As the cicadas hummed their drowsy chorus, a small bobtailed cat made her way into a familiar park. In her endless wandering, Demi somehow had managed to find herself back in the Kokitsu Plaza area. Feeling instantly more energetic as she slipped into the shadows of the canopy and felt the cool breezes tickle her whiskers, the American Bobtail kit began poking about.

She recalled the Color-point guy she had met not too long ago in this park, and thought maybe she could find him again; what was his name now..? Phenex! That was it! First she walked along all the paths in the area that she discovered him last time, then she began checking the bushes and trees; where the heck was he?

The golden bell hanging from her ribbon-collar jingled lightly as she slumped against a tree trunk with an exhausted sigh. Resting her head on a hand propped up by one knee, Demi glared into the foliage of the park ahead of her; it looked like Phenex wasn't around today. Well, that was great... Now she had to find something else to occupy her afternoon. She could continue to explore this territory a bit more, but suddenly she didn't feel like wandering about on her own anymore. The young cat's cheeks puffed slightly as she pouted to herself and debated her sudden onset of loneliness. Fishing an oddly large silver bell from her pocket, Demi rolled it around in front of her, gently batting it between her hands in the grass before her. What to do; what to do...

Mir was running through her agility training that morning. She often did parkour, which helped her to think on her feet as well as maintain her speed and endurance. Leaping from tree to tree, she dove out onto a grassy area, landing in a tight roll before springing up and starting her practice routine. Comprised mostly of jabs and light footwork, Mir danced about the grass before stopping momentarily and pulling out her knife. She flipped it open and began again, working through some feints she she had learned from Aidan.

Golden eyes had fallen half lidded as lethargy began to set in again. Even if she was in the shade, sitting still on a hot day simply made one sleepy. Placing one paw over the bell she had been playing with, the other flew to her mouth in a vain attempt to stifle a sudden, wide yawn. As soon as the soothing jingle in front of her stopped and her ears cleared again at the completion of her yawn, the bobtail was suddenly aware of a new sound. nearby, she could hear very slight noises, as if air were being suddenly forced about. Scooping up her bell, Demi got to her feet and dropped it back into her pocket, tilting and swiveling her ears as she did so. With eyes wide open now, she tentatively stalked towards the sound; she'd never heard anything quite like it and wasn't really sure what to expect.

Her ears led her to an open area of the park, and there she saw an older girl dancing and darting about. Something gleamed brightly in one of her hands as she jabbed and slashed the air with it. She was very swift and light on her paws, and also very graceful and poised. With one paw resting on one of the trees lining the clearing, the bobtail kit held the other in front of her mouth. Aside from the awkward, clumsy moves of her siblings that she only half-way remembered, Demi had yet to see a real fight. It was the first time she had ever seen a warrior's dance.

"Amazing.." She mewed in awe, eyes sparkling with admiration for the other girl. An excited flutter started up in her chest as a sudden rush of adrenaline coursed through her body simply from watching the high-energy training.

Mir sliced though the air with the knife, finishing a combination with a half stab, then a quick punch to where the lower abdomen of an opponent would be and then a slash across the body with the knife, finishing the move. She bounced lightly on her feet and flipped close the knife, stowing it down her shirt. At first, she hadn't been comfortable with keeping the knife in that particular place, and had only put it there for lack of proper pockets. Now, however, she felt safe with it there, its familiar weight a comfortable presence that was as much a part of her as her own hand or foot. Mir stretched out her muscles, working though her cool down, calming the adrenalin flowing though her.
Straitening up, she exhaled and looked around. Over by the line of trees she saw a bobtail kit watching her. She smiled to herself and waved over at the kitten. "Hello there!"

Dusty brown ears lifted in surprise as she was spotted, and Demi took a step back and towards the tree as the older cat approached. After watching such a splendid dance, the bobtail suddenly felt really small and self conscious.

"Hey," She mewed shortly, looking up at the other with her ears still trembling excitedly, "That was really awesome; that thing you were just doing." Although she could recognize them as battle moves, Demi wasn't sure if calling it 'fighting' was quite right either; there was no opponent after all. "How did you learn to move so quickly? I mean... I'm a pretty fast runner, I guess, but I can't move my arms like that!" If she had had one, the kitten's tail would have been whipping the air like mad as she eagerly voiced her admiration. The bell on her collar gave another jingle as she bounced forward suddenly.

"Do you think you could show me that again? It really was wonderful to watch!" The drowsiness from before had completely vanished now as her eyes sparkled enthusiastically and she perked her ears attentively towards the other cat.

Mir grinned a little self-consciously. Morph never took much interest in her training, so she had never had anyone complement her like that before. "'Practice' would be the easy answer, but that wouldn't satisfy my curiosity." Mir liked the willing attention, and she felt compelled to give a more in depth answer. "I'd say at the bottom of it all, you need to be comfortable with your body, and aware of what your strengths and limitations are. Once you know that, you can trust yourself to act." She grinned at the kits enthusiasm and pulled out her knife again. "Was there something in particular you wanted to see, or was that just a general request?"

Demi smiled brightly and nodded her head at the older cat's explanation; it made sense after all. When she pulled out the knife again, the kits eyes were instantly fixated on it. That had been the glimmering thing from earlier, an intimidating knife. Anything in specific that she may have wanted to see suddenly fled her mind, so she simply nodded eagerly to the other female. "I'll gladly watch anything you'll show me!" She chirped; Demi was very interested to observe these fight moves a little more closely. She was vaguely aware of her own poor skill in the department. Wandering could take a little break for self improvement.

