Er.. aside from FFX and X-2, and the FFVII compiliation, none of the other games really -have- an order besides the numbers. They all take place in completely different worlds.

well put. each game is its own, there is no need for order. the numbers, in my opinion are just to spare creativity with subtitles...besides, how stupid would this sound...
Final Fantasy: Tidus' Dream
Final Fantasy: SeeD and the Sorceress
Final Fantasy: Monkey Boy!

If they started putting subtitles for the games, I'm sure they'd come up with good ones. Otherwise.. better to just stick with the numbers. sweatdrop

If it were me, i'd definitely go with monkey boy xd
but meh, as of yet, order has had no place in the FF world... unless he means a category of time (like how advanced the world's appear to be)
in which case i'd definitely say (from what i've played):
(edited) 1 Tactics 3 (6) 9 7 8 10 (only because in the before story they were rather advanced, so it must be pretty far into the future)

i wouldn't even be able to agree with that, because FFVIII was BY FAR the most technologically advanced world.

I'd have to agree with that, there's no place in FFX where there ever seemed to be proof of space travel, much less a moon base. Nor were there any holigrams such as the walls surrounding Esthar's entire country... well... as far as I saw anyway.... but then again I haven't played FFX-2 yet.

I said time, but i guess you're right. Plus, if you think about it, not all races develop at the same pace, and the same could be said for FFx compared to 8. plus, there was at least a 1000 year gap between time periods of seeing Zanarkand, as advanced as it was, and then the ruined islands. If you think about it... that's alot of time that we don't know what could have happened. So i'm determining it more like that. plus, even if they don't mention it, doesn't mean it didn't exist. Secret nuclear weapons, assassins... etc. It has happened, and what's to say it hasn't in FF?

Well just to clarify any other types of order (that I have time to fulfill) here's the release order. Final Fantasy (1987, Re-released on PS in 2003 and on GBA in 2004) Final Fantasy II (1988, Re-released on PS in 2003 and on GBA in 2004) Final Fantasy III (not released in US... 1990) Final Fantasy IV (5 on SNES) (1991, Re-released on PS in 2001 w/ Chrono Trigger) Final Fantasy V (1992, Re-released on PS in 2002) Final Fantasy VI (3 on SNES) (1993, Re-released on PS in 2002) Final Fantasy VII (1997) Final Fantasy Tactics (199 cool Final Fantasy VIII (1999) Final Fantasy IX (2000) Final Fantasy X (2001) Final Fantasy XI (2002) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (2003) Final Fantasy X-2 (2003) Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (2004) Final Fantasy XII (set for May, 2006) I could continue with giving the estimated release dates for Dirge of cerberus and such but I figure all this should be fine... P.S. All release dates are North American... except for FF3 which still is yet to be released to the US. As SE thought and still thinks that it's "too difficult for american gamers"........ bastards. P.S. S. Since I never played FFX-2 I had to research a bit to find out when that was released and I found the best site ever it has info on EVERY one Squaresoft's game that they ever made. Here's a link to it! It even has the voice acting cast of both Japanese and US releases!

Many different ones from many different games made before or around that time.

Hero Of Three Kingdoms Tactics shouldnt be included since they are a completely different world all together fft ffta and ffXII all take place in Ivalice in this case i think the order is fft ffta ffXII Why would it matter if they're set in Ivalice rather than Gaia? And who's to say they aren't in gaia? Ivalice was just the name of the kindom in FFT and it was, in the true reality of FFTA, just a town. I'm not sure about FFXII but I don't think they should be set apart from the other FFs just cuz a few names of places.

Also should they be separated in my opinion yes but we all have are own. also the question was what was the time line of final fantasy so it is hard to put two seperate worlds together in terms of how far they are developed which is why i seperated FFT FFTA and FFXII
