Lee fumbled around the bedroom, packing away the few articles of clothing she'd managed to smuggle with her. This would be a long stay, she predicted, and felt even more confident from the chats she and Faolan had earlier. No matter what she chose, she may end up staying here for quite a while. Though she had to admit that she missed having servants around to do her unpacking for her.
Lee looked through the drawers of clothing, trying to find an empty space she could fill with her own things. She tried her best not to look at any unmentionables and hoped everyone else would do the same with hers. Sharing a small space with others had its ups and downs. Not knowing how to fold clothing, she shoved everything she could fit into the corner of one of the bottom drawers. That would work for now. At least Ellandra or Faolan weren't watching to see her horrible house-keeping skills first hand.

Faolan sat at the table in the front room, humming a jaunty old traditional didikai tune while working at the books for his fortune-telling booth. He had one ear cocked back, listening to Lee move around in the bedroom, but let the girl be for now. After all, she knew where he was if she needed him for anything.

Oh geez, this looked terrible. And it's not like they wouldn't see this abomination later. Pulling out the clothes stuffed in the drawer, Lee took a shirt and laid it into the drawer flat; much less messy, but it didn't fit. Folding in the corners to keep it from hanging out the sides, she still hadn't done it right. When comparing her's to Faolan's and Ellandra's clothes, it looked like it had been put away by a five-year-old. In fact, a five-year-old probably could have done better. Hanging her head in defeat, she pulled it back out and stood up, peeking her head into the front room. Just ask him already... "F-Faolan... Do you know how to fold clothes?" Surely he was less pathetic than she was. He'd gotten along just fine before Ellandra showed up, hadn't he?

Faolan turned to face her, left arm resting on the back of his chair to give her the full view of the tribal tattoo marking the bare skin of his arm and torso. "Aye, lass, I do. You need some help?" He moved to stand up and walk to the bedroom. "It's nae that hard, but I'll give you a hand if you want."

What was that? When did he get that done? Lee bit her nail as she admired Faolan's tattoo. He was looking better and better every time she looked at him it seemed. Smiling as he got up to help her, she moved a bit to show her sorry attempts and the mess she'd made in the process. "Not that hard" He must think this is pathetic. "I-I just... I've never had to do this before... that's the only reason I dun know how." Sure it was, Lee. It had nothing to do with being flat out incompetent, right?

"I weren't born knowin' how to do this, either, little love," Fao chuckled, moving to stand beside her and fold clothes. "Here, it's pretty easy to fold the clothes once you get the hang of it. Puttin' it in the drawer right is sometimes still a challenge. You know, I weren't much younger'n you when I got moved out on my own."
He bumped her shoulder gently with his own, feeling a little playful with the girl. "It's a bit weird, yeah, bein' on your own in a way? Think o' this time wi' us as a chance to learnin' how to do these sorts of things. Elle an' me will help you. If'n you decide not to stay wi' us, then you'll be alright alone, eh?"

Lee smiled to herself as Faolan eased her embarrassment. Taking a shirt in her hands, she tried to do as Faolan did, straightening, tugging, and folding as best she could. The end product didn't look nearly as neat as his, but it was certainly an improvement. She did, however, leave the task of placing the clothes into the drawer to him. She sat back with her hands in her lap and gave up trying. She'd certainly brought more clothes than she needed.
Faolan had only been seventeen when he moved out? For some reason that didn't sound surprising. "You lived in Farstep still, though, right? I mean, you weren't very far from your dad were you...?" Only a bit weird? More like, living in a totally different world. While that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, it definitely took some getting used to. He made this whole thing sound like boot camp, though.
Lee's mind was starting to wander, but her thoughts were suddenly brought back when she remembered Ziazan's suggestion from a few days ago. "F-Faolan... are you sure you and Ellandra are gonna be able to fit in that bed? I mean... shouldn't you test it?" She wasn't about to be too forward, as the very proposal was a little much for Lee.

