Xinavane wandered through the pride, keeping her eye out for trouble. Usually, everything was order, especially with her on the watch, but you never knew when something would crop up. Demons and trouble-makers worked in mysterious ways. There was plenty to do anyway, though less now that there were more adults and teenagers in the pride who could pick up some of the slack. But there were new children now too... and they had to be watched.
And there was one... Moto's boy. The little pink one. She had been training some of the Mlisha who would help watch them. It reminded her of when her own children had been young... it seemed like so long ago now. Teenagers, well on their way to finding their place.
"Hum..." She tilted her head thoughtfully, wondering if she should speak with him. He was so very young...

Wandering about in a small circle, Risasi was trying his earnest to entertain himself. With his mother out doing important things, he had no one to cling to, to cheer up with his silly antics. It was a nice break, though, from the constant movement that exhausted him so.
He was pouncing, on invisible demons, trying to bring up his courage and be okay to touch them. In his mind, the invisible demons couldn't pass on their evil to him, so he was fine touching them and pretend-fighting. During the heat of his 'battle', he failed to notice the pair of eyes set upon him.

Xinavane watched him for a moment before stepping forward, "Hello there." She said, her voice quiet though sure when she spoke to him. She was quieter when she spoke to children than she was with adults. Because she loved children, of course, and she could scare them if she was too... well, herself. The cold powerful woman who made everyone jump to do what she said. Except Moto, she supposed. But even her tough son listened to her when he didn't listen to most people.
"You're... Risasi, right?" She asked, tilting her head down towards him, smiling a little as he fought invisivle demons. Good boy. "Moto's son? I'm Xinavane, the Ardhi. I've seen you... you were smaller though."

Risasi stopped his play, forzen as he landed on his 'opponent.' His faced seemed scrunched as he looked up at the lioness, trying to figure out if she was good or bad. Judging by her nice voice, she wasn't a demon.
Upon confirming this, Risa's face lit up with happiness, excited to meet someone new. "Mhm!" he shook his head up and down quickly, like he did with his mother. "Are you mamma's friend?" if she had seen him when he was smaller, he supposed, she must know momma, she must!

Xinavane smiled a little and laughed, "Yes. Your mother and I are good friends actually. She's the one who told me I could join the pride and help protect little cubs like you from big bad demons." She grinned, "Your mother is... one of my best friends." She counted on Moto, after all. She was the pride's heart and soul, while Xinavane as the Ardhi was the ground she walked upon.
"I'm glad to see you're so brave. Your mother will be very proud of you dear." She told him kindly, "You look like a good little boy too." She told him happily. He had a good-natured feeling about him. That was nice. The pride needed lions with big hearts, as much as they needed steeled ones for killing demons.

"I'm not brave..." Risasi's eyes dropped to the ground, thinking of his phobia of touching demons. "I can't fight demons at all...." he sucked his lips in, bringing forth his reasoning, so he didn't sound so cowardly. "But, but! I just....don't want to become evil, is all." his eyes tried to persuade the lioness.
"So you know mamma really well!" this truth thrilled the little cub; every mention of his mother made him happy, as long as it was in a good light. "I'm gonna make momma proud, I just know it." his tongue was out, giving him a determined look as he looked up at the lioness. "Miss Xinavane, you're gonna help me be someone momma can be proud of, ritght?" what he wanted most was to grow up and make his mother happy and proud to have such a bright pink son.

Xinavane tilted her head, "You seemed awfully brave to me. And you're a little young for fighting demons, you can do that when you're older. My children haven't fought demons yet, and they're teenagers." She tilted her head the other way, stepping forward, "And I don't think you'll turn evil Risasi. You're far too kind for that, just like your mother." She promised him.
And she nodded to him, happy that he was fond of his mother. She was as well. Moto was a strong female, even when she could have broken down and been weak. "I do. And I believe you will make your mother very proud of you, just like your big brothers and sisters did. But I'll tell you what, to be strong and help fight demons, you don't actually have to fight them. Sometimes you can help here, and support the troops while they're away. That's what I do."

His mouth forming an 'o' shape in awe, Risa moved closer to the lioness, his excitement and curiosity growing. He was relieved that he wouldn't have to fight demons, especially at this age, as he knew he wouldn't be able to.
"You really don't have to? I can stay here?" his paws started to bounce up and down, burning the rank she had given him earlier in his memory. "An Ar-dhi." he shook his head with each syllable, struggling only slightly, as a cub would. "I wanna do that!" he felt proud of his new decision, and strutted around a bit. "Then mamma will be my best friend, too." he closed his eyes, imagining being his mother's best friend, and how happy that'd make him. "What is it?" in all his excitement, he failed to realize just what exactly an Ardhi was.

Xinavane smiled, sitting down and watching him, "It is my duty to make sure that the pride is organized well. That we always have enough to eat, that the children are watched and the boarders are guarded. While your mother helps us attack the demons, I keep us well-fed and defended. Or at least, I play my part. The Ardhi must be the solid ground on which our pride walks. We don't all have to fight on the front lines to help."
She looked down and grinned, "So I'll tell you what, as you get older, I'll help you train towards being someone like me. Someone who doesn't fight demons directly, but stands back and helps the people who do. Having someone at your back to make sure everything you love is just as important as fighting against everything you hate."

Plopping himself down in front of the lioness, Risa listened carefully. He was never one to take information for granted, even if it was given by a cub younger than he. He smiled at the mention of cubs and food, not realizing someone paid so much attention to such things.
"You promise?" his mouth was open and his eyes wide with excitement. "I want to help like that..." it was a new dream now, bubbling up from within the small cub.

"I promise. Cross my heart," the lioness said, drawing her paw over her heart, "and hope to die. I'll show you how to fight without actually fighting, I promise you Risasi." She told him, leaning down and mussing up the fur on his head, "You are a cute little thing, you know that? I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job. I'll be pleased to train you."
And she would. Anyone who got excited about helping the pride was a friend to her. And she loved the little boy to pieces already. She would help him, no matter what.

"Good." he nodded his head, now satisfied and looking forward to the day he could start training. He was going to make his momma proud, after all. "C-cute?" Risasi felt his face heat up; no one had said he was cute before. If anything, he had been taunted because of his coloring.
"You're c-cute too." he stuttered at first, then mustered up a smile. To the small cub, the word cute meant the same thing, no matter who you said it to.

Xinavane laughed a little. It had been a long while since anyone had called her cute. Not since... Zuru... a long time ago. Back when she had been a teenager. Before the demon-hunters and everything that had come with them. But it made her smile. Reminded her of good friends and good times. "Why thank you Risasi. I'm glad you think so." She told him, bowing her head to him.
"Now... how about we play a game, little prince? I'm sure I can be much more fun than invisivle demons." She offered kindly, holding her paw out to him.

"Prince?" he tilted his head to the side, confused by the title. Was mamma a queen? That would explain the way others acted with her, but the small cub seemed to be oblivious to such matters.
"A game?" Risasi was excited that she wanted to play with him. Playing the lone warrior by himself wasn't as fun as it looked. "What kind of game?" he swished his tail back and forth behind him, wanting to know if she knew a game he didn't.
