P'ree would rather pick all the diamonds off of Ista's beaches than be the candidate Cheoth's wrath was for. Who was dumb enough to touch an egg before the Touching? P'ree remembered sneaking peeks at the eggs when he was younger, but he never touched those sands until he was told.
Iawanth had demanded they leave the Weyr, he was deeply upset by the Queen's rage and emotions that he wanted to either go flying, or well anything. The pair walked at leisurely pace towards the feeding grounds, Iawanth did not think he could stand to take a bite, but P'ree insisted that the excitement to meet someone new might renew his appetite.
Iawanth did not have the heart to explain that meeting someone new was hardly exciting.

Having heard of Cheoth's anger, Anont had removed himself from as much interaction as he could- not that he'd ever had much, mind you, but what he could avoid, he did. So he'd gone off to sit and think for a while, careful not to run into anybody- especially any of the senior riders- to mull over the situation with the poor clutch.
Everybody snuck peeks at the eggs- or tried to, anyway. That wasn't terribly uncommon at all, he'd thought. He'd tried it once, but gotten scared and scrambled off (Really, who wanted a Queen angry with them?) And had occupied his time with more chores and his own thoughts. This hatching, however, he wasn't going anywhere NEAR the eggs until it was time. Even then, he was going to step cautiously and not do anything out of the norm.
A frown playing at his usually neutral features, Anont sighed to himself. The poor Dragonets- why would somebody RISK that sort of thing? Didn't everybody hope to find their perfect dragon in the hatching? If you had faith and patience, it was bound to happen- you just didn't go gallivanting off to bother the eggs when they hadn't even hardened!
Hopefully, they'd all be alright. Since there was nothing he could do but wait... well.
He'd try his best to stay out of the way, and leave everyone well alone.

P'reemine, who would endanger a clutch by touching them too soon? Iawanth must have really been bothered by this because he had not used the affectionate term for his rider since he was a weyrling.
"Stop right there," P'ree's voice wavered, he came around to the front of Iawanth, "I am sure...who ever has done this will be told off and everything will be set straight..I don't think anyone would ever try to hurt a dragon intentionally."
P'ree grasped Iawanth's big blue head in both hands and put his face to the dragon's nose. The two were both out of sorts by this, deeply disturbed, they did not even feel like going out and doing something stupid together.
Iawanthmine, you will be just fine, do you understand me?
The two would almost be a comical sight for anyone to see, face to face both with eyes closed. They were usually rowdy and obnoxious..well at least P'ree but he felt the feelings of anger and confusion burbling off of Iawanth and they were tugging at him.

Well, shards. Glancing up from his own thoughts, Anont was suddenly aware that he'd picked a particularly bad spot to go hide in- cursing himself silently, he decided to remain quiet and not get his head bitten off. Everyone was on edge, he was aware- the Dragons, especially. And, being the cautious candidate he was, Anont wasn't too keen to tempt fate- and a rider's wrath.
When the two were closer and were sharing an intimate moment, Anont was terribly aware how out of place he was- and how private of a thing he'd intruded. Swallowing heavily, he attempted to raise himself from his sitting place and move out without a sound. If he could just slip into the halls without being noticed, he could... go do more chores, or maybe go sun. Something more productive and isolated, definitely.
Or, rather. That was the plan until, in his over-exaggerated attempts at stealth, his right foot caught his left and he stumbled to the ground with a heavy THUNK. Lying entirely still for a moment, Anont remained defeated by the floor, silently cursing the mistimed bad luck. Of all the places, and times, in the world, it just HAD to be now that he made a dimglow of himself.
Propping himself up slightly, he desperately looked to the rider in apology.
"I, uh. S-sorry. I didn't mean to.." no, that wasn't right. "I was just trying to slip out, and. ..Not bother you. I, uh. ..Sorry."

Preemine it's jus- Iawanth tensed startled and turned toward the source of the noise and then the voice. His eyes swirling orange with anger and fear.
P'ree jumped as well started and had managed to let go before Iawanth swung around, the young man was going to find a large blue face thrust into his. Although Iawanth rarely spoke to another his anger at being startled and more so that this one seemed to be a candidate, when a foolish candidate was the cause for all of his tension (the one who'd touched the eggs).
What do you think you're doing, sneaking around, Iawanth's voice was loud, not like the way he'd address P'ree, I bet it was him who touched the egg. The last statement was spoken to both P'ree and Anont.
"I'm..sorry, you've really upset him," the look on P'ree's face was tense, but not because he was angry at the candidate..he was trying very hard not to laugh t how comical it was to see the fallen Candidate and Iawanth's voice. He patted the blue on the side affectionately, giving him a good what for? Iawanth did not respond to P'ree his gaze was locked on the young man.

