Woaaaaaah. Waking up to be surrounded by brightly colored flowers, after having been born into a place of brown and EARTH everywhere, was definitely a new experience for Yamir.... so was the odd segregation that he was going to definitely be spending a lot of time getting used to -- looked like he'd gotten himself into a special little group...but 'hanging out with the guys' (or guy, if he took the fact he'd only really had one friend into account) was something he could do best.

So letting the girls do their thing wasn't something he'd been too worried about. He just made sure to stay out of their way unless they needed him. Otherwise, he enjoyed looking at all the flora... and sometimes little cubs that were thrust into their daycare.

Yamir was never actually 'good' with children. Then again, the pride he'd come from in the first place had so few to start with, that he'd never gotten the chance to. But he'd learned quickly enough -- roughhouse with the boys, and if the girls start wailing about something, attend to their needs IMMEDIATELY unless you want to get in trouble. Yamir didn't like the idea of enraging a group of females who would likely freshen up the scars that were on his rump.

That would have been painful.

Very, very painful. But when he finally got time to be distracted by colors again, distracted he was -- today, it was a particularly orange-and-yellow flower that distracted him. Hmmmm, interesting looking one by all and any means.

She'd been to see the males a few times before, always just a quick, speculative glance before she was on her way again. Over time her visits grew longer, more frequent as she observed the gathered males. There were dark ones and bright ones, red ones and blues ones. There were ones that were big, and others that were small. But, it was easy for her to dismiss plenty of them. Nuksani knew what she wanted. She'd been pondering over it ever since she had returned home to the Kunanda'Nakhun.

Nuksani wanted to be the matron of her own clan, and not just that, she wanted her clan to be strong, to have plenty of lionesses to bolster the ranks. So far, she was sure it would only be herself and her sister, but if she had cubs... That was the vital piece to the puzzle, she needed a healthy litter of cubs, with bright girls aplenty. It was a lot to ask for, but she was certain that with a large amount of pickiness she could find the healthiest, smartest, and brightest male. Dark males weren't appealing to her, never would be.

Something red would be nice... something to compliment her own colors. There was plenty of males like that, but to her dismay they had a dominant presence of black, and recalling that her own mother was black made her anxious. She needed something really bright, a lion that just popped out to the eye...

The large lioness paused, dark eyes moving over the landscape to rest on a blue lion. There was a presence of white on him, but it was forgivable. It wasn't enough to deter her from investigating the male. With purpose, she strode over to him, steps assured, and her head held high. "Your name."

He would definitely still have to get used to the fact that he wasn't always going to get a 'hello' when greeted, forcing himself to hide a tightened frown at the request of the lioness - bright and yellow, almost like the flower he'd been staring at moment's before. He was smarter than to bring that thought up out loud, less he wanted to suffer a blow of open-mouth-insert-paw. At least he was pretty sure his paw would fit in his mouth.

But that wasn't the point. The point was he wouldn't compare her to the flower (sounded too much like flirting, it was definitely a not-go there), nor would he snort and tell her that it was proper manners for her to introduce herself first.

Frankly, he probably would have forgotten it (not out of being an a**, but he just didn't hold onto names with faces very well).

But it was with a simple sigh that he held his head lower than she held hers, a sort of 'subservant' action (he just wanted to avoid claws, really) before he answered her request (or demand, however she wanted to word it).

"Yamir."

She supposed that other lionesses would pick a male that had the strongest pull of desire, but Nuksani wasn't like that. There was too much to consider for her to just pick the male she felt like she wanted the most. Nuksani refused to make the same error lionesses before her had made. The queens had chosen strong males to conceive litters with, and because of that they had given birth to beautiful, bright females, and even some handsome parastars on top of that.

"Nuksani," she replied after a few moments, still pondering to herself over the white of his mane and tail. It made her increasingly anxious and apprehensive. There were other bright males, sure, but not as much to her taste. Bright blue was a safe color to go with, and the lion looked strong and well-brought up. He had manners, told her what she wanted to know and said nothing else. It was pleasant.

"How are you with cubs?" She didn't want to explain herself right now. She just wanted her questions answered, and in the end she would pick if he was suitable or not.

Well, he'd at least try to hold onto the name he was given while they conversed, at the very least, lifting his head just enough to offer some eye-contact.. but not enough to be confrontational -- staring too intently was definitely something that he'd suffer for if he had such conviction. However, the fur of her coat was distracting enough for him to keep his attention on her, instead of everywhere else in the area.

Ahhh, yes, that suited him well enough, he figured. Though he did have to ponder what it was about him that she was looking at -- was there something wrong perhaps? He couldn't really tell at this point, but he knew better than to ask. If she wanted to share, she would. If he was still curious later, he could speculate then.

"Cubs and I get along well enough."

Quote:
"Have you had any before?" She was sure there were no cubs of his running around in the Kunanda'Nakhun, but there was no harm in making sure. Nuksani didn't want the father of her cubs to have a lot already running around in the pride. Maybe she could contribute it to her own sense of pride. She simply would not have a male that was already used by females prior to her. Perhaps it was her own pickiness that had made this venture into finding a good male so difficult.