Mir smiled again, watching the kittens eyes fixated on her knife. "Here's a little something just for fun." Mir flipped the knife open and closed, flipping it in circles, spinning it deftly around her fingers, the knife clicking as it opened and closed repeatedly. Finishing she snapped it closed and held it by the end of the hilts, almost like a lady with a closed fan. Mir winked at the kit and tapped her lips thoughtfully with the knife. Honestly, she was a little self conscious about simply going through her routine in front of her, but she couldn't think of what to do. She decided to start with a simple kata. She stepped back and centered herself, breathing deeply. Then she flicked the knife open and began with a sweep up with the knife. She quickly sank into her usual rhythm, knife singing through the air as she flowed from one movement to the next.

(Those knife tricks are freaking awesome! surprised )

Demi's ears twitched at the clicking of the knife as it flipped and spun around in the older girl's hand. "Woooow," She mewed breathlessly, her mouth hanging open a bit as the girl then went into a more serious training routine, "Amazing; you look so dangerous!"

The muscles in her arms and legs twitched as she watched the Singapura move. Demi imagined herself moving through the routine right along this other cat. As the thought hit her, the bobtail runt looked at the claws on her hands a moment before trying to imitate the swipes and jabs of the other cat. The knife did look dangerous, and Demi wasn't sure she'd want to try fighting with something that could cause serious damage to herself, should she slip up, but her own claws seemed to be a good substitute. Even so, compared to the smooth, focused movements of the Singapura, Demi's were uncoordinated and choppy. As she realized this, deep golden eyes glanced over to the more experienced female and she lowered her ears sheepishly, a slight blush rising to her cheeks.

"U-hm... it's really cool, even if I can't seem to do it right!" She giggled, straightening again, "Oh yea! I'm Demi by the way! What's your name, lady?"

Moving through her kata, Mir felt the other imitating her next to her. She smiled to herself and thought, Yeah... I would too…Mir smiled down at the other cat. "It would be unreasonable to expect you to do it right the first time. It's alright." Mir nodded in acknowledgment of the others name, giggling slightly herself at being called 'lady'. "My name is Mirelle, but you can call me Mir if you want." Mir grinned at the other cat thoughtfully. "So I take it you're curious about fighting, right?" Mir looked the other cat up and down, sizing her up.

Demi's ears flopped back and she grinned happily at the other, "Okay, 'Mir' it is then!" She tilted her head at the way the Singapura was studying her and unconsciously stood up a little straighter, "I'm really interested, yea! I wanna be able to fight that well one day!" Inside, the little Bobtail was ecstatic, the way this older cat seemed to be taking an interest in her; did this mean she would show her how to do some of that stuff? Her short tail began flicking back and forth eagerly. As an after thought, she put a finger to her chin, "What was that thing you did before you got started though? When you stopped and breathed for a moment; was that the secret? Is that why I wasn't able to do it as well?" Somehow, 'practice-makes-perfect' didn't seem to register in the energetic little furball's head.

Mir laughed at Demi's enthusiasm. "Not quite. I was centering myself, gathering up my focus and energy. It's certainly not the 'secret' to it all, but it is a very important part." Mir considered the little cat again. "I think that's where we should start." Mir stowed the knife down her shirt and moved out toward the center of the grass, beckoning to Demi. "Now if I'm going to teach you, you're going to listen, take it slow, and be smart about it. That's the important thing: think. Got it?" Reaching the middle of the field, she turned to face Demi. Mir felt a little unsure how exactly to teach Demi, but felt that starting and building from the basics would be the best, and safest, route.

Demi nodded rapidly and bounced after Mir into the center of the clearing. Thinking wasn't too hard, right? "You got it, Mir-sensei!" She chirped eagerly, nonchalantly adding the new title to her acquaintance's name, "I'll do whatever you tell me! The first lesson is centering myself, right?" Truthfully, Demi wondered if she could calm her suddenly enthusiastic self down long enough to properly center herself, but damn if she wouldn't try. Her ears perked up in attention and she held her arms at her sides as she awaited her instructions.

Mir smirked at her new title and nodded. "You got it." She breathed deeply once, exhaling slowly. "Breathing is easy. We do it every day without even thinking. It's essential to life. You breath to think, to act, to live. Now, in centering yourself, I want you to imagine you're breathing in calm, and breathing out tensions and distractions. Flowing in and out, letting everything be still inside of you." She breathed in again, releasing it in a steady haaaaaaaa...
"As air flows to every part of your body, let your energy flow and fill your body too. For me when I started, it helped to visualize that. Imagine your body filled with different colors, and when you breath in, imagine your body filling a little with a calmer color, say blue. And when you breath out, release the colors that are agitated, and angry. And breath in and out until you feel, that calm all throughout."

Demi tilted her head a little and thought about all of that as she observed Mir put it into practice. Breath in calm and out distractions? That was like breathing a new self into her body, could she do it? Spreading her feet a little bit, the bobtail kit closed her eyes and began by trying to visualize the color of her body as it was right now; a bright yellow-orangey perhaps? She could see it swirling about her body rapidly and so she tried inhaling. In the air went, and in came a rush of cooling green. Demi imagined the green swirling and mixing with the yellow-orange of her own body's energy, and as she exhaled slowly, that brightly colored energy left in place of the green.

Repeating this a few times, Demi suddenly realized that she could feel her heart rate had slowed and she was beginning to feel more calm. A good amount of green was swirling lazily around inside of her, she imagined. "Hey, it's working!" She mewed, even her voice was quieter and more contained, "...Cool!" Opening her eyes again, she smiled at the older cat, "That means I'm doing it correctly, right Mir-sensei? This feels great!"
