How it came to be...
Xibalba, leader of a clan of rogue lions and hyenas, tricked Queen Kiuma and Hippolyta, the heir, to travel to the edge of the pride to meet her 'mate'. There, the pair were separated in an ambush and Kiuma fell under the claws of the males. Hippolyta was beaten soundly and warned that she would be killed if found within the lands by any of the group. Fearing for her life, she fled to warn the pride not to fight the usurpers and risk their precious cubs, then took herself into exile to heal and seek support for rebellion.
Now, the group has moved in to cow any left who rebel and establish a new leadership over the pride. The old rule forbidding males has been abolished and the females have become little more than slaves for their pleasure, in any form.
OOCly:
- I still own the pride, but Chibi and Sou will be unofficial leaders, making up temporary rules that I approve.
- Our current cubs will be allowed to grow to roughly adolescence or around there before Hippolyta will be ready to return and drive out the rogue group.
- The group will be added to the memberlist so everyone knows who's who, so they can make up plotting. Nothing will happen to your lioness that you don't approve of, but we encourage you to have fun rping!
- Breeding is still open, but joining to the full pride is temporarily closed. If you want your lioness to join, have her join up with Hippolyta's rebels and she can become a full member when the pride rebands.

NEW PRIDE RULES – as written by Ushindi
1. Ushindi is the One True King. He takes orders from no one and only councils with his brothers and Xibalba. His word is law.
2. Males above females, even if they are cubs. Respect your superiors.
3. Xibalba and Alkar'kano are above all pride females because they have proved their worth. Their word is as good as the law, provided it is backed by Ushindi.
4. Keep your head down and do as you're told. Punishment awaits those who feel the need to be disobedient or rebellious. Cubs will be punished if no one owns up for a crime.
5. Your job is to keep the males well fed and comfortable. Males eat first, then Xibalba and Alkar'kano, then the hyenas. You may have your fill once they have eaten.
6. If a male bids you come to his den you go.
OOC Stuff
- We won't do anything ICly you don't volunteer to do. If you don't want anything bad to happen to your lioness in this plot that is entirely up to you and we will respect that. Similarly, please let us know if you intend to do something with any of the usurper lions/hyenas. For example, please don't roleplay as if the hyenas have been going around chewing on cubs tails and your lioness is going to kill one of them unless you've poked the player first.
- That being said, plots are welcome! Plots that will affect the entire structure of the group should be run by me (Chibi Sheepcat) just so I have a heads up. Plots that only involve one of the members of the group need only be run by the player of that lion.
- Breeding is at the discretion of the people involved. If you want your lioness to have cubs by an usurper male, by all means go for it. How the cubs are divided up after the males are beaten will be between the owner of the lioness and the owner of the lion. It is highly probable that anyone from Ushindi's little group will try and take sons with them when they split.
- If you have any questions/concerns please feel free to PM me! Blue and I want this to be an enjoyable (XD) plot for everyone involved, so don't hesitate if you have anything you need to say.

Bump it up!
Hippolyta's daughter, Calypso, has finally reached adolescence, so that means its time to move on with the plot!
I need to do a quick census to see where everyone is, so look out for that thread in a bit.
Some changes the pride will face:
- No males, again. This was pretty obvious, but Hippy is sticking to her mother's rules. All adult and adolescent males are driven out immediately, and there is a good chance that some of the more zealous females might do them some damage on the way. The usurpers for sure will get smacked around some, and even males born into the pride might get a little roughed up if they happen to be unlucky enough to run into a female looking for a fight on the way out. Opinions in the pride run from flat-out hate to fond feelings, so it all really depends on who they run into during the chaos of the coup.
- New Priestess rank. Hippy's new Consort, Ebere, will be the first to fill the rank of priestess, but its now open to others to join.
These changes will take place more slowly, where the above ones are instituted immediately:
- Commemorating the fallen. Hippy has decided to start up a sort of ancestor worship in the pride. Females may or may not follow these beliefs, since its a very new thing, but it will start with the queen building a very small stone shrine to her mother next to the waterfall at the top of the den cliff. She believes that her mother was too strong a spirit to have just moved on like others think, but would have stayed to watch over the pride. She builds the shrine as a place for her spirit to live and gives the new priestess(es) the task of up-keeping the shrine. Others will be encourage to do the same for their ancestor females and the priestesses will also upkeep those. More information on what this means for the pride will come later.
- Training starts at birth. The pride can no longer afford to be lax about its protection. Cubs will now be separated into two groups; keepers and protectors. Their education will center around which of the two sets of jobs they'll grow into, with a majority of them going into the protector category to become fighters for the pride. More info to come on this later, but it may include a bit of reorganization of the ranks and their names.
- Proving their worth. New members will now be required to perform some kind of task to prove they are trustworthy enough to join. It hasn't been decided just what this will be yet, but more info will come later.
- Queen's elite guard. Hippy knows the pride needs some sort of presence in the world, but at the same time, it needs to stay secluded for its protection. There may be a small group forming that does paroling outside the pride to help females in need and perform tasks for the queen. If the queen ever leaves the lands, she'll take a few guards with her for protection as well. This may consist of young females from the protector category, and everyone may take a turn at it before 'retiring' to a different job. Some may stay in the group, if they prefer it. It may be a sort of training or coming of age thing, we're undecided.
Also! Sergeant Sargent has been invited to co-own the pride with me. ^_^ You're free to go to her or I with questions and she also has the power to accept people to the pride.
Everyone is free to post with questions or thoughts on the above listed changes, especially the things we don't have a lot of information about yet. We won't put anything into place that you guys don't like, so make sure you speak up! If you have a good idea, share it, we might use it!

What's happened:
When Hippy had gathered enough females and recovered from her wounding at the paws of the males, she returned to her pride and took it back in a viscous battle. Many females rose up against the usurpers while others guarded the cubs against being used as hostages. Many of the males were beaten soundly and chased from the pride's lands, but there were many wounds on both sides. Unfortunately for Hippy, the scheming Xibalba had heard of the coming fight and fled the pride with her cubs and a few chosen males, stealing her revenge.
After setting the few females that died in the fight to rest with thanks for their service, Hippy introduced her new mate and consort, Ebere to the pride along with her three leopon daughters, now ranked as princesses of the pride. Some new rules have been laid before the assembled lionesses, and while there is some room to dispute them, they're most likely to be put into place as soon as the working of them is settled. New ranks are opening up and some organization taking place.
The reunion between Hippy and her daughter Calypso was a tension filled one, the connection of mother and cub lost in the time the queen was missing. Now an adult, Calypso is as strange as ever and now an outsider to the pride of her own choice. Only time will tell if she's truly a fit heir to the pride, though her mother refuses to consider choosing anyone else.