Oh well, she would find one, and when he was found, he was certain to be the best possible choice for her. "You do seem to have your wits about you..." she mused to hreself, her gaze still calculating and careful upon the blue lion. Her eyes were continously drawn to his mane, her lips forming a thin, disapproving line at the white. She'd have to get over it if she was to pick him to be the father of her cubs, the lion that would raise them into strong, sturdy individuals.

Now that was an odd question, but conversation, casual or not, was conversation and he would just keep along with the flow of the interrogation that seemed to be at hand in this case. Cubs? Certainly not. However, a thought was not an answer, so he corrected the mistake of idling too long in his mind with the confusion of the odd question.

"No." he answered simply, a lot of justifications of why popping into his mind, but he felt none of it was worth really sharing. She wanted to know if, not why he hadn't. If she wanted more information, he was sure she would ask -- she didn't seem to be having any problems with the 'asking' thus far.. and really, he had nothing to hide about himself. Simply that he was there, enjoyed bright colored, didn't like pain, and... well, he was an open book.

If she asked, he'd probably tell.

But he still couldn't get over what it was she was looking so intently at -- did he have something (besides markings?) on his face?

Quote:
He was meeting up with all of the qualifications she had set up beforehand, except that he had that dratted white on his mane. If there was anything that was more of a turn-off, it was that white. But, he was mostly bright, hadn't had cubs beforehand, looked strong and healthy, and seemed to have a sound mind (more than she did in the past). The only question she would never get a direct answer on was how intelligent he was. She'd have to observe him for a little while longer to determine that, though she was sure he was not entirely dim-witted, and that would be good enough for her.

"I am looking to have cubs," she explained with a slight tilt of her head. Reddened bangs fell in front of her dark, serious eyes. She had been so light-hearted as a child, but with age she had grown and changed. She had to change in order to better herself, in order to strive to do things with her life. This would just be the first step of many in achieving what she wanted.

"And if I see you fit, I'd like to have my cubs with you." If it was possible to fault her for being straight-forward, now would be the time.

If he'd been the kind to sputter awkwardly, he definitely would have done so about right then -- however, he was well enough off to know that getting flustered and thrown off guard would just make him look like an idiot -- which he was pretty sure he wasn't. Certainly he was aware of a lot of facts, but he did take well to information last he checked. However, he'd never actually been told such a .. shocking admission straight to his face.

Definitely a bit of a blindside there by all means.

But he composed himself quickly enough to give an answer (that didn't come with a cracked voice, thank god); "I understand." It certainly made him understand why she had been staring (he was very blue... very very blue...), as well he also understood that it would likely mean he would be looking after cubs - that was if she 'saw him fit'.

He knew better than to think that would absolutely be the case. There were still plenty of males she could look over and decide on (if she could find one without black or white on them in the color she wanted). It was just a possibility at this point.

There were almost too many concerns she held in mind when it came to Yamir. Even now she wasn't sure that his short replies were made because he was mindful of his position as parastar, or if he was just flat-out stupid. She was betting on the former, but it was still enough to make her anxious. She shifted her weight from one paw to the other, her gaze just as calculating as before, as if her mind wouldn't stop thinking and figuring through things.

She had seen many males, had interviewed some of them. In reality, she had already taken into consideration and dismissed a lot of males that she shouldn't start dismissing this one for the little errors in his pelt. Nuksani was sure that she would want to think on it for a little while longer, and she was definitely young enough that she could waste plenty of time on thinkng through every last inch of this. There was no reason to make haste and pop out cubs as soon as possible. Nuksani wanted them, but she could wait until she was certain of herself.

"All right then. Thank you for your time. I will see you tomorrow." Of course, Yamir wouldn't know whether it was to just seal the deal, or if she wanted to talk more. She'd keep that information to herself, just to keep him on his toes a little.

Quote:
"You're welcome. I will be sure I'm not hard to find." he bid in turn, actually giving her more than a one-sentance answer (two sentances, oh dear, he was so daring!) when she took her leave, before he looked back to the flower he had been looking over earlier.

Well, he wouldn't worry too much into what it was she did or didn't want from him anymore -- if anything, he still had time to find out when she returned. He had no need to jump right onto an expectation-horse. Besides, the longer she took deciding, the better her choice would be.

And if it did end up being him, he'd just have to hide a little ego from it. But that was all 'if' for now.

She gave him one last look, silently pleased that he could speak a little more than two words at a time. "Farewell," and with that said, she turned around and headed back her way to her current clan's dens. She had a lot of consideration to do when it came to Yamir. There would still be risks in choosing him to be the father of her cubs, and those she could not easily dismiss. Other lionesses would be more eager when it came to this, but she had to be patient, she had to think hard on everything before making her final decision.

It was highly possible that she would pick Yamir, and if she did, she would just have to hope that fortune was on her side, and that her cubs would be as strong and as beautiful as she could ever desire. It would be a horrible thing if she was let down.
