Name: Razaphon
Age: 62
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Oldsexual - He'd rather be in bed than "in bed". Previously, he had an eye only for the madams.
Craft: Smith Craft - Ceramics
Rank: Sr. Journeyman
Physical Description: The years have mostly been good to Razaphon, and while he's certainly not as young as he once was, you won't see him limping anywhere anytime time soon, youngin. He might walk... very... slowly, but that just gives him more time to stop and smell the roses. He stands in at a modest 5'5, weighing in at a more self-indulgent 155 lbs (is that a beer belly? for shame!).
His skin is neither exceptionally dark nor unusually light; a hint tan, that's all. His eyes are about as dark as you'll find, though, and what's left of his hair suggests it was much the same back in the youthful years. Notable features are comprised of wrinkles, stubby legs and a pair of ears that never seemed a suitable size for his big head.
Personality: According to the saying, every dog has his day. Maybe the words hold merit, but there's one breed that sometimes gets screwed over: the underdog. Razaphon is a very admired man, because even though he never got his much desired and more deserved time in the sun, he remains as bright and warm as one. A text book case of the old guy on your block who gives out apples on Halloween not to be spiteful (or fill them with razors), but because they're concerned with your health. Indeed, he always has a friendly smile and words of encouragement to try and steer those who pay him a visit in the right direction. Yeah, okay, so he likes his pastries and beer sometimes. Do as I say, not as I do.
The guy, plain and simple, has a knack for making people feel good about themselves and any situation they might find themselves in. Wise words of a wise man never in short supply, so if you ever find yourself at a total loss with no one to turn to, come stock up. Good stories, bad stories, he's just happy to be in-the-know. Besides, who hasn't made a mistake here and there? You could say he's tireless in his social conquest, but maybe you're just not social enough.
As a young man, he was dedicated to soaking up all sorts of experiences. The thought of missing out on something someone else was doing was no less than devastating. As far as he was (and still is) concerned, life wasn't worth living unless you had a lot of emotional investment in it. Truly, he shows good character in not becoming bitter when he failed to Impress. Upset? Of course, but the moping didn't last a sevenday. What's the point? You can't turn back time. At least, he can't.
Instead of feeling fruitless for the rest of his life, or letting jealousy drag him down, Razaphon spent his time admiring and respecting those who did what he couldn't, as well as working on an interesting talent of his on. And, now, he's ready to share it with the world.
History: As the story goes, Razaphon was that kind of person growing up. You know, the one who does something on a dare for the experience of it. The guy you just know is going to be lucky to see 30 with the way he lives (62, represent!). There was nothing more in life he wanted than to become a rider. Being born without siblings, and two busy parents, Razaphon longed so dearly for a bond like that. He witnessed it himself many a time, but was never part of one beyond being a mere observer. When he hit 21 turns, he returned to his family and continued his craft.
Somewhere along the line, when all his work was done or his parents weren't looking to badger him to stop "wasting time", Razaphon began an interesting hobby. Taking the mold intended to be crafted into bowls and plates, he sculpted instead miniature versions of the dragons he looked upon with such adoration. They weren't very good. Not at first. But over time, as he learned better ways to shape the creatures, perfected his anatomy and learned how to more carefully execute firing and glazing of the pieces without breaking them, they became true works of art.
Turn after turn past and he kept the hobby quiet. Not because it was meant to be secretive, but because he never thought of exposing them to the public. Who would care for such silly things? One day, after absently placing one by a window, he found out. A weaver specializing in dyeing, hoping one day to be a candidate themselves, came knocking, questioning him about the tiny dragon. Shortly after, it was suggested he color his creations. The weaver taught him all they knew that could perhaps help him.
Learning the method to color the sculptures proved almost as difficult as learning to make them, but he slowly developed the most effective ways, all the while maintaining his "real" job, which he still does today. However, Razaphon is now known for his works of art, ranging from all colors, sizes and poses, each with detailed markings, features and eyes so vivid you might swear they're alive. The dragons sell rather decently these days. Sometimes, he'll take commissions from. Most people know as a rule of thumb his affinity for greens runs so deep he'll do those for free.
Gotta love the underdogs, right?
