, and literally he uses the momentum of the power surge to lunge at Kira, with his Zanpakuto, Zetsumei, Of course the captain was only using less then a quarter of his full power, and the attack was much too slow to be intended to strike her. At the moment he was just feeling her out, to see how skillful the squad two captain was.

"Should be!" Manji charged at her, although he could have used flash step he didn't, instead he approached her head on. With his Zanpakuto, Zetsumei raised, above the shoulder, as the captain moved with incredible speed towards her. Once only a few feet from her, Manji pushes off his back foot and leaps into the air, coming down from above her with his Zanpakuto ready to strike, although Manji made it easy for his feet and movements to be tracked.

After she flash steps, Manji turns just in the nick of time to deflect her white lightning attack, or Hadou 4, by clashing his Zanpakuto against the powerful reiatsu, which once deflected, smashes against the ground, turning a large five foot radius of stone tile into ruble, before her second attack hits, Manji shunpo's out of the way, and seemingly disappearing, although after several moments he reveals himself as he points with two fingers then calls out demandingly. "Bakudou 75! Gochuu Tekan!" Once performing the binding technique, Manji once again flash steps right in front of her, his face and body inches from hers. " Your Kidou skills are impressive."

Manji Smirked and moved his head a bit closer as well, although when she was prepared to strike with her charged fist one of his hands snaps down to grip her wrist. With their bodies still nearly touching he pushes her towards the wall. Once her back hits the way his body pinned her against it. With a smirk Manji replied. " I'm a master at hand to hand combat. " Then slowly he moves in as if he were going to kiss her neck as his Zanpakuto rested at his side.

Right before her blade tries to slash at his back, Manji, shunpo's from harms way. Moving so quick that in a blink of an eye he was gone. Once reappearing the words "Hadou 63 Raikouhou!" With both his hands glowing with raw spiritual power, he releases a long drawn out grunt as he collects reiatsu in his hands. Once satisfied with the power his hands clash together and a large wave of destructive reiatsu is slung from his hands towards her.
