You can't help but realize that, as you step into the entryway of the Crane Chamber, that all those that said Aekea had no class were horribly wrong. The elevator ride upwards had been an eye opener and a teaser for the event to come; a vampire couple with a cyborg and yourself. Conversation had been limited to complimenting the building and each other's outfits. This was the first night of the alliance, and many were still...there were no words to quite fit it.
Very few reservations were able to be made in the upper level of the giant crane, especially anything with a political standing considering the Town Hall nestled on the first floor. And yet somehow...
The spiral staircase in front of you is massive, each step at least four feet wide as it curls down to the floor. You can feel the soft grip of the carpet under your feet as you begin to head down. There is no doubt you are at least twenty feet in the air. It isn't until you do the first turn that you realize that there is a barrier of plexi glass at the edges of the stair well. It was obvious that it was there to make sure no one fell down to an untimely decommissioning.
It's hard to see the entire chamber until you reach the bottom, but when you do there is no doubt why this building was hand picked for such an event. The large metallic pillars that stood inside were carved with a Grecian look, and as the pillars move down the massive room, the Durem and Aekea flags alternate. There are at least ten pillars on each side of the room, separating the refreshments from the dancefloor in the center.
The dance floor is easy to spot; black and white marble intricately woven together in a spiral more or less thirty feet around. The music echoes softly in the chamber, the....elegant techno befitting the evening quite well.
To your left you can see the long tables of refreshments and food, Aekea signature's right next to chilled blood bags of all types, even ranging into the more exotic tastes. To the right, across the room from the food was the lounging area. Tapestries strung themselves along the walls and absorb the sound so conversations can be carried on in level tones. Long couches and elegant chairs nestled against each other, the colors ranging from black to white to red.
Most of the decorations you realize are black, but not in an overly tacky fashion. The two towns, Durem and Aekea, share that color on their flags, and the nice streaks of white and red throughout the Chamber made them compliment one another.
"Excuse me," a silken voice whispers behind you. Turning you see the vampiress and her pleasant smile as she gently touches her hand to your shoulder before walking around you. Just as she passes you, her head turns back slightly, cornsilk hair cascading down her back. "Don't just stand there dear. This is a night for the history books." ---
This is the avatar roleplaying thread for the Opening of the Guild. The roleplay is taking place in the Crane Chamber in the center of Aekea. Dress is formal but not strictly enforced.

Checking her watch, Hayley realized that it was about time for her to leave for the ball. She knew she'd be one of the first guests to arrive. Being a soldier meant you were always early to everything, even though she knew this was just a party. She grabbed her hat from the rack and gave herself a once over in the mirror. She adorned the cap, adjusted her coat and locked the doors to the station on the way out. The night air was beautiful, as it always was in Aekea (at least, if you're used to the omnipresent daytime smog). The crane wasn't a long walk, so she decided to take her time.
Arriving at the crane, she rode up to the ballroom. As the doors opened, she saw fantastically decorated room before her.
Damn, they really outdid themselves this time, she thought to herself. Not seeing any familiar faces, she went to the bar to ask for a glass of water. As she waited, she leaned against the par and surveyed the room with a slight unease. She knew full well these were her new friends, but she also knew she'd be one of the few full blown humans in the room tonight. She was used to the bots, but machines didn't thrive off of your innards.

Cathering a big shindig like this meant a lot of a food. And a lot of food means lots of pastries and baked goods. And thus put pressure on Frogger's bakery. The hardest part was finding the blood for the blood pastries. But somehow they managed. It also meant that Pieta came early to help Frogger make sure everything was in tip top shape.
After the events of unloading the goods and placing them perfectly on the red tablecloth, Pieta needed a good drink. She brushed off her long black dress, checking for any residue from the pastries. Then she went over to the bar and slide next to Hayley and ordered a Shirley Temple.

"Heh, big day for you, huh?"
Hayley noticed the exasperation with which Pie placed her order, and felt a mix of sympathy and admiration for the baking and decorating crew.
"The pastries look great, by the way. Remind me again which ones I should avoid due to the... well... 'filling'." She smiled. This was going to be nothing short of an interesting night.

