Discuss this ancient history of a List(tm) and how it pertains to Blizzard trademarking Cataclysm.

The Great Sundering, also known as simply the Sundering or the Cataclysm, was a world event which reshaped Azeroth approximately 10,000 years ago at the end of the War of the Ancients. This event was triggered due to the Well of Eternity being destroyed.

Prior to the Sundering, there was only one continent on Azeroth, referred to as Kalimdor. In the catastrophic explosion, eighty percent of the land mass was destroyed, leaving behind the major continents and scattered islands that are known today: Northrend, Kezan, the Eastern Kingdoms, and the remnant still referred to as Kalimdor.

The site of the Well of Eternity became a swirling vortex of power known as the Maelstrom.

TL;DR:
Cataclysm = Maelstrom

Yeah, I remember that list.

Although I would say naming off locations in the Warcraft universe not currently in World of Warcraft and prophesizing them as possible expansions in the future is almost self-fulfilling.

Pick a large area, get the region names from the RPG books/wherever, add zone levels... Eh. The Maelstrom is something that a lot of people have been expecting/asking for since before the game was out, and another planet is also easily doable due to the extra portals on Draenor, or other means.

Even then, while close, the list didn't predict things spot on. (What is "The Deadlands" on Outland?)

All that said, I'm still bettin' they'll announce a new expansion at BlizzCon. Fingers crossed.

The Deadlands could be the Bone Wastes in Terokkar.

I've seen the original post that contained this list. It was made back in 2003 (if I remember right), which is before even the original wow was launched. Now keeping that in mind, look at the list of areas for Outland and Northrend. Pretty damn close, eh? We can only hope it stays that way going into the next xpac or two. If this list is right, WoW is only about halfway through.

Blizzard will make up new things--anything to get more cash flow. Remember, the Caverns of time can be abused far beyond our imaginations. For all we know they could have that whole mess with Rhonin and Korialstrasz in that horridly written book floating around as an expansion idea.

Interesting how they knew back in 2004 that Hellfire would be too crowded, so they'd need two entry level zones in WOTLK, isn't it?

And next xpac we need 3! And if you have good gear, FOUR!

Naw...
Next xpac every zone should have entry level areas to quest in, alongside capped level areas to quest in.

To example it... say there were level 70 quests in Icecrown but across the mountain there were quests for level 80s but it's still Icecrown. That way when the entry level people wander in and ask "blahblahblahblah where's the ******** quest meant to be blahblahblah" you can 'accidently' direct them to the higher level mobs and mabbe float by to watch 'em get creamed without taking yourself out of your way for your own quests.

And this isn't even on topic so I'll just go sit over here for awhile... ->

With phasing you could theoretically make every zone playable for every level. Maybe you'd make it through every zone and be only halfway through the levels and enter the next phase and it'd be for the last half. Bazing!

It still leaves open a lot of current dead space in the game.

The mountains south of Zul'Gurub, the empty spaces left and right of Burning Steppes, and the empty area in Stonetalon Mountains. (most likely these areas will be for connecting to islands in the 'Great Sea' expansion)

Not to mention other areas where there will be some sort of downloadable content, or will take a hell of a lot of time to implement, such as Uldum in Tanaris (me thinks?) and the potential Azshera BG.

Am I missing anything? It's best to 'fill in' all the gaps, y'know?

Yume wo mite Namida shite Kizutsuite mo . . .

Yes, all these! These inaccessible, "empty" spaces are things that I've wanted to see expanded on for such a long time. And I've always hoped they would let us see what's inside of Uldum.

What did I miss?
When was there anything about level 90-100, a "Plane Set" or "Legion Set"?
