PLOT: A gentle zephyr blows through the forest of Grimshaw. The trees make soft rustling noises and emit a light sprucy scent under the cool blue sky, this morning.
But, all was not as it seemed, today. Something was different; something was off. Despite the beautiful weather and this idyllic scene, one could feel an ominous feeling if one was perceptive.
Over yonder, near the northern forest boarder, a young human child giggled. She popped up and down as she placed the brightly colored mushrooms into to her twig woven basket. A mature call was heard and the young one skipped out of the area as quickly as she arrived. "Coming!!" She yelled.

Yufka flicked an ear irritably as her young companion Mahlab butted her in the side. "Yuffie!" the child's impatient voice sounded. "Wake up!" Yawning and stretching, the red-backed Adahy groaned at her charge. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" The little girl just loved early mornings. Yufka couldn't understand why, seeing as she knew instinctively that mornings were for sleeping in, but it made Mahlab happy, and really, that was an awfully important thing. Groaning, she got to her feet. "All right, all right. What is it, Little One?" "Can we go to the beach today? Please? I wanna go swimming!" The younger Palomino Adahy wriggled with anticipation. Shifting her weight from side to side, she eagerly awaited her caretaker's response. Yufka pretended to think for a moment. In truth, she enjoyed swimming quite a bit, and today would probably be a good day for such an activity. They could spend the whole day there, then camp there for the night. She nodded her head as the younger one squealed in delight. "Sounds fine. We should leave for the lake now, and we'll come back tomorrow." The lake was to the north and to the west of their territory in the far south of Adahy lands; it would take some time to get there. "We'll eat breakfast on the way." And so the two set off for Lake Ha'looa, expecting nothing but a good swim and a tasty breakfast on the path. ***Note from Pan: Lake Ha'looa is to the south xD Lake Ha'tooka is more northern/certral..maybe they could swim in the river? It travels pretty far North

Moss sauntered along a worn path, his feathers ruffling in the gently breeze as he idly hummed to himself. He wasn't sure on where he was, or where he was going. But he liked it that way, unpredictable. It made life more exciting if you don't know what is to come next, and so he would spend every day just as random.
Within time he came across a couple of berry bushes that were unfamiliar to him. Sitting on his hind haunches he looked at the berries as he tried to figure out if they were edible of not. He itched behind one of his ears before he set himself into a defensive stance. Waggling his rump playfully he then ran around the bushes.

An imaginary super cool looking hatchling was nestled into a prickly bush. She flattened her body in an attempt to remain unseen. The branches of the short shrub, however, were not very dense, and you could even see her peeking out. If you came up behind the Adahy, you would see her entire rump and back legs, poking our from under the thin leaves. A small bug nearby made a "whirring" nose. "SHHHH!" Tender Toes shouted. The insect promptly stopped rubbing its wing or feet or whatever, and bumbled away. How rude. Tender Toes made a serious face and whipped her head back to the front of the bush. Through the large opening, she could see another Adhay. She slowly licked her lips and lifted her hind legs underneath her. Her chest and elbows remained low to the ground. Just then, the sound of two approaching Adahy reached her ears. "AMBUSH!" She thought. Tender Toes leapt out of her pouncing position and slide landed next to Moss. "I am Tender Toes!" She roared. "Who goes there!"

Basalt rumbled something incoherent in the back of his throat as he meandered through the woods, amber eyes sweeping his path ahead of him with a slightly anxious nature. He could have sworn he had heard something... unnatural, and the strange scent he had just caught whiff of confirmed that. He stopped, claws digging uneasily into the soil.
What was in the forest?
To his left he heard the sound of paws thumping on the leaf-covered floor. Swinging his head in that direction, he ruffled his tail feathers and padded quietly towards what- or whoever could be rampaging about. They didn't sound that big and heavy, after all....

Mudpaw hid behind the tree watching the adult Adahy pick her way through the underbrush. The youngster was sure his friend, River Dance, was out on an adventure. River hadn't invited him to go along, but then she hadn't exactly told Mudpaw to stay home either. Mudpaw slipped from behind the tree and continued following the dark brown Adahy.

River Dance picked her way through the forest. She stopped often to sniff the air. Something seemed out of place today and she was determined to find out what it was. River Dance was an orderly gal. When something interrupted her routine, she couldn't rest until she'd resolved whatever it was that had unsettled her.

Tender Toes became aware of three more four legged creatures coming around the bend. (She felt vibrations through her tender toes) She made an "OH!" noise, and dropped back into the bushes to hide. Something egg-like pressed against her shoulder blade. It was an egg. She turned and made an "OH!" again at the lonely orange unhatched. "Shuuu", she whispered to it, then placed her head between her elbows, watching for feet appear under the branches. Soft mud caked itself on to her under belly and under her chin. Tender Toes nervously licked her lips again.

A bit startled by all the sudden commotion Moss fell back onto his hind haunches, looking around before he saw Tender Toes drop back into the bushes. He blinked as he regained his thoughts and sought out to follow her. With a curious grin he slowly crawled in, low to the ground as he playfully shouted out "Boo!"

Moss's boo did more then startle her, it downright scared the bajeebies out of her. She screamed and tried collect her bajeebies, then hide behind her egg friend. Of course that wasn't protection enough from the ferocious Moss, so Tender Toes poked her head out and hissed. "HRAAA!" Unfortunately for the little warrior, a gust of wind blew through the shrubbery, and caused a small twig to jab Tender Toes in the side. She yelped, so now her hiss sound more like a "HRAAAphip!" How embarrassing. She backed up to be hiding behind the egg and covered her eyes with her paws.

Moss couldn't help laughing a bit but managed to stop himself before going too far. Straightening himself out as he looked around the branched coverage before sitting down and asking with a playful tilt of his head, "Are you alright? I honestly didn't think I'd scare the bajeebies out of ya..." He leaned to the side, head still tilted as he peered around the orange egg.

Tender Toes made a stinky face at him. "Do you even have any bajeebies?" She pursed her lips and turned her head away from him with a emphatic "HRUMPH." If Tender Toes's mother was here, she would not be very pleased with her daughter's smart aleck behavior. Toes winced at the painful reminder of discipline, and turned back to Moss. "I'm sorry." She whispered. Then she stood and curtsied. "I'm Tender Toes." The Adahy announced proudly. "I'm here exploring, if you want" her voice trailed "you could commewith me..."