"Yeah, I don't think I'll be able to look at a blood pastry for a month." Pie chuckled.
"Just eat off the "Human" section. Its on the table with Aekean flag tablecloth and the side with those little bacon wrapped sausages." Pie smiled. She guessed that this was the new guard captain from Barton.
Pie took a slip of the cherry beverage and asked, "I haven't seen you around before, I'm guessing by your spiffy outfit that your the new captain of the guard?"

"Heh, yeah that would be me. Between all the usual craziness around here and the overhaul we're doing at the station I'm afraid I haven't had a chance to meet many of the locals. The name's Hayley, by the way." She extended her hand to the chef. "You must work in that bakery all the police bots keep insisting that I visit. Bacon wrapped sausage? You're spoiling us." She grinned widely.

Pie nodded and her smile turned into a grin, "That's Aekea for you. Crazy." Pie extended her mechanical hand to Hayley's hand and shook it. "Pieta but, call me Pie. And yes that's Frogger's bakery for you, It's good to hear that the police bots like their nut and bolt doughnuts."

She shook Pie's hand warmly.
"You kidding me? It's all those good for nothing clanks ever talk about! Do you have any idea how long it's been since they've been upgraded? They're basically hardwired to eat donuts and give parking tickets. I really had my work cut out for me moving here."
She smiled and took a sip of water. It was nice to finally be mingling and socializing. She had moved to Aekea for the people, and she had recently found herself a stranger in a strange land - something she hoped eagerly to change.

Pie laughed and stirred her drink with her straw, "I guess it has been while since we've had a upgrade-the-bots fund. I'll have to ask PQ about that next time I see her."
Pie enjoyed Hayley's company, it was a nice change from bakery talk with Frogger. "So how long have you been in town?"

"Only the past week or two. I finally moved everything into HQ a couple of days ago. It's still a mess, but things are shaping up. Slowly, might I add, but steadily. I've been planning to hire some new recruits. You know anyone who might be interested? I tried talking to that bookstore fellow, but his loyalties to MAGIC are astounding. He didn't seem to notice or care that he could, in fact, be a part of both." She shook her head and laughed to herself. It's not like she never understood a loyalty so fierce it consumed you.

"Ah, I see. Moving is a hassle. I recently had to move into my friend's shop and shop sit. He's gone to France to visit with his parents. It's a complete mess, but don't tell him that." Pie let a few more chuckes, She wasn't the most organized person in the world. "Sounds like King." She paused and thoughtfully rubbed her chin, "I would place my bets on PQ or Keel for recruits. Maybe Ash, but he isn't that into an establishment. And I might be interested."

She grinned. It was good to know this town really was full of citizens after her own heart.
"I'll have to talk to them. PQ is the one hosting this shindig, right? Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet her. As for this Ash fellow, we could always use a good mercenary now and again. It's good money and a great job." Hayley always looked back on her mercenary days fondly. She was young, sure, but she'd been in the armed forces for what seemed like an eternity.
"As for you, miss, you think you've got what it takes to serve and protect?" She asked with a smile.

"Yes, PQ is pretty much the leader. She's willing to do anything for rights of the bots, cyborgs and androids. And I can see Ash as a mercenary, watch out with him he's a bit of an a**, but with a good heart and good looks to boot. She lighted nugded Hayley with her elbow.
Pie's smile went wide and winked, "I've got what you want. I'm loyal, been in Aekea my whole life. Know and love this place like the back on my hand. Take orders, what do you think I do in the bakery all day? And I have a few assets that a regular person won't have," She tapped her mechanical arm and right eye.

Frogger wheeled in her 'formal' flower pot. When she saw Pieta, she was going to ask her if she separated the blood pastries to show the ones were I.Vegan and the ones that were real blood. But she seemed to be in a nice conversation, so she went to the table herself and finished sorting everything out.

"Heh, an a**? I'm a soldier by trade. We're all asses in our own right. We'll either kill each other or get along just peachy." She took another sip of water. Things were sounding better and better.
"I could really use someone who knows the city. I've been exploring by night when I'm not working, but getting the lay of the land is a bit more than that. Help with that would be much appreciated and wouldn't go unnoticed."
