She closed her eyes for a moment, tilting her head to the soft breeze winding its way through the mountains that made up her home. She was an Ushujaa, and as such is was her duty to be aware of everything; to stay at her strongest and her best while protecting her pride. Her home.
Things were changing though. The wheel had been set in motion and now even the breeze, gentle and warm as it had been as of late, felt different. Lines were being drawn... Stand on one side. Stand on the other. It mattered, yes, but not enough to keep her from her duty... Not at the moment, at least.

He wasn't usually a happy soul but the whispering of the wind lately did even less to make his disposition sunny. He did not like how things seemed to be going at all but for the moment he kept his temper in check and continued on with what he needed to do.
He had things to do, strength to keep up, and for the moment burs to pick out of his fur. God damned things living up here he thought to himself as he used his teeth to pull the burrs out of his tail.
Of course he would be the one o step in them before figuring out they were there

Opening her eyes she continued along the path that she'd set out on. She walked the same path every morning, finding that it always lead her in the right direction one way or another; giving her a chance at solitude to explore her own thoughts while setting her right for the start of the day. What she hadn't expected was to cross paths with someone... Or, more specifically, to find someone sitting in her path.
"Good morning, Mpasuko."

He lifted his head when he heard a voice and looked over at the female. Spitting out the burrs he'd just pulled from his tail he ndded slightly.
"Good morning Kibuluu" He hadn't expected to see another of the Ushujaa out this way but he also hadn't really paid attention to where everyone else went much.

Her brow lofted slightly for a moment before she found herself smirking as she moved to continue along her way, or at least a step or two closer to him. "I'd ask what has a burr in your backside this morning, but... The question would be a bit redundant, wouldn't it? Is nature choosing today to pick on you?"

His eyes narrowed slightly as he thought about the damned plant. "It woudl be...." Looking at her a moment he leaned down to drag his teeth through his fur again to get another bunch of the burrs off him. "Usually they are dead this time of year."

"The next question to ask, I suppose, would be exactly what were you doing? Rolling in the damn things?" Her smirk broadened just a bit as she leaned over, picking another one of the pesky things off of his shoulder before spitting it out. "If I continue on down the path am I going to find whoever you were rolling with?" There was amusement in her voice more than anything else at the moment, knowing well enough that Mpasuko was probably the last one who'd get caught rolling around with someone.

He snorted at the idea of rolling around in anything as he spit out the burrs he'd pulled from his fur. "You'll find the damnable brier plant." He half snarled as he thought about the stupid thing. "It was covered in snow. I was expecting to step into a deep snow bank, not some cursed plant."
He just wanted the things out of his fur so it stopped pulling every time he tried to take a step

"I walk this path every morning and I've yet to come across it myself." Her smirk softened slightly and for a moment she felt almost sympathetic, leaning in to help pick off a few of the harder to reach clingers. "Plants tend to thrive when it's warmer, you know, lingering snow or not... The only thing that's been cold lately is the night. Mm, then again, I'm sure it's been more than that. There's distance too, but that's a different kind of cold." Her head turned away from the male to spit out what she'd gathered, letting her gaze linger on the distance.

"It's there." And it would now be easy to see since he'd thrashed a bit at it to get his tail unstuck. Part of him wished he could have covered it back up and let someone else deal with the brambles too. Someone who'd pissed him off lately preferably.
"The distance is cold?" The only distance he knew was cold was the peaks of the mountains.

"Yes, it is." She nodded slowly as she let her gaze drift back towards him. "Of course, I wouldn't expect you to be able to feel it. It's there, though, and it makes me wonder when the fight is coming." It was. Everyone who had been there, and everyone who had heard knew that it was. It was just a matter of time...

"What does that have to do with distance?" He had heard, and he knew what was coming, but it was all pointless to him. They were trying to argue things that should not be argued. "I'm not as stupid and clueless as everyone says i am you know"

"Who said I meant distance as in distance traveled?" Her eyes narrowed slightly as she glared at him before shaking her head, turning to head back the way she'd come instead. "Nevermind." She muttered, more to herself than to him. It was foolish, really, to bother another with her thoughts, let alone to expect this particular lion to understand what she meant. "Maybe you'll notice it more when it becomes clearer."

"I've already noticed." He glared at her retreating form. Everyone thought he was too busy being stupid and angry to bother noticing anything but he wasn't that stupid. He'd noticed what was going on. He just didn't see the point in metaphors. Others should just say what they meant.

"Then why do you have to question what I'm saying like I'm an idiot for saying it?" She growled, eyes narrowing as she cast a glare back over her shoulder in his direction. "And don't you dare give me that 'say what you mean' bullshit that you always do. I did say what I meant."
