Other Tips
NOTE: THIS ADVICE WILL
NOT REPLACE THE ADVICE OF A MEDICAL SPECIALIST!!!!!
Living Conditions- Try and find a good sized single story home
- Have someone who is physically fit to help (a friend, family member, lover, etc) You may need more depending on your weight, and possibly have them live with you.
- Have a bed that is low to the floor (like a traditional Japanese bed)
- Have a walk-in shower/bathtub
- Get a large toilet fitted with cleaning jets to wash your bum.
Health and Hygiene- Be sure to wash under rolls to prevent accumulation of dirt, sweat, and dead skin cells. Left dirty, these particles can cause irritation and possible infections
- Change positions at least twice a day. This will prevent bed sores.
- Obesity can cause sleep apnea. Try and obtain an oxygen tank or an appliance that can help with breathing.
- Before immobility, do light exercise to keep your heart and many other body parts healthy. Light exercise includes walking, stretching, and light swimming.
