Alright so Lets see what to say? Well I am NOT professional by any means, but I would love to be! My favorite thing to photograph is people!

I love taking someone, dressing them up and taking artistic shots! I have an attraction to black and white and I love love love to play with lighting!
Next would be scenery and wild life. I love taking pics of all that too! Unfortunately a lot of my stuff needs to be located and or scanned in to show you guys but as soon as I do that I will post more up! For now I can only post what I can have.

So since my preference is people I shall post the pics i took of my sister. She is my little model for everything! I love photographing her because I think shes super beautiful even though shes ( currently 12 ). I'd say these pictures I tool of her were taken when she was about 9 or 10. I worry...shes going to grow up to be a little heart breaker sweatdrop Anyways heres what I got.

Category: Portrait

[X] So as I mentioned I love to mess with lighting. One of my favorite sources is indeed natural light BUT by means of a sheer drapery (white). These sets of photo's were taken by such a setting. The lighting produced by it gives it a soft glow that I find is just gorgeous!

[X] This photo you can clearly see the odd glow that the sheer white drapery can produced. It seems to make things look whimsical.

[X] So the theme of this picture was an artistic one and more mature. An elegant kind of photo.

[X] This picture was taken with her back to the light source giving her a glow to the background and a much more darker edgier look to the face area. I like this picture a lot too.

By the window, no drapery ( white wood blinds )set -

[X] The pictures in this set I think are my most favorite of my sister. She looks like a little angel. Taken by the kitchen window, this lighten captured her expression in her eyes so well!

[X] Dining room setting this lighting did what I wanted it to which was contrast upon her face. Light on one side and darker on the other.

[X] Another Dining room lighting photo. Different outfit, and make up this time. The feeling of this photo was to be 'Fun'. Her pose and the colors of bright pink and yet grown up! ( she always wants to look so damn grown up! its scary! ) The way the light hits her face I think is simply beautiful.

[X] This was taken Christmas of 08! Notice the cork is still in the bottle! lol I just thought this would be a cheeky picture to take she was goofin around so I snapped the photo. Its a very very large bottle and held up on that angle in her small hands...too funny. My sister is I believe 11 in this picture. The only thing I dont like about this picture is that because it was a spur of the moment picture and was taken as such its a touch blurry. I freakin hate blurry pics!

Animals & Wild Life

[X] This is just one of those pictures you take and it comes out so damn funny. This pic is of my boyfriends cat.

[X] I just like the angel and so I took the opportunity to take the photo. This is my cat.

[X] Look at that face....that beautiful frown! lol This is Logan my now deceased fishy sad

[X] Actually to get the lighting in this fish bowl was very very hard and took many tries. I'd say in the end worth it. This picture reminds me of Jaws! Looking upwards towards the surface seeing the sun and shape of a shark! lol

[X] SHARK! lols

[X] But his colors were beautiful!, he was beautiful -nods-

** Okies so thats all I got for now. The rest I gotta dig up and or scan, so when I can I shall post more **

Your compositions in the portraits are crooked and seem very spontaneous. That is not something you want for a portrait.

Portraits must be very deliberate and planned.

Your lighting washes out a lot of color, giving your photos very little contrast.

You should work on your compositions. Look at what constitutes a good portrait.

The same goes for your animal photos.
It's more difficult to photograph animals, since they move a lot and are usually not trained to stay still.
This is why timing is important.

Fish are more difficult to photograph, especially in a room lit with low temperature bulbs.
Try opening the window and getting the bowl/tank in te sunlight for better lighting.

some of your back lit portraits look like you meant for them to be kind of silhouetted, but turned out wrong. maybe have them facing the light and take a profile shot, that might look a little better. trying to use natural light inside is tricky some times because sometimes you can get it so the light is on their face even tho their side or back is to the window/glass door, but sometimes it just doesn't look good.

I think you focused on the guys foot on the first cat shot...

what i really lied was the silhouetted betta fish! I think it was the one you were talking about sharks...? anyway, I thought those were cool. My fish would never pose for me like that lol heart blaugh heart

Sorry what photo's are crooked? o.O
Yes, I stated the photo's are meant to look soft with the bright "washout" lighting and that I played with contrast ( and love to do so )
and my portraits were deliberately planned and were not spontaneous...how can someone tell if a photo is spontaneous???

which pictures and whats "wrong"? If I took a picture with them facing the light, they'd be even more washed out.

Yea the fishy ones were suppose to be Silhouetted, he was a little pervert fish! lol if I were to be getting dressed hed be right there staring O_O
too funny. If you took your finger and slowly brought it up to the bowl his face would puff up all defensive like...wish I could have gotten a picture of that.

Actually the first tries of taking pics of him didn't turn out because the bowl kept having huge glare and reflection and I couldnt even see him in the bowl...but after some fiddling around i eventually got it.

I think when using the window for light, you might try getting a big white or maybe tinfoil sheet to reflect into the darkness that is her face then you won't have to brighten the shot and lose your detail.

Try to be sure, when deciding your location for a portrait, that the background is clean and it isn't going to draw the eye away from your subject.

You should work on exposing for the face, many of your shots look really underexposed and like you had to boost their brightness a lot.

I'm not a fan of her makeup as the lipstick is too dark for her.

Try to keep in mind that just because you love your pets, blurry photos of them are still blurry photos. Try taking the cats out in the yard, among nature and interesting lighting. Catch them napping all sunspeckled under a bush or something wink

I'm sorry for nitpicking. You seem quite young and I think you have promise so keep at it!

Just a note: when shooting through glass, either shut off your flash or get the lens very close to the glass so you won't capture the flash reflection.

Thanks for the tips. I like her make up. The camera I used was nothing special at all. I am not pro I am totally amature and still need practice.

I um...am not "Quite young". I am not really too sure what made you think that. However if you meant young as if in newer to photography then yes, you would be quite right.

Yes, I did shoot the fish with no flash on. I am Amature not a total ding bat. lol. I did not do any digital editing what-so-ever to any of these photo's. Its just raw photo's with raw lighting. Different angles to catch different shadows and lighting on her face. Nothing more. nothing less.

the 4th one in your first category. You need to be really careful with lighting on people so that unflattering shadows don't appear. you could use a reflector to fix that problem easily, and you can still keep a nice shadow on her face, it would just be a touch less um...dark. other than the shadows, tho, its a really nice picture ^_^

(I have the exact opposite problem, To much light, in some of my photos)

It would have been so cool if you could have just blurred the bottle in the last picture that you have! Blurry pictures are the worst, especially wen you only notice when you upload them to your computer after any chance of taking a new picture are gone! evil
