The Canyon Battlefield The Canyon walls toward high towards the ceiling while the ground sinks downwards several levels, making the top and bottom of the field very difficult to see without special equipment. The cliff faces themselves are very steep with little ridge support for grabbing and climbing; on top of that, the rock faces themselves are very damp (moss is also present due to the continuous moisture) which makes grabbing and holding on very difficult. A few skinny trees and roots jut out from the cliff, announcing an option for land-based pokemon such as to grab and swing; however, these cannot bare that much weight and WILL break if such a thing happens. At the very bottom of the canyon’s long drop is a deep pool of water. Visually is difficult for trainers on this particular battlefield, so stadium officials have set up a special view screen on each of the trainer platforms. A mini camera will follow your pokemon around while it battles (of course, it’s programmed to back off when a pokemon does an attack) and the view screen will enable trainers to issue commands to their companions via microphone. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FLYING type attacks.

Carter heaved a heavy sigh, here we go again. Another battle, and probably another painful loss. At least this time the view was a pleasant one. Adjusting the view screen to his liking, the ex-officer placed the microphone on his head. "Testing, Testing." Once satisfied that he could hear his voice echoing in the canyon setting, he pulled his prized pokeball from his belt and tossed it with feigned gusto onto the field. "Let's go Yero!"
The Growlithe burst forth from the pokemon, landing upon one of the ridges with a loud howl. Unlike his trainer, Yero was eager for another battle no matter what the outcome was. Battling was like the pokemon's crack, and it had been too long since his last fix.
"We're at a clear disadvantage with this field. Watch your step Yero!" Certainly, the field would even out the type disadvantage for the opponents Misdreavus.

Lisa sighed as she came in and saw the familiar canyon field. She had suffered a loss due to her floor bound Houndoom last time. This time, however, the tables had turned. "Well, Merlin," Lisa tossed her ghost's great ball into the air, releasing the Misdreavus inside, "Let's see what you can do."
Merlin chuckled as he came out. Finally, his trainer was treating him to a battle. He had suffered all to much from the taunting of Lisa's first Pokemon, a Cerberex, about not having battled. He floated onto the field in a rush of glee. The canyon below only made him more giddy. He could float, the little pup he was facing couldn't. This would be a good battle indeed, the ghost mused to himself.

"Let's go! Stun that growlieth with Thunder Wave!" Lisa commanded. She hoped to gain a couple of more turns to her advantage with this.
With a flourish of his robe like body and a cackle, Merlin sent small waves of electricity from each of his necklace gems. "Alright, young pup, are you ready for a stunning performance?

Despite his limited mobility, Yero was able to narrowly avoid the Merlin's attack. Crouching onto his back haunches he sprung forward and leaped from the shelf right as the blast contacted. Watching the screen, Carter let out the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding in. "Good job Yero, use the shelf to propel yourself upwards. Formation..." He paused, come on you left that life behind. "Er...Retaliate with Crunch!
Yero gave a snort at his opponents taunting, but instead of barking back, he focused on pushing himself up the cliff. When his feet contacted upon a particularly sturdy shelf he launched himself in the air, aiming right for his opponent, his jaws open wide for a Crunch Attack

[oww. The dice hate me. D|]
Merlin, who had been sure his attack would hit, was quite surprised to be caught off guard by the snapping of teeth tearing at his form. It was a heavy blow, and Merlin only barely recovered from the shock.
Lisa sighed. She should have known that taking an inexperienced Pokemon in was not the brightest idea. Oh well, the battle was, after all, only beginning. "Merlin! Don't let that Growlithe get the better of you! Hit it with Power Gem!"
Merlin grinned. One thing he could count on was his trainer's smarts. He cackled as his neck gems made glowing copies of themselves that charged at the fire type like some sort of machine gun.

[Trust me, it's the first decent roll I've had here hah]
Yero didn't have much time to regain his balance after his attack. The ledges weren't sutible to holding the weight of the Growlithe, and once he had found one that finally would, Merlin's attack was already on his way. Yero attempted to dodge, but the attack hit him on his flanks, and he rolled over momentarily stunned.
Carter winced at the direct hit. A few more hits like that and this would be over. His balled his hands into fists, "Get up Yero, you can do it. Aerial Ace!"
Yero took a limping step forward and rolled before sprining off of his hind legs and launching himself once again at Merlin. "You're mine!"
