Dain was uncomfortable, to say the very least, with his surroundings. It wasn't so much the people (of course, as usual, he had them completely tuned out) nor was it the flashy and gimmicky fashion the entire place seemed to have. No, it was the piercing chill that seemed to penetrate, right to his very core, surrounding this entire place. Every time the light of a neon advertisement fell on him, it shot right through his soul, causing him to visibly tremble.
Vaguely, Dain wondered what turn he had taken that bought him here, and why...
He tried to walk quickly, keeping his eyes narrowed as far closed as they would allow without completely cutting off his vision. Shoving past groups of schoolgirls and brightly-dressed preteens, Dain grew more and more uncomfortable by the minute. How the hell did you get out of this place, anyway?

Several shopping bags in hand, Rhiannon made her way expertly through the crowd in Takeshita. Life was good... she'd managed to find what she'd been looking for, and more besides.
A small smile flitted around her lips as she laughed quietly to herself - she'd also managed to charge all of her purchases to her brother's credit card. Well, he got what he deserved, calling her like that in the middle of the night simply because he'd been worried.
Shrugging off the small pang of guilt that followed the thought - it wasn't like he couldn't afford it, anyway - Rhia pushed faster through the crowd. It was time to head home and get started on that assignment that was due tomorrow... --
"What the heck?"
She staggered, and almost tripped backwards, when she ran straight what felt like a warm, solid wall. Looking up, she found herself staring into slitted brown eyes.
"Geez, look where you're going, punk. What are you, lost?"

Dain gave off little more then a frustrated grunt, taking a little step back and stopping short, barely moved by the impact at all. He looked over the girl once, before huffing and looking away. "Christ, are all the kids around here so god damn crazy...?" He muttered, more to himself then anything.
There's that chill again...is it the people, or just the place? God I wish I bought a jacket...
He folded his arms tight in front of himself, and spared the girl a second glance. "It's none of your business if I'm lost or not, girlie."

An eyebrow arched at the other's rude response.
"Well, it wasn't my business, but you managed to make it mine the minute you got in my way."
Rhia frowned as something in the boy's phrasing caught at her. Perhaps he really was lost... she could understand how the bright lights and never-ending rows of shops could be confusing to the non-experienced shopper, and this boy standing in front of her looked like he'd much rather be sucking on a lemon than stuck here for another minute. I've always been a little too impulsive...
She tilted her head to study the other more closely. With his arms folded tight, he looked truly uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry. Are you really lost?"

Dain spluttered a little at (what he considered) a rather rude accusation. Lost?? He turned his full attention on the girl, glaring darkly. "I took a wrong turn somewhere back there, and now I can't see past all the girls to find my way back."
In other words, he was lost. He just was too stubborn and in too much of a bad mood to admit it.

It was Rhiannon's turn to cross her arms as she glared at the boy, bottle-green eyes sparking with mild annoyance. So much for feeling guilty...
"So you're lost, but just not willing to admit it. Fine. Do you want help or not?"
She figured it wouldn't be too much out of her way to help him out, as she was headed towards the train station herself. Plus... he didn't look fully Japanese, like her. It would be nice to be able to talk to someone that wasn't from around here again...

Dain made a few stunned, disgruntled noises before giving a pathetic and defeated nod. "I...I'm kinda lost. Do you know this area pretty well?"
He crosses his arms tighter in front of himself, in a feeble attempt to ward off the cold. It was a cold that started at the very center of him, though, and his jacket and huddled stance did little to rid himself of it.

"You could say that, yeah. I shop here a lot." Rhia couldn't resist the last bit, and she flashed the other an impish grin before turning and heading down the street. "Come on, follow me, since I'm leaving anyway. Hopefully you're trying to get to the station too?"
The last was more of a statement than a question, since Rhia really wasn't about to head in any direction other than the one she needed to go.
Glancing back, she noticed that the boy was still hugging himself. She paused in the middle of the street and turned to fully face him again. "Something wrong with you? You cold?" Rhia eyed him up and down, noting the lack of jacket. A twinkle of mischief lit up her eyes as she poked him in the shoulder. "Wanna go buy a jacket or something?"

Dain gave a quiet grunt of annoyance. So this one couldn't feel it either? Well, there's nothing surprising about that, he thought to himself dully, seeming to be a little disappointed. He followed after her, eyes still narrowed, arms still folded tight.
"No," He said, "Not cold. Just...ah, it's...hard to explain." He sniffed a little. His nose always got runny when he was cold. "The station is fine." It might have been equally as crowded, and just as chilling, but he would be glad to be in a place that let him travel quickly in whichever direction he desired.

Curiosity piqued, Rhiannon tilted her head. "What, then? It looks like you're cold to me." She'd noticed the slight flash of disappointment and was confused by it. Was it because she'd guessed wrong?
"Alright. The station it is. Since it's about ten minutes walk, I guess you're stuck with me. My name's Rhiannon. Where are you trying to go, anyway?" Having had her last chance to shop turned down, she resumed walking once again.

Dain quickly jogged over to follow glumly alongside, keeping his eyes on the ground as he walked. "It's nothing, really," He told her grumpily, finally uncrossing his arms. He felt a little better with something to take his mind off the darkness that had started to claw at the edges of his vision.
"I'm Dain. I'm trying to get anywhere but here."

"Nothing? Well, if you want it that way, fine." Rhiannon mentally shrugged as she wondered why something as basic as being cold was a topic to be avoided... but hey, if that's what he wanted, it was fine by her. She noticed that he'd finally uncrossed his arms, and the thought crossed her mind fleetingly that he looked much more approachable that way.
She was intrigued by the other's comment and stayed silent for a few moments as she turned sharply to the left, down a new side street. As an artist, she was frequently inspired by words and phrases in conversation, and the idea of getting 'anywhere but here' sparked an image in her head. Her eyes unfocused slightly as she tried to build it up in her head so that it wouldn't be forgotten and she almost stumbled before she caught herself.
Sheepishly, she winced, hoping that Dain hadn't noticed. Looking over, she tried to understand the statement a little more. "Anywhere but here? Do you really mean it literally? Takeshita's not so bad... Unless you mean Tokyo in general?"

Dain ignored her odd movements after his statement, and kept his eyes straight ahead, easily keeping up. He was glad to have the subject of why he appeared cold dropped; as he himself wasn't certain about it, and it made him uncomfortable to not know.
"I mean I don't care where I am. As long as it's not somewhere so...crowded, and bright."

Rhiannon loved the bright lights of the city, it gave her an energy knowing that there was always activity going on. The other's response gave her a little pause, and she idly wondered if this boy just a little bit crazy. Glancing over, she didn't think so, but... "Whats wrong with bright lights? I love seeing them at night, reflecting off the sky."
The little side street that they'd turned into was filled with cafes and dessert shops - probably set up for the weary shopper who wanted a bite to eat. A little hungry, Rhia found herself slowing down to peer into the glass of several of the cake shops. Without looking over, she asked, "Hey, Dain, would you mind if I stopped here for a second? I'm starving!"

Dain didn't quite feel like telling her why he didn't like bright lights. That was...something he felt he'd save for later, and if he ever met her again at that. Which, he gratefully doubted that he would.
"Oh, sure," He muttered, turning to stand beside her and wait. Just looking at the cakes made his stomach rear up and growl loudly at him, so it was a win-win situation. He gets cake, she gets cake, no harm done. Dain shoved his hand deep into his pocket, digging around for any loose change he might have.
