so i just left the 8th grade and now im goin 2 high skool. but we got a letter in the mail saying we have summer band camp that we have 2 attend 2 august 4th. and im soo nervous, im not gonna no anyone or anything, and im already a shy girl. its gonna be ppl from the 9th grade through the 12th. help!

you dont really have to be scared.
because there's going to be people from your old gradee.
haha i thought the same thing.im in 11th grade and i was like about to pee my pants when i thought there wasnt going to be anyone i knew.haha so no worries(:

I wouldn't worry about it. even if you're shy, there willa lways be some really nice people who will talk to you. Just keep in mind that they're all just kids, like you! Sure, you don't know them, but you will, if they're all taking band in the same school as you.
Think about it this way... Would you rather meet the band kids now, and possibly make some friends befor the new school year starts, or would you rather be completely new and be meeting everyone in the whole school for the first time aon your first day in the Ninth grade?
smile and if anyone gives you trouble, just tell them your shamrock fairy friend in canada will kick their butts for you... Jokes...

lol thanks you guys. but im still very nervous, and everyone said that 2 me so far like "ur gonna meet ppl b4 u actually start the year! ur so lucky!" lol and i will be sure 2 tell them about my shamrock fairy friend xD

wow ummm dont worry everyone in band is almost nice and it will be fun i had fun my 9th grade year so yeah and we start are band camp in july 21 so i am almost going to be with my friends for my last year in band cry cry cry

: D If it makes you feel any better I was the only wind player from my school at my Band camp when I was a Freshman. I'm a junior now and can say that I'm friends with almost everyone now. It's like a family!
The other people I knew from middle school band were a purcussionst who was at a sperate session for just his section, and the other flute player who was with the colorguard.
I was all all alone and sat by myself for a few days before I made some friends within my section. By the third day of camp you'll be a social butterfly. No worries! You'll be fine! Band people are super friendly and it should be the upperclassmens job to make all the freshman feel welcome!

band camp is always fun. my freshman year, it got cut short, because our band director was leaving us. our new one is okay, and we still have fun. wink
|

The best part about band camp is that you get to meet people you wouldn't otherwise be friends with.
Just force yourself out of your shell a little and get to know people. Trust me, it feels great. biggrin

Well, you think you got it bad. I started band camp on the year I moved to my school. So I had never met anyone. That, and I was pathetic. They all out played me a long shot. I had been plying for 4 years, and I plyed worse than their rookies. But you have to keep in mind that this is a team you are a part of. You share a common goal and passion. Yeah, there will be jerks, but you have to keep in mind that you all want the same thing. So get out there and show them that you want it. 3nodding Good luck.

I actually joined my marching band when I left 7th grade and was going into 8th and I felt the exact same way. I was extremely inexperienced and was afraid to play in front of other members. If your band is anything like mine, people will go out of their way to help you and get to know you. For our June mini-camp, everyone goes around wearing name tags and each section usually does introduction games. Band is probably going to get you out of your comfort zone, so the best thing to do is just leave your fears behind. Band camp is usually a great experience and I hope it is for you. I wish you luck!

it's going to be fine. your probably going to be with your friends or people you know. that helps, because you won't feel quite as alone, and it will make you feel more comfortable too.
