idea 6 steps to save energy in your house.List of appliances that should not be running while your doing something else.1. If the bathroom fan is still running and the smell has cleared long ago.
2. If your not using your computer and doing something else other than being on the computer.
3. If your not watching TV.
4. The heat or air condition is on and no windows should be open.
5. Have a night light that's bright enough to see. Use it to save electricity (less of it to keep your bill low). Or get one of those bulbs that uses less electricity than standard bulbs.
6. Turn off lights if your not using it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--5xG_8V-9w

And instead of using the AC/heater, use windows and shades/blinds/curtains more often. It reduces your energy bill greatly.
On a hot day, open your windows and/or close your blinds/curtains/shades. On a cold day, close your windows and/or open blinds/curtains/shades.
If your home has a thermostat, don't set it too high or low. Set it at about room temperature or a few degrees lower on a hot day. It's suggested that you keep it at about 72 degrees.

when it's too hot, and the AC's running 24/7, use that two weeks of vacation time - there's a quiet mountain grove and a tent with my name on it.

Unplugging all electronics/appliances when you're not using them saves even more power, because although something may be turned off, it still uses a small amount of electricity.
A basic rule of thumb: If the electronic has a remote control that goes with it, then it uses electricity when it's plugged in to the outlet, regardless if it's turned off or not, because it takes electricity for the remote to turn on the electronic. It takes electricity for the T.V. or whatever electronic it is to sense that the remote is trying to turn it on.
A quick and easy way to turn everything off and cut out all electricity use when you're not using an electronic is to plug them into a power strip and flick the little switch off when you're not using them. This cuts off ALL electricity, even if the power strip is plugged into the outlet.

candy gurl368 Chocolate_Chip_XD use laptops instead of computer it saves energy. actually not much since u still have to charge it and its even easier to just leave it connected to the wall. but if u wanna think that sure Yes, however you unplug the laptop from the charging cord when you use it. Then it saves energy and it won't burn out the battery. That's just like cell phones, too. When it's fully charged, you want to unplug your phone, then take out the cord from the outlet. Because energy still goes into the charging cord, so you save more if you unplug it. My family has a tredmill, and when we are done using it, you unplug it from the outlet.

Capital! I definitley agree with this! Also!!! This is VERY important!!! Make sure you UNPLUG all your appliances, too! It turns out, that even if your appliances are turned off, when your appliances are plugged in, they are still consuming energy. Make sure that when you are done with an appliance, not only to turn it off, but to unplug it, too! Peace and Love, Sazzie heart

Chocolate_Chip_XD use laptops instead of computer it saves energy. 'What saves even MORE power if using your cellphone or nintendo DS for doing "little" computer things, like checking your e-mail or following up on your favorite blogs. Many popular websites have mobile versions (like google and yahoo)

Also, unplug your appliances. Saves quite a bit of energy, even when they're turned off. If you use power bars, just turn them off.
