Yes, I know that he kisses/is kissed by almost everyone [even Jackie and Donna xD], but since I've only watched the new series, are there any companions that the Doctor really had a commitment with? I count Rose as one, as well as River Song, but who did he LOVE in the old series?

Love?
It's up to the fanbase on that one. He didn't kiss a companion up until the TV movie, I believe.
You could say he cared about them all and you'd be right. But love? It's all interpretation in the Classic series.

Love? Not in the classic series. He began to be a bit romantic in the TV movie but other than that he doesn't "love" anyone. Well, I guess he loved his granddaughter, in a granddaughter sort of way. And he really did care about his companions, didn't want them to get into trouble, which they always did anyway. But not so much romantic love.

But not so much romantic love. Though, surely... since he HAS a granddaughter, that means he must have done somthing with someone? Perhaps he loved them? And also... in the family of blood when he didn't have his memory, he fell in love with someone. I don't think that counts though. Also, that's a kick a** pumpkin you've got there.

Just because someone has a granddaughter doesn't mean they've ever loved anyone. But Doctor/Companion romance is usually cannon. Family of Blood was in the newer series so he has already been more romantic than the classic series (he's been romantic ever since the TV movie). Also, he had human emotions because he was a human while his memory was erased and stuff. I don't think that would count either. Thanks, I was having a hard time coming up with an all orange avatar.

You could count Grace as a companion, from the movie? They kissed a few times.

From what I saw in The Curse of Fenric, he loved Ace, but I doubt they could have been romantic.

Zander_Rose From what I saw in The Curse of Fenric, he loved Ace, but I doubt they could have been romantic. Ace was what, like (in human years, not Gallifreyan)30-40 years younger than him?Highly doubt it.
