OKay so I am a flute player trying to learn how to play the trumpet, but I am miles away from any music store becuase I am in Texas and where my grandparents live there is nothing around. I dont get back till school starts up again and I am wondering how do I start out? What is "buzzing" and how do I do it? What do I have to tighten in my mouth?

well i hope you have a trumet first off
and second buzzing is when you play on the trumepts mouthpiece
just the mouthpiece
tighten your lips and keep your jaw open
and push with your lungs and not your throat

Wait so I am supposed to tigten my mouth, but keep my jaw open. question Does that mean I have to keep my teeth open?

its almost like holding your breath.breathe in tighten your lips but just tighten your lips.everything else like the jaw should happen by its self.then buzzing is usually just a warm up by getting your lips used to the feeling of playing.it took me a while to figure it out.but now its all like 2+2 for me.if you need anything else just tell meeee biggrin

When blowing is your top lip supposed to come out above your bottom lip? question I cant seem to get it when I work with my mouth peice. All I get is air am I holding my lips wrong? Do I make a circle with my lips?

Basically just press your lips together tight (I think usually the corners of your mouth end up being the tightest), then bring the mouthpiece up to your mouth.
You need to keep your lips tight enough so that when you blow through them (still tight), they'll buzz. Just do that into the mouthpiece.
Don't actually close your whole mouth--your teeth shouldn't be touching.

When I play, my top lip doesn't really go out more than my lower one... it's about even. But as long as you can get a nice sound, I guess it's personal preference.
You don't want to make a circle with your lips, they should be pretty much straight, other than the corners of your mouth which might go down a little bit.
If you're still having trouble, try to make a "spitting" noise with just your lips, if that makes sense. D:

The lip thing it a problem with your lip strength. You need to keep your upper lip in place. It takes a while to build up strength in the mouth but once you have it, it gets easier to play.
Hope this helped!!

try squeezing an m&m between your lips, it can help your lip shape, that's how my band director taught us at least.
