NOTE: Yes, I know I made a Umineko thread earlier, but this focuses on the anime.
The Umineko No naku koro ni anime premiered recently.
I know that there are fans of Higurashi (Such as Aine and myself) who have been waiting for this for quite some time.
I'll give my insights of the first episode later, but first,
DISCUSS:
What did you think of the first episode?

I feel this thread should've been made...uh...last Wednesday or Thursday.
So anyway. I like the opening, but at the same time I hate it because it's not the kind of things I'd like to sing. I don't like the ending.
I was expecting much better from the anime, though. I don't like Beatrice's or Battler's eyes, and I HATE Maria's "Uu." But then again, it doesn't help that I've hated Maria since I read the manga.
And it isn't as pretty as the manga.
SO, I was looking for the first episode for about eight hours, then saw the opening about four hours into my search, then the raws after Belle sent them to me.
Then the subs next morning. biggrin
And as for the first episode...I would've wanted to see Beatrice, but I know she shouldn't come out till...later. xD

Just finished watching.
1. Maria is ******** irritating. I almost tweeted in ******** HELL THAT NOISE IS IRRITATING. Shut up Maria. SHUT UP. D: Uuu~ Uuu~"
2. The ending song is ugh. Boring as hell, the singer is dry, and it sounds like something death note.
3. I like the rest of the series. Rosa beating Maria made me happy. :>

I thought the ending song was hilarious because it was sung by Kinzo.
Can you see Kinzo singing in a rock band?
... see how lol that is? n-n
Also Maria can get annoying, but I found Hanyuu kind of annoying too, so...

Agreed with Luna in that the manga has prettier art. Much prettier art.
But frankly, I couldn't be bothered to give a ********. I couldn't finish a single anime series since Code Geass R2 ended... and now, it seems like I've found that one series that'll be able to revive my interest in anime again.
Fuuuuuck yeeeeaaaaahhhhh.
Pretty much got no qualms with any aspect of the anime itself. Yay!

I'm gonna say now that I think Jessica will go all yandere, but only because Kanon (Her love interest) is voiced by the same person who voiced Satoshi-kun. sweatdrop *Taser'd*
Anyways, my 2 cents (Or perhaps it is 2 yen...?) on the first episode.
I thought it was rather well, seing that I didn't play the novel and only read a few bits of the Manga, I didn't know what to expect (Ok, what I read of the manga up to this point was people arguing about Maria's borrowed umbrella, but that's beside the point.)
I kinda liked how the protrayed Battler as a pervert, but if what the subs said what an exact translation (I'd like to squeeze your t**s!), then he lacks some tack.
I like how they they introduced each of the characters, showing just what they are like living life in good ole Rokkenjima.
To be quite honest, I was prepared for Maria's "Uuu". Besides, I know of three Yui Horie role in which she had a catchphrase (Uuu, Auauauauau, and Ugu.) It didn't annoy me as much as some people, but I guess I was more prepared.
Maria's mama ttly deserves mother of the year. rolleyes
And I thought it ended with a nice cliffhanger, but.....
It wasn't as big as the cliffhanger at the end of Episode 2!
But I'll give my insights on that another time.... ninja

Alright, Vlad actually PM'd me about this thread, so it means I should post. XD
I watched it the other day, during my Higurashi/Umineko binge. It was actually pretty good, although I haven't been paying too much attention to Umineko stuff lately, sadly.
The opening and ending themes are alright and watchable, though I personally prefer the opening over the ending.
When Rosa beat up Maria, I was all "This woman has issues. O_____O".

I want to buy Ep.1-4 but I'm a few dollars short, and I'd have to install the English patch. D;
I think the voice acting for Rosa is excellent, and Shannon's voice is the most adorable thing EVAR. Maria is OK, but I already hated her when I read the manga, way before the anime, so... sweatdrop
Rosa Ushiromiya, best mom EVAR. /sarcasm
I think the way they managed George's proposal to Shannon was really good for such a short scene, and really sweet. And that almost made me cry at the end of the second episode when they found Shannon's corpse. But I didn't because I already knew what would happen. :D
I also grew to like the opening, but not the opening animation. :/ I still feel it lacks a lot of somethings.
K, so I spoil lots of things. xD

|3 /currently installing Episode 4 of Umineko
And I'm slowly liking the Anime less for how much it skips details. I understand they're trying to cram a lot in fast, but it feels like it just skims the plot that the manga gives. We'll see when I play the novels.
@Luna I rather like the Opening all together. The ending not so much. D:
(The Novel Episode 5 Opening is holyshit catchy. <3)

Playing the game, I find myself madly clicking to speed through dry parts. And even then, it still takes forever. I officially don't have the patience to play the novels.
