User Image The reflection that looked up at her from the river was one of confusion. Since the birth and growth of her children, Koauu had found it hard to concentrate on things. She loved them, yes, they were very important to her. And the fact that Tahanin had chosen to live close enough to visit nearly every day made things a bit nicer. Still, it had all been so sudden. She didn't feel old enough to be a mother. At the time, she hadn't been ready at all.

A feather fell to the water as she rustled her wings, stretching them out, then bringing them to a rest at her sides again. She couldn't believe that her children were grown and away from her already. It felt even more surreal now, as if it certainly couldn't have happened. But it had, even before her sister who seemed more than ready. She wanted to talk to her family now, her father especially.

Dipping a paw into the water, she let out a soft breath.

And this is where I come into play. The shadows have hid my bohemith frame for long enough. My pelt itched for the sun's rays, they yearned for them like a baby calf to its mothers tit. Muscles flexed under my crimson canvas of fur that lay across my entire being, and I set forth. I have been watching your movements little girly, you seem alone, and deep in pondering. It is only natural for this beast to strike so early on in the game.

My pads tread lightly on the grassy field, barely making an audible sound for others to hear. I held my wings out from my sides to dampen any noise that might spook such a gorgeous little beauty. Her paw touched the water as I reached her backside, I simply purred in delight on what I came upon.

Good day.

My voice deep and thundering, yet it played lightly towards the females ears.

More sensitive than her mind, her instincts had ears swiveling back a bit as her stalker stood only a small distance away. However, Koauu didn't fully react at all until he spoke. Muscles tensed, her form going ridged for a moment as she tried to recover from the surprise of being snuck up on. Slowly she turned, taking in the slight of the large male. Her own wings began to sneak away from her form once more, tips touching lightly at her legs in some sort of self-protective manner.

"Yes, hello." Despite her physical actions, her voice did sound more sure. The presence of another had shooed her personal thoughts to the back of her mind. A gentle smile stretched her maw. She was certain that this was nothing more than a friendly greeting from a passerby. That was the way she was--and, fortunately or unfortunately, that was the only sort of hello she had experienced so far.

Observing him thoughtfully, she spoke again. "Are you out to enjoy the sunshine?" That's what she had been doing before her sullen reflection in the river had swayed her thoughts.

Oh you are a pretty little thing from the front as well. I pressed my wings to my sides and felt their warmth from the sun beaming down on my darkened fur, It was a bit toasty being of a darker hue, but I loved it. It reminded me of the hellhole from which I crawled out of. My lilac eyes traveled over her movements, taking in her body language, I fed off of it. I'm not going to hurt you, No- I wait till your dreams for that. A smug look attached itself to my face as I took in her words.

Apparently she hasn't met me before, and with that I snickered, just a bit though. Enough to tickle my innards before I said anything.

It is a darling day out, but I was just passing through and seeing if you needed any company.

I paused- and a corner of my mouth drew upwards to show my quirky grin, Muscles flexed and I stepped past her, to the waters edge to look at my beastly self. Oh yes, I am good looking. I turned my head back to the female that I now stood beside.

You shouldn't be out here alone and so vulnerable, bad things could happen.

I smiled, and quietly waited for her response.

Perhaps it was merely her trusting nature, but she found herself already lost in the conversation enough to miss the nuances of his personality. The shifts in expression, the laughter, it all struck her as not so strange and she continued to smile, canting her head ever so slightly as he spoke. She thought to thank him for taking the time to join her; it was rather thoughtful. However, before she could do so, the grin that lifted his lips caused her to consider him a bit.

When he moved, she took a step back from the water--only a little one--feeling conversation would be easier if she wasn't inches away from falling right in.

"Oh, well thank you for your concern." She had answered a bit quickly, having not expected such a statement at all. She was at a momentary loss for words. It was true she hadn't been watching her surroundings, but she hadn't felt threatened or scared.

"I've never gotten into any trouble around here." Was what she finally decided on, looking a bit sheepish. "I guess I just didn't think about it."

My haunches reclined as I rested my weight upon the earth. My tali curled up around my paws like a little blanket, warming up my feet when the sun had failed. My head dipped as she spoke, I was listening, don't get me wrong there sugar. I am just a kitty who loves a nice chat. I held my wings close to my sides, the talons clicking together as I exhaled.

You never can be too careful.

I paused, glancing back at her.

I'm sorry I'm being rude, My Name in Incubi. You can call me Incu. May I have the pleasure of knowing yours?

