Ico was pretty tired and it could be seen. She had put her heart out on the line but felt like things would probably go no where and well, that hurt her she had after all… truly felt a connection. But, with how things were going knew that deep down it would fail. With a heavy sigh the black and white spotted lioness rolled onto her back and yawned, gazing out at the sea as she rested under hot sun.
“Mmm.”
She sighed, closing her gray eyes for a second, as if to think about this whole situation.
Just like Ico, Tau felt pretty down too. He has been in-love with someone who would never be able to return his feelings, and this was hard for him to deal with. He had wanted it to work so badly, but he knew he would never be able to force his. F it didn’t work it just didn’t work and now, after a lot of thinking and self-searching he knew that.
Tau walked up to the beach and gazed out at the lands before him; with a tilted head he noticed a figure he had never seen before. So, out of curiosity he moved forward, hoping to introduce himself.
“Hello there.”
Ico’s ears twitched as she turned and sat up, her chest ruffling as she squinted her eyes to see who it was that had called out to her. As soon as her gaze settled and smiled and stood up, speaking out.
“Hello.”
She assumed he was a pride member.
“My name is Ico.”
She made it a point to let him know.
“Ico.”
He smiled and stopped about five feet away from her, sitting down softly. His mix-matched paws side by side.
“I’m Tau. You new?”
“Sort of. I moved here not too long ago.”
She smiled and answered, nodding her head softly. ‘And you? I’m guessing you are from here.”
“Born and raised.”
He chuckled and nodded, his ruffles mane dancing against his face and ears as the wind blew by. His golden frame was a little bit larger than hers; it was probably because he was more furry.
“How do you like it here?”
He asked, making small talk.
“It’s wonderful.”
She answered and nodded softly, her eyes pinned to his.
“It’s like I got a second chance at a happy life. I love it. I’ve become a lover of the sea, too.”
"That's good."
He nodded and smiled back at her.
"I'm glad you feel at peace here."
Tau seemed a little distant, as if his mind was else where, though... he wouldn't show it right away, no. It took Ico sometime to notice his expression.
"What's wrong?"
Ico asked with a soft frown, as if she was worried about him.
"Me? What? No, it's fine. Nothing is wrong. You don't need to worry."
He nodded at her.
"It would be rude of me to put all of my troubles onto someone i've just met, you know?"
He smiled at her again and sat himself down. His creamy colored fur was so bright next to her's, she was rather dull in colors after all.
"So, tell me Ico-- about yourself? You have a family here, or?"
"Me? Family, as like... in my own? If so, than no. I don't have a fmaily, no cubs or anything."
"Haha, oh, well. I meant like.. kin, siblings?"
She blushed, feeling rather silly now. She should have known thats what he meant.
"No. My family is all split up."
She nodded slowly, sighing.
"Yours?"
Tau smiled and spoke out to her, his eyes soft.
"Yeah, I have siblings here. I was born here, remember?"
Again! She felt SO silly.
"Yes, yes. I remember. Sorry."
"it's fine."
He smiled back at her and patted the place beside himself, as if asking her to join him.
"Come watch the waves with me?"
He asked kindly.
"Mmhmm."
With a nod the lioness moved herself to sit beside her new friend, her eyes narrowing upon the sea as she sat side by side with Tau. Today was a good day.
"Want to come with me tomorrow, to fish?"
She asked out, her tone soft and a little unsure.
"Me? Fish?"
He thought for a second, as if to tease her before answering.
"I've love to. I'll meet you back here tomorrow before noon?"
"That sounds grand..."
She smiled and nodded.
"Alrighty then, it's a date."
He smiled. The two sat back and watched the sun set against the waves before parting ways. Tomorrow was going to be a good day, Ico could feel it. Things were looking up for her after all.
