 As Kianga grew a little bit more into adulthood, she found herself being much more independent than she used to be. She somewhat desired to break away from her controlling mother and start her own life with her own rules, but she knew that probably wouldn't blow over well. Her mother, Evita, was quite set on creating a pack of jackals. Still, Kianga didn't know how successful the whole plan would be. They hadn't had anyone join since Utundu came along... and that was before Kianga was even born. Therefore, Kianga and her two sisters were the newest editions to the pack, but they barely counted.
Her family had to face it... especially her mother. They didn't do so well at finding new members to build the pack. Perhaps with Kianga and her sisters being adults, she'd set them a job of scouting out new editions to Evita's dream. Kianga just hoped it wouldn't be her if that really did happen. She wanted to find what is all out there in the world besides Utundu, her mother, and sisters. Maybe she'd even find her father. The world had many things that Kianga wanted to discover. Mostly, to meet new creatures.
She paced to a hill of large rock and scaled them step by step. Each one got higher and higher until she finally reached nearly the top. Here she stopped and scanned the area for the next destination she would want to travel. Maybe there would be something interesting.

 Lazarus padded along, humming a military-esque tune despite not knowing anything about that part of the human world. It seemed to be a song naturally imbued in his throat, and he hummed it with pride, sometimes barking and howling the notes. Since he was alone, save from some other creatures who glared at him as he passed, he wasn't too concerned about who heard him or how loud he got.
He kept himself aware, however. Not the kind of guy to let his guard drop just because he was having a good time, he padded along with his nose to the air, his ears perked, his eyes scanning between long blinks. It didn't take him long to spot a large formation of rocks up ahead. But they didn't interest him half as much as what he spotted on top of them.
A yellow jackal.
Knowing only one creature with that color of pelt, he instantly felt his chest tighten. Bounding closer, eagerness taking him faster than his penchant for appearing constantly casual liked, he scaled a few of the rocks. Stopping about half way up, he called out a greeting.
"Why hello there, beautiful!"

Something moving caught her eye immediately from down below. Though, it moved too fast at first to make out what it was right away. As it stopped, she noticed it was green... could it be? She saw the jackal climb a few rocks and belted out something oh so adorable.
Looking at this familiar face, a large smile grew upon her own. She hadn't seen him in a while. It was Lazarus.
"Lazarus!" she giggled. Kianga wasted no time waiting and started down the pile of rocks that she just climbed. Once she reached the bottom, she gave a little hop and laughed once more. She didn't really know how to control her excitement.
Trying to settle down a bit, she stood, looking at him for a few moments, the grin still plastered to her face.
"Where have you been?"

Lazarus felt his own excitement in his muscles when she not only recognized him, but seemed eager to see him again. That was a good sign, if ever he had seen one. After all, he usually slipped from one place to the next, and had an idea that people just forgot about him as soon as he had moved on. But that didn't seem to be the case with the pretty yellow Jackal.
Grinning at her, blue eyes warm and betraying more of his anticipation than he would have liked, since it made him seem less casual and composed than he often tried to reflect of himself, he shrugged his shoulders at her question.
"Just wandering, as always. I'm never in one place for too long. But I guess I was in the right place today! You're looking well! How are you these days, Kianga?"
He could have purred, if he were a cat. He didn't know what it was about her company that made him so content, but he was glad to be reminded of it now. It felt like an eternity since they had last met up.

Kianga couldn't have been more happy to see this male again. It was quite refreshing to see a newer face beyond her family and she remembered having a nice time with him last time they had met. The best part was, he looked quite in joy over the fact that he was getting to see her again as well. This made Kianga even more pleased.
"I believe you are right about that, as well as I think I was in the right spot too," she nodded with a beam.
"Thank you! You are too and I've been pretty good I suppose. I guess I'm just in need of a little more excitement in my life, you know?" It has been a while since she got out and had fun with others besides her sisters and such. In fact, the last time she basically had some real fun was when she last saw Lazarus. It was something new... and she liked that. She wanted new.
"You definitely made my day a lot more exciting, though."

"You were indeed!" He beamed back at her nodding his head enthusiastically. For some reason he found like he didn't have to try too hard to be charming or well at ease. He liked her company, and remembered the same feeling from before. It was nice to be back in it.
"You're bored, huh?" he tilted his head, shaking it, which made it move at a weird angle. Then he nodded, because she had asked him if he knew what it was to be without enough excitement, and he certainly had. So his head ended up going in every direction, and he had to will himself to stop moving it around like an idiot.
"I did that just by showing up? I'm better than I thought I was. But for you I'm willing to try even harder. So, excitement is needed huh? Alrighty, so we find something fun to do." He looked around contemplatively.
"Let's see... there has to be something around here. Is there anything you would like to do, but think it's too crazy?"

