The soft July air breezed through and between the dens, catching the black puppy's fur and ruffling it lightly. Novik smiled, his two-toned eyes reflecting a shard of the sun. His stubby puppy tail wagged easily and his paws, which were constantly growing, lay in front of him, twitching randomly when a fly would land upon them.
The dragons upon his back coiled and uncoiled with every move he made. He rather liked to watch his reflection in the pond. He was an interesting creature, that he was certain of. He smiled as he gazed over at Gerda, curled up in the corner of the cage. He wasn't sure where Switch was. Probably with Uncle Seiphyr. Novik returned to being happy, the worries long forgotten.
But oh, it was so boring...

Shateiel was certainly the product of a new mother. How often had she managed to crawl away from her teal stare to romp off on her own, before found again and scolded? Her surrogate parent wasn't at all neglecting, just prone to the tricks of puppies and couldn't possibly keep her eyes on the pup constantly, not when she was the single parent in charge of feeding and bringing up a healthy pup, which was no easy task to be successful with when you had a wiggling adventurer like Shateiel. She certainly didn't make it any easier for Asiavik, she knew this, but that couldn't stop her willful lust for seeing a world beyond the little setting Asia had harbored her in.
This day wasn't too different from any other. She had slipped away from her mother's watch when she was off hunting, and was now waddling through the landscape with simple leisure. That wasn't to suggest her age made it difficult for her to think things through. In fact she was very cautious upon these outings, looking over her shoulder every few seconds and keeping her wits about her, but her maturity wasn't anywhere near her mother's. There was much to learn out in the wild...she just insisted on living the mistakes rather than taking notes from her mother's lectures. Her acidic dripped paws danced lightly as the pup moved forward. Her head was up, high, expressing her high strung intentions; that was, until she heard something to her right. The snap of a twig warranted a quick jump to the left with tail flying between her legs in earnest submission. Not knowing what had befallen her, the pup didn't stick around to find out what had intruded so rudely so, turning on her heel to spring off through the foliage.
It was upon stumbling through a rather thick bush that the pup stopped, toppling over her spindle legs with a quick thud. "Ooof." Twinges of pain surged through her small frame pulsating from her shoulder. She hardly cared. Instead, chocolate eyes darted back in the direction she had run, certain someone had been following her, and not knowing what was all the more daunting. But what she had failed to do was take notice to her present surroundings. Not too far from her left would be a rather unique ebony pup whose own body demanded more attention than any voice. The silence that had once resided in the lazy little nook had now been shattered.

There was a noise. Novik's head snapped up, the bristle of fur already beginning down his spine. Two-toned eyes looked around, searching for the sound. He wasn't sure -what- kind of sound it was, exactly. It just didn't sound...normal.
It made him both reproachful and curious. He picked himself up off the ground, on nimble paws once again.
He heard the 'ooof': the one who'd said it had said it pretty loudly. Novik couldn't bite back a sharp bark, scurrying to the side with a fright before curiosity piqued once more and he slowly padded over.
It was a pup. A black and green pup with paws dipped in forest flames and the markings of a skeleton on her back. He gave a small shiver; suddenly, he felt good about having such peaceful looking dragons upon his pelt and not a battered ribcage and spine.
His tail began to wiggle a bit, dropping to the ground to watch her. "H-Hi..."

The dark pup slowly pulled herself up, whipping the dust from her fur with a few hard shakes as soon a she got her ground. The voice was the first thing she noticed; not the new setting, not the quiet air, the voice. Looking toward him swiftly, Shateiel made herself ready to bolt, but upon seeing the other pup and his slender form, she grew somewhat more relaxed and even allowed a smile to slip past her maw. This stranger had greeted her and wasn't giving any sort of threatening pose. Did he mean her no harm? It certainly seemed that way. Taking advantage of the moment, the female wagged her tail lightly, observing him as she responded.
"Hey," she murmured, closing her mouth directly after. The name had a purpose when it came to this pup. Though she could speak fluently, it was almost as though the meaning of her name dictated her behavior -she never said any more than she meant and hardly talked unless addressed first. Her deep auburn eyes tinted with flakes of lavender observed the male. His dark pelt matched her own, but instead of swirling green tendrils, he was dipped in a brilliant lucid blue. And opposite of her decaying skeleton, he possessed a winding dragon. Even his eyes held her interest and from there she stared directly back into them, not minding the quiet nature of this little meeting.

She met his gaze, unblinkingly so, and he looked away shyly. Ears lowered against his head, but a smile played on his lips. His tail wagged. Hers was wagging, too, ever so lightly, and he just -knew- she wasn't one of the bad guys. Even if her fur did look like something out of a scary movie.
"I'm Novik," he said softly, slowly, watching her as his ears tilted forwards once more. He nodded his head in the direction of the dens, where mother was nodoubt still sleeping. What would she do if she found this other pup here with him? "You're not from around here, huh?" He tilted his head to one side and tested the air. Nope. Didn't have Gomorrah's musty scent.

His shy body language was a relief to see, though she hadn't expected him to be rough to begin with, as he had every opportunity in the world to attack the moment she came stumbling into his territory and opted with a simple hello. Having never met someone her own age that wasn't a sibling she grew curious with this individual and how he reacted. Was this timid behavior something he pulled with everyone or was it just because of her? Her mother didn't seem disturbed with her appearance; even her mother's mate seemed to think her alright, so naturally Shateiel had no reason to suspect it was her own fault he acted as he did. Even so, the male seemed to be pulling out of it.
Her grin grew as he offered a name. "Novik," she repeated, liking the name but hadn't the voice to say it aloud, "I'm Shateiel. You can call me Moonlil though." Her lithe body shifted slightly, observing him further though her eyes never removed themselves from his. "No," she answered him quickly, giving a truthful answer without any what she felt was unneeded information. If he had more questions she would certainly answer...but Shateiel never said more than she had to.
