The circus tent was full of kids and adults, making it a bit hard for them to find spots. Ker shooed Jordi down an aisle, carrying a barely awake Coba in her arms. Jordi sighed and looked down at what she was stepping on, making a face as she barely missed a gob of chewed gum. Disgustinnngggg. Not that she showed that thought. She had once traumatized Carmel by picking boogers, after all.
She pulled herself onto the bench next to a familiar looking girl, then looked at her for a long moment, something clicking in her memory. "Shiraz?" she asked.

The bear girl turned and blinked, smiling some. This was that girl she'd met before - the one who was supposed to grow a beard. Looked like she was succeeding at it. "Lo!" she said cheerily, "Your beard is nice." Not that the child realized at all that it wasn't a full beard yet, or even that the girl had grown. She just had established that there was facial hair now.

"I'm workin' on it," Jordi said modestly. She glanced at the empty circle in front of them, kicking her feet thoughtfully. "You ever been to one of these before?" she asked Shiraz, when it seemed that nothing was going to happen.

The bear girl thought for a moment and shook her head. "Nope. Never." she said softly, "Have you? This looks boring so far." Honestly, the Panda didn't even know why her brother and sister had wanted to come here. Sinny and Ebby had brought her in an attempt at them once again getting out of the house.

Before Jordi could reply the lights went down and a shining spotlight lit up a man in the middle of the ring. "Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and Girls! Welcome to the greatest show on Earth!"
Tinny music poured over them as a giant parade of animals and people in strange outfits came out, going around the large clearing in the middle of the tent. They waved happily, throwing kisses from the backs of elephants, while dogs hopped on their back legs with feathers on their heads. It was loud and gaudy and Jordan couldn't help but wonder where the trains were.
She paused as a large woman with a beard walked past. "My Ma's beard is better," she bragged.

Shiraz peered at the woman. Really, for a title such as 'the bearded lady' as the announcer had said, she didn't have much of a beard. Already Jordan's little cheek fluff was much grander and more convincing. This lady barely had any thickness or length to hers, and it neither looked like it belonged in the 'greatest show on earth'.
The panda girl nodded to her friend. "I bet." she said with a nod, "Your beard s'better 'ready." the girl added with a mumble.

"It's gonna be," Jordi agreed, reaching up to pat her little baby fuzz, as her mother called it. "I'm gonna have a great beard--"
She stopped as the clowns came on, watching them curiously for a long moment. Then she grinned. "I like them better," she decided. "They're funny."

The furred girl watched and nodded after a while. "Kinda f'nny, ya." she mumbled before her eye was caught by something. "oooooooo! Wassat?"
It was a large grandly painted cannon being wheeled in, a couple in helmets and shiny body suits standing on top, holding hands as they waved to the crowd and bowed. The panda had never seen such a thing nor people dressed in that way and it made her curious. Whatever could this thing be for?

Jordi watched with equal wonder as they shot a guy out of the cannon. Then promptly exclaimed, "I wanna do that!!" She reached up, tugging on her dad's jacket. "I wanna do that! Let me go do that?"
"No way in he--" He stopped, elbowed by Ker. "Not until you're older, okay? Much, much, much older."
She frowned, turning back to the show before glancing at the panda. "I bet I could do it now."

"But you don't have a sp'rkly swewt." the bear pointed out, blinking, "N' wouldn't the hat be itchy on your beard?"
About then, tigers were being brought out and forced to jump through fiery hoops. "eew, that looks no fun. S'hot out, n'they has fur. Don't makem jump through fira."

Jordan nodded, although she would have never thought of that until the bear girl had pointed it out. "Hey, think Coba could do that?" she asked. "He's good at jumpin." She was already picturing her own miniature circus, one that would be much better than the one in front of them.

The panda furrowed her brow. "Who?" She wasn't sure she knew a 'Coba' not that the girl was very good with names anyway. She could have met this person and not know it.

"He's my little brother," Jordan said. "You haven't met him yet, right? He's sitting on my dad's lap," she added, leaning around her mother to point at her dad. There was a sleepy looking gargoyle lounging on his lap and watching the show. "He's not really awake yet."

The panda leaned forward in her seat a great deal to peer at the sleepy toddler. Well, he looked interesting, at the very least. "Ohh. Maybe, f'he's really good at jumpin." she agreed. "Though you'd havta be careful. You'd gettin trouble if he got burnted fallin while jumpin through a flamy ring."
Now a bunch of strange people were flipping and jumping around while holding on to funny swings from the ceiling. These weren't like normal swings - they were just bars, though the one girl did sit on them for a bit. This was weird!

"Whoa," Jordi said, obviously impressed. "You think they get dizzy?" She paused, thinking about it and getting irritable. The only person she knew that could probably do something like that was Carmel. She didn't want Carmel in her circus! Carmel would brag that she was the best in the show! And what was worse, what was so much worse, was that she would probably be right!
Irritably she waited for the next show to come on, glaring at the ladies in tights a bit dangerously.