He'd already felt horribly guilty when the two had discovered him thanks to his clumsiness- the addition of the dragon's anger at him hadn't done anything to make it better at all. Still barely propped into a respectable position, Anont faltered slightly in his attempts to seem semi-normal, pausing when a voice suddenly thudded into his mind.
Shocked out of his attempts to raise himself up, the candidate fell to the ground once more. Stumbling quickly, this time, to stand up and gain some shred of dignity back, all he could do was stare dumbly in return. On one hand, he was terribly horrified- both at the idea of an angry dragon (Angry at HIM, he might add), at the idea that he'd harm a dragon in his right mind- but also amazed that a dragon had talked to him. Better circumstances would've been favorable, yes, but for now... well, maybe not now. He'd reflect, later, on how amazing the sensation was. For now, he just needed to play it cool. Be smooth.
"I.. n-no! I wouldn't! I was worrying about them, and you guys walked in, a-and I felt really guilty about being here, so I tried to sneak out without bothering you, and I'm sorry for startling you, but I tripped, and I feel guilty about it, a-and I'm sorry! And if I can just say, your dragon h-has a really, really nice voice, and I've never heard a dragon before, and my name is Anont, by the way."
..Completely, entirely smooth.

The laugh caught in P'ree's throat and came out in one whooping howl, he doubled over hands on his knees to catch his breath. Iawanth was not one to talk to anyone else, particularly anyone without a dragon, P'ree was more intrigued by the outburst than upset.
Iawanth was not intrigued, he was still angry and soon became embarrassed at his outbursts, he did not feel like talking to the young man directly again, Mine tell him I am sorry..and..and..that I know he was not the foolish one.
Finally composing himself P'ree extended a hand to help Anont up, "I cannot say it's been a pleasure, but it is nice to meet you. I am P'ree and my angry blue friend her is Iawanth."
"He says that he is sorry for being so loud," P'ree paused, "I think he's a bit embarrassed at being startled. Have you ever listened to a dragon before?"

Anont couldn't help but at least smile a little at the laugh from the rider, feeling some of the tension in his shoulders alleviate; it's better than both rider AND dragon hating him, at any rate. At least there wouldn't be a rider handing him his own rear on a silver platter any time soon. That he could think of, anyway.
"I.. yeah," he amended quickly, not wanting to seem rude to the rider who's dragon he'd offended. When P'ree offered his hand out for assistance, Anont gladly took it, pulling himself up with more ease than he'd suspected. Standing fully, he took a moment to dust himself off, attempting to groom himself into a semblance of neat. Satisfied, Anont looked to P'ree and offered a sheepish smile.
"I-it's perfectly fine. I startled you guys, a- how everything's going... I'm in the wrong. It's alright." Waving a hand as if to dismiss the subject- and hopefully wave off his own embarrassment, or dispel the rising color in his cheeks.
"I... no, I haven't. 'm hoping to make it happen soon- third try at Impressing- but.. before now, not at all."

P'ree smiled and gave the young man an odd look, he was taller than the rider had expected. P'ree took a step back and scratched Iawanth's neck hoping to alleviate some tension in the poor guy.
"If Cheoth allows anyone near that clutch," P'ree scowled, "All the candidates will be lucky if they're allowed a Touching." P'ree thought again about being happy he'd impressed so long ago and was not about to go near the sands.
Tell him, I will be happy to see His on the sands one day, Iawanth rumbled audibly as he spoke to the rider. He was still a little on edge, but the young man didn't seem like a threat to him or Weyr.
"Anont, Iawanth says he hopes you impress, he looks forward to seeing 'yours' on the sand. Do not be so nervous, he's not angry any longer, you weren't in the wrong, we were not looking around for anyone, and serves us right getting all sentimental where someone might see."
"Dragons are as dragons are, perhaps you will see yours soon," or grow to old, he thought, "I was lucky and impressed my first time on the sands, I would not have survived as a candidate long." He chuckled.

