Hoo, hoo! Hoo, hoo!

An owl called, it's hoot soon drowned out by a small whimper, emanating from a brown form, huddling against a tree. It looked like a Putnar, with its sharp, gleaming eyes and pointed claws, but the daisy it clutched made it seem like anything but.

Aiden whined once more, pivoting his ears about widly before he could muster the courage to raise his nose a fraction and sniff at the air, to make sure the owl was really gone before he shook the debris from his fur and crawled away from the safety the shadow of the tree had provided. He tucked his daisy into his mane protectively, as if the limp, decaying flower were of something of importance, before trotting deeper into the trees, his senses on high alert.

The moon was out, and it illuminated the forest well enough for his eyes to see clearly. The sound of crickets and other such insects could be heard. Man hadn't been here, he could tell that much, but still he held himself low and padded onward with cautious steps. It was possible, very possible, that he was on pack lands. He was out searching for a pack, after all.

User Image The small, skinny wolf had been hiding within his den, his wide glowing eyes staring out into the night. He couldn't sleep, and it showed on his face. He looked as though he hadn't slept in days, and as if he hadn't eaten during those days either.

Ventash'ma looked around, his stump of a tail curled under. If he had a tail it would be between his legs. He was terrified of the night, the darkness surrounded him like hands closing around a throat. He shut his eyes tight, then took a few deep breaths to calm himself down.

When he opened his eyes again, the darkness wasn't quite so imposing. He sighed heavily, and his heart was still thumping hard against his chest. Ash sniffed the air, he had caught the scent of something on the wind, and it momentarily distracted him from his night terrors.

With reluctance, Ash stepped from his den and into the night, but only half way. He scanned the area, trying to pinpoint the location of the scent. He could tell that it was a male, but not much more than that.

Aiden froze, catching the scent of another Varg. His fur stood on end, his tail curled between his legs, and the scent of fear came off of him in waves. Too surprised at the sudden encounter to do or think much, Aiden immedietly lowered himself and crawled forward, assuming the male was the Dragga of a pack he believed to live around the area. He was in the middle of rolling himself onto his back when he realized the other was a Kerl, like himself.

Ears folded back with embarassment, he picked himself up and prodded his daisy nervously. He looked up at the male uncertainly, stepping back a few. It wasn't uncommon for others to make fun of him when his cowardice was discovered.

Ash was slightly surprised by the lighter pelted wolf's reaction, since he had been about to do the same. He bent his head low and folded down his ears, telling the other kerl that he was no threat.

Ash sat down, half in and half out of his den. "Hello..." He said softly, his voice deep but full of fear. He could smell the other kerl's fear as well though, whih oddly made him less afraid. At least it wasn't a hostile wolf. Ash had been yearning for company, but now that he was interacting with another, he really didn't know what to do.

Aiden, surprised and wary of the other's response bristled his fur, trying to look fearsome, although all it really did was make him look like a cotton ball. He had never scented fear on a wolf other than himself when no apparent danger was about, and this confused him.

"Hello." he replied back, his voice quiet from lack of use. He quirked an ear foward, as if questioning, before looking around nervously. It didn't seem as if anyone else was close by so he sniffed the other's nose tentatively in greeting, ears flat.

Ash bent his head low, his own fur rising as well, but mostly bristling in fear. His legs were shaking slightly, this was the first wolf he had met since he had lost his family. He had been out looking for his sister, but he hadn't found her.

When the other sniffed his nose, he sniffed back, lightly touching it with his own cold, damp one. "I'm Ventash'ma..." He murmured, when the greeting was over. He pulled back and sat on his haunches, looking as though he would like to melt into the earth. "But everyone calls me Ash. Who're you?" He asked softly, still uneasy and unsure of this wolf. He seemed nice enough, but Ash didn't trust anyone. Especially his own feelings.

"Nice to meet you, Ventash'ma." Aiden said, feeling just a bit more confident when he noticed the other male was just as frightened as him. He tried to unbristle his fur as he spoke once more. "My name is Aiden."

Even with the unexpected meeting, Aiden was not deterred from his goal. He wondered if the male, Ash, knew of a pack around the area. He disliked living alone and longed for a pack, or at least a companion, even though he knew he'd only be a mere Sikla. He was too fearful of the world he was born in to be anything more, he believed.

He decided he would ask the other male if any packs were close, but not at the moment. He didn't want to offend the other by implying that searching for a pack was much more enjoyable than talking to a Kerl. He knew how it felt when others left him as quickly as they could, because they feared his loneliness, and the memories weren't pleasant.

Ash tried on a soft smile, and his stump of a tail wagged slightly. It was basically invisible, and he knew that it would hurt him if he ever joined a pack, since a lot of emotion was displayed through the position of that appendage.

"It's... nice to meet you, Aiden." He said with a slight nod, unsure what else to say. He wasn't really looking for a pack, although he knew he would be better off in one. "Are you... part of a pack?" He asked softly, though he knew that there weren't any too close to him. He had lived in the same den for a long while now. "Although I didn't think there were any packs around here..."

Aiden sighed sadly at the question. "No... not anymore, at least." he said. He shrugged as if it were nothing, but his paws shook and he pretended to be busy rearranging his daisy so he had an exuse to look away.

"Oh?" he said, surprised, when Ventash'ma mentioned the lack of packs around the area. He fidgeted, wondering if the male had that powers of the Sight, that apparently allowed the Varg to look into the minds of others, and scratched the earth under his paw nervously.

"S-so," Aiden started quickly, trying to distract himself from the chilling thoughts. "Do you live here?" He paused, realizing that the question was stupid, as the den reeked of Ventash'ma's scent. "I-I mean, how long have you lived here?"