She supposed he was right, even if she couldn't quite believe. Having not experienced much unfortunate excitement in life, it was hard to imagine something bad happening while she was merely staring down at the water. Either way, she still smiled, blue eyes shifting to watch the movement of his tail for a short while.

"It's good to meet you," she said, bowing her head. And it was. He had certainly gotten her mind off of things she hadn't wanted to think about. "Mm, I'm Koauu." She paused. "Well, you can call me what you'd like, I guess." She let out a little laugh before glancing back down to the river.

"Pardon me," she then cut in before bending down to the water, her tongue darting out to daintily lap.

Its nice to know not everyone feels threatened by my towering presence, I chuckled to myself because I know who I am and I know what I have become. My tail flicked once and then rested itself again, Apparently it happens when I go into thought. I Looked away from Koauu as she drank, its not nice to stare.

Ahh, Koauu, what a pretty name.

I stopped, twin pillars atop my head swiveled backwards to pick up the slight snap of a twig. What is this?

Having soothed the slight tickle of her throat, she began to pull away, catching his compliment. "Thank you," she got out, though it was rather quiet, perhaps a bit embarrassed. She had never thought her name was so great. Well, maybe she had never really thought about it at all.

Coming to full height again, she meant to speak more, but noted that something did feel different. She had missed the snap he had heard. In her obliviousness, she let her head slowly dip to the side once more. It had seemed to her that he had quieted rather suddenly.

"Is something wrong?" she asked, unsure if the question was even warranted.

I turned back my focus on her, I grinned slyly and flicked my tail. My wings spread as I stretched them, uncoiling my haunches so I could stand once more. I shrugged off the noise, it could just be a rabbit. just a mere morsel- nothing to go after.

Its nothing, Probably just a rabbit making some noise.

But I heard it again, A bit louder than a twig. Must be something bigger. My ears flicked back again and this time I turned to see where it came from.

Eyes drifted from his face to his wings as he began to stand. He did have a rather impressive wingspan, she thought, although it wasn't surprising, considering his size. Shaking her head ever so slightly, she returned her gaze to his face as he spoke.

"A rabbit?" she muttered, the words coming out slowly as if they were more of a mimic than a question. She assumed then that he had heard something she hadn't. She nodded in agreement, ready to drop it until something caused her ears to perk.

This time she had caught the sound, as well. She blinked in the contemplative silence between them, eventually turning her head, but only with his lead. "A rabbit?" The same words left her mouth, but this time it really was a question.

I was still preoccupied with where that noise came from to watch her mouth those words. My claws retracted themselves from the earth as I stared into the brushes from once I came. They were good at hiding anything, Jungles are good for that. I paused and looked at Koauu.

Would you like to go find out?

Damn curiosity- one day you will kill me.

The novel idea of adventure always did have an air of irresistibility to it, even for one such as her. Leaving home, discovering new places, wandering for miles--these were things Koauu simply didn't do on a regular basis. However, she found curiosity contagious. Had he really thought the noise a rabbit at first? Did that mean it was coming closer? What sort of savory or unsavory character would they happen across in the trees? She shook her head, to herself rather than him, and let out a small half-laugh.

"Uhm, well, why not?" she looked up to him, her head still slightly canted. If one who was speaking so aptly on safety before was willing to venture in and figure it out, she figured there was little danger in it.

Oh score- I get a pretty little lady to help to aid me in my own curiosity. I win. A small chuckle ran out my smug little face, Pupils slitted in my own excitement that coursed through my system. I leaned forward to Koauu, snapping my jaws shut before her. That sound sent chills up my spine. Pure love.

Good.

I pivoted upon my rear haunches and somewhat dove into the shrubs.
Whaa? Nothing? The talons on my wings clicked together as I folded them against my sides.

Let's find this sucker.

I turned to see if she still wished to follow me.

The female's neck muscles worked to pull her head back at bit at the snap. It was a strangely impressive sound, to say the least, although she wasn't sure what to think beyond that. Having calmed in the other's presence, Koauu was a bit ruffled by the sudden--some might consider threatening--action. Regardless, she only glanced away momentarily before the fur about her shoulders and neck settled flat again. As for what to say about it, she was glad he had begun to move into the bushes before she could decide to comment.

Moving to follow, she stopped far enough back to let him investigate the entrance uncrowded. She only craned her neck to glance around his form and into a small hole in the leaves. Not that there was much to see from that angle.

"Nothing?" she questioned as he turned back to her. "I wonder how far we'll have to go." Her musings were quiet and not overly emphasized. At this point in time, she had very few reservations about how far to go.