"Yeah.." Anont added quietly, nodding slightly in agreement. "I just hope the dragonets are alright. Even if I don't Impress this round, they all deserve to find Theirs." A dreamy sort of smile took his face at this point, and he gave a moment to the thought of Impressing. Roused by his momentary daydream by P'ree speaking once more, a full blush took his face.
"O-oh." Well. He hadn't ever been complimented by a dragon before, and the prospect was enough to make him at least a little giddy. Laughing a bit in nervousness, Anont ran a hand through his hair in embarrassment. "W-well, thank you! I'm sure if I keep trying, and stay positive, I'll find Mine someday. And as long as all the dragons Impress well... I don't really have any complaints!"
He nodded more enthusiastically when P'ree spoke of his Impression, stilled awed by the entire prospect. More at ease with P'ree, now that Anont was -fairly- sure he wasn't going to be beaten up, he looked down to his feet.
"I-I'm trying my hardest at everything, still. It's just... hard, not to get a tiny bit discouraged, you know?"

P'ree smirk, Anont was alright, for someone without a dragon, P'ree had been spending a lot of time around the newly impressed or candidates. He was really off of his game lately it seemed, he'd need to do something to correct that.
"Don't be discouraged, sometimes the most unlikely people impress," He'd impressed he knew how much people thought he wouldn't, he'd been surprised himself.
"Do you know the person who's got Cheoth raging?" P'ree shook his head, "I'd hate to be that person, everyone seems to be in a twist."
Iawanth tilted his head at Anont, and lowered his head to watch the young man with one big eye. Mine, were you this awkward before you met me?

"Y-yeah?" He asked tentatively, finding himself able to look up once more. Worriedly, a part of his mind assumed P'ree meant, despite his oddness, he might have a shot at being picked. But then again, he tended to over-worry on this sort of thing. That sort of idea was best to put out of his mind- Certainly, he was over-thinking!
Snapped from his worries by the question of Cheoth's anger, Anont shook his head sadly as his smile once more fell. Quite honestly, it was times like these he'd wished he had more friends- not socializing a lot, there weren't too many people he went to for gossip. "I.. haven't a clue, sorry. I- in case you couldn't tell, I'm not very..." he gestured a moment at this, almost attempting to grasp the word out of the air.
"...Suave! That's the word." The second part was more to himself, barely loud enough to be heard- unphased, Anont moved on. "I've been... trying to keep out of the way, I guess. Not do any more harm than's already done. I mean, I- I think it makes sense."

P'ree chuckled, not all young men act like this one, Mine. I was just as I am now. Obnoxious? Iawanth offered causing P'ree to laugh harder.
"You will..well you're grow into being more suave, it takes years of practice to perfect," P'ree flexed the muscles in his arm jokingly. "I don't think there is anything wrong with not being social...I just am extremely social."
Iawanth was feeling more normal and alerted P'ree to his hunger and want to stretch his wings. I am going to feed, He walked a few paces away from the pair and took flight toward the wherry pens.
"You're lucky you know, Iawanth will not talk to anyone, even if it was out of anger," P'ree thought about the few people Iawanth had spoken to, the blue was fiercely loyal to his rider and Weyr and that would probably be the only reason he'd speak up to anyone. His anger at whomever touched the clutch probably provoked him speaking.

Obviously having missed an exchange between the two, Anont fell into a casual silence once more, waiting to be personally addressed. When P'ree's attentions returned once more to him, he brightened slightly.
"You think I will be?" He asked, unable to keep from laughing at the flex of muscles. Were it not terribly inappropriate given the circumstances, Anont would've commented on P'ree's looks- certainly, they gave aid in the charm he was talking about. Attempting to fight back a blush, Anont decided this was probably a very bad line of thought, and opted to move onto something else. Hopefully, P'ree woul-
Oh. Thank Faranth, he WAS moving the conversation on. Watching as Iawanth headed off to get food, Anont found himself very much appreciating the opportunity to hear a dragon- the grin was taking his features once more.
"It was... something else," he admitted, a certain childlike ease playing into his tone. If there was one thing Anont could talk about without worry, it was dragons. Turning back to P'ree, he shifted to address the rider more comfortably.
"I can see why it's so incredible, now. It's.. less of a dream, now, I think. If that makes any sense."

"Hearing them is one thing, wait until you're bonded," P'ree's eyes followed Iawanth as he flew, life was not the same since impressing the blue, and he could not imagine it any other way. Who else was he going to do stupid things with? Like aerial acrobatics that break wrist bones.
"I can feel him no matter where he is, like a place in my head, and I don't know, I can't recall what it was like without him," he did not say ' or what I'd do without him' it was impossible to think that he would ever be without Iawanth.
"Hopefully this clutch is safe and sound, and all those eggs impress," he was thinking of Iawanth's comment that the boy should impress, Iawanth was not all together great at picking out those who would or wouldn't impress.