Faolan tucked the clothes away in the drawers, silent on how much there was of it. He'd talk with the girl later about selling some clothes in favor of being given some from the carnival. Shrugging a bit at her first question, he shut the drawer and looked at her, leaning back against the dresser and closed doors of the cabinet bed.
"I was twelve when Da threw me out," Faolan said, not bothered by it. "He set me up with my first vardo as close to his as he could so I could always get help if I needed it. As I got older, I moved further away. Then Elle moved in with me and Da helped me trade my old vardo in for this'un. It's across the camps from Da, but I know he's always there for me. Plus, I do have the clan to help, too" He smiled at her. "As do you now."
At her next question, he glanced back at the cabinet then grinned at the girl, ears moving back a bit adding to the impishness of his smile. "Got an idea on who I should be testin' it with? I donnae think Elle can get up there wi' me in her present condition."

"T-twelve?! Is that legal--" Oh, right, they were in Farstep. Gathering herself, Lee rubbed her shoulder as she spoke. "Wow. I'm seventeen and I still wouldn't be able to live on my own." The only reason she'd been able to do so well so far was through Faolan and Ellandra's help. Either Faolan was amazing or she was pathetic. Or a bit of both.
Hearing Faolan talk about his dad... it was quite depressing. She'd never had that kind of bond with anyone, and here he had a whole camp of people to rely on. They were really from completely different worlds, weren't they? Lee bit her nail as Faolan told her that she also had the camp to help her. The problem was... she wasn't sure she would want to, or even be able to ask for the help. It was bad enough asking Faolan and Ellandra, and she knew them pretty well. The girl simply smiled and nodded at him, though, thinking that, with time, surely she'd meet others. Surely these two wouldn't be the only people she'd befriend while she was here.
Looking down and tugging at her hair, her sullen mood was quickly replaced with embarrassment. "Well..." she started, tugging at her hair. "Ziazan just said... I mean... I guess..." Out with it, girl. "Me?" She couldn't get herself to look at him, but she knew that it was unlikely that it was as big a deal to him as it was to her.

"No, twelve ain't legal, even by our traditions, but Da caught me havin' a go wi' this girl--me first time at it, actually--an' after beatin' the s**t outta me, he decided I'd be better off in me own place," Faolan explained, moving to open the cabinet bed doors. "I knows that sounds harsh, too, by your standards, but that donnae mean we donnae love each other."
He reached over and patted the girl's knee. "Come on, lass. Let's be tryin' out the bed." He put his hands back on it and hoisted himself up and back into it, then disappeared inside as he moved to lie down within the cabinet bed.

Lee was beyond speechless. That was quiet the story, and, admittedly, one that she really didn't understand. Keagan sounded even more frightening, and Lee looked to her lap with worry. Scary Keagan was going to be her father-in-law?
Ah, okay, enough worrying. Lee hopped up and followed Faolan's lead, climbing into the cabinet with only a small struggle, all the while with a small blush on her face. Carefully, she laid back, looking up at the top of the cabinet with her back stiff against the bottom. "Yep, you'll fit." She sat up once more, thoroughly embarrassed and half wishing she'd never suggested it. Why she thought this would be a good idea, she didn't know.

"Aye, lass, I will," Faolan purred, propping his head up on his hand, laying on his side to face her, his other hand resting on her stomach now that she was lying beside her. "Feels even better wi' two in here, though, eh?" He scooted a little closer, snug against her side.
"Feelin' like you belong here yet?" he asked softly, eyes half-closed in his relaxation. "Hopin' you're startin' to feel at home now. You are home, you know."

Lee's heart began to race as Faolan curled up closer to her, and her whole body tensed up even more. How could Ellandra handle this? Squeezing her eyes shut, she tried to calm herself enough to answer him. "It's... cramped." While it may have been more than enough room for Faolan and Ellandra, Lee couldn't help but feel a little claustrophobic. Then again, it could have just been the fact that she was lying in bed with Faolan.
His next question was enough to get her to actually look at him in surprise. Her face relaxed, her body calmed, and a somewhat somber mood overtook her. I don't. But somehow, telling Faolan what he wanted to hear was her first instinct. "Yeah... I know." This was home, and even with Faolan and Ellandra being so supportive, she felt out of place.

"Well, more cramped for me bein' so tall, yeah," Faolan laughed, moving his hand from the girl's stomach to stroke her hair. "I prefer to think of this as cozy."
He gave her a look at the answer to his next question. "You say that, girl, but your heart donnae seem in it. Wanna talk on it?"
