The hyperactive foal skidded about a corner, giggling quietly to himself as he cast furtive glances over his shoulder, checking to see if he was being followed.
I did it! I escaped. With a rather giddy smile, he stopped and peered around, his cerulean eyes shining in excitement. He'd successfully managed to escape his parent's watchful gaze! Of course, that was only 'cause they were sleeping... and his siblings were snoring away contently... but... still, he did it!
His smile faded slightly as he stared around at the spooky forest, illuminated by the cool light of the moon. An owl hooted in the dark.
He gulped, eyes widening.

Skull Cat wandered over to the pond near where his family lived. He liked getting a chance to wander off alone sometimes. The night was quiet, except the hoot of an occasional owl, and the air was cooler. Plus, he could see the ground by the light of his tiny horn.
He dipped down to take a drink from the pond, giggling when the fish scattered from the sudden light. He looked up, glancing at the trees. He wondered if there was any moss low enough on the bark to nibble on.

It was too dark to go exploring... he might get lost.
It was probably too late to find someone to play with.
It was-
He stopped, tilting his head to one side at the queer glowing... thing... that shone from beyond the nearest set of trees.
He approached cautiously, head down low, ready to flee at the first sign of danger. A twig cracked beneath his little hoof as he poked his head around the base of a tree.
Uh-oh. "H-h-hello?" he piped, his squeaky voice a decibel higher than normal.