With a smile, she nodded her head. Being with her family 24/7 got boring after a while. Kianga kind of giggled at Lazarus's bobbling head. She thought it looked silly, but to her, it made him that much more adorable to her.
"Indeed, you did, Lazarus. You don't have to try harder for me, though. You've already got my attention." To what he said next, she looked around for something and thought. What was there around here that was crazy and exciting. She couldn't really think of much. That's usually how it was around home, after all.
"Perhaps we could go swimming? I've always been scared to jump off of this one waterfall, but maybe I'll feel better with you around?"

Lazarus liked her answer. He grinned to show it, nodding. If she liked him without him having to try too hard he knew he was in good company. Wagging his tail, he waited for her to suggest something, and then let his grin spread even wider.
"Swimming? Now that sounds fun. I haven't been in the water for anything but a bath after a mud roll, and that was a while ago! I could do with some swimming."
He laughed, looking around.
"A waterfall? Take me to it, and I'll jump off it first, if you want me to. A hundred times! It's a day for over coming fears, I think," he indicated for her to lead him with his head, eyes sharp and bright, "so you'll jump with me once, and we'll call it a win."

With a laugh, Kianga nodded in agreement. It sounded like a fun day, although she was terrified of jumping off the waterfall that she was talking about. Kianga enjoyed swimming somewhat, so maybe swimming with Lazarus will make it that much better.
"I haven't been swimming maybe in a couple weeks," she laughed.
"And alright. I think I'll have you go first, but I think you are right about it being a day for overcoming fears. Is there anything you're afraid of?"
While asking that question, she started on her way to the waterfall she mentioned and only hoped this handsome jackal liked it.

Lazarus followed her dutifully, walking beside her without any show of awkwardness. He didn't mind being too overt with his obvious affection toward her. It was a great thing to be reunited, and he wanted to stick close. No harm in that.
Padding along beside her, he thought about her question in a fleeting moment of serious consideration.
"I don't know," he said honestly, "I don't think there's anything I've found in life that I'm scared of. Like. In the same sense as jumping off a waterfall, or whatever. I'll try anything once. Fear is a waste of time, most of the time. But I know it can be completely unavoidable. I just... haven't run into a situation like that yet. So I guess when I am afraid of something I'll only know about it when it's right in front of me."
He laughed at the stupid logic, looking around. He could hear the water quite close now.
"Are you ready for this?"

Kianga laughed a little. This male she seemed to be falling for, is also fearless. It was kind of soothing to know that he wasn't afraid of anything, but at the same time, it'd be cute if she could help him with something like a fear. Perhaps it didn't have to be a fear though. Maybe she could always help him with something else in the future and be his supergirl.
"I see," she said simply, with a grin.
Right now, though, he was bound to become her superman. Her legs trembled a bit at the sound of water growing near. The thing she was about to do was becoming more and more real. She didn't feel ready. Having Lazarus made it a bit better although. Especially when he was going to take the first plunge.
It was a bit unnerving.
"I'm not so sure," she replied.
"I don't know if I can do this... I'm really nervous," she told him.
They reached the waterhole where a small waterfall was. The water was clear and sparkly. The waterfall created bubbles along the ridges of the pond. This was it. They were there and she was going to do this.

Lazarus padded next to her, watching her carefully. He saw the marks of nervousness in her and parked his ears when they drew closer to the water. Shaking his head, he grinned broadly to reassure her.
"Don't you worry," he said sincerely, lacking a bit of his usual gumption in favor of a more honest tone. He nodded slowly, padding out in front of her and looking back, "I'm right here. And I'll be right down there waiting for you. Nothing's going to happen while I'm around."
And he would be damn certain that was true.
"Now don't force it if you really, honestly feel like you can't. What you should remember is that this is supposed to be fun. After all, there's no real rule that says conquering a fear shouldn't also be fun."
He led the way up the waterfall, looking out over the rocks. It was a good angle, with nothing really threatening in their path if they were to leap off. Even if the fell right at the cliff they probably wouldn't be too banged up when they hit the water.

Her eyes were glued to the water and the sight of the glistening, falling liquid that met up with it. Kianga couldn't help but think the worse. She knew how to swim, but what if she drowned anyway? Or what if she hit rocks? Or an alligator got a hold of her? All of these thoughts made her even more nervous and she was only doing it to herself.
She looked over to Lazarus. He seemed so calm about the whole idea. Kianga wished that she could only think that way about diving off of a cliff.
"I sure hope nothing will happen," she replied. She came closer to his side and nudged his neck with her nose, after he came closer to the edge. Kianga rested her head on his shoulder, intentionally not looking down.
"Alright... Just be careful, okay? I wouldn't want anything to happen to you."

Lazarus looked at her as she nuzzled him, his expression softening. He shook his head, turning and nudging her nose with his.
"Hey, when have you ever had any reason not to trust me? I promise, I'll keep you safe. You can count on that!" He grinned at her, nodding his head reassuringly. He wouldn't let anything happen to her. He was a good, brave guy and she was important to him, after all.
He looked at the waterfall, then down at the water.
"Okay, the plan was I jump first, and you see it's okay, right? Then I'll come back up here and we can jump together!" He grinned and moved away so he didn't knock her when he jumped. He took a running leap without warning, no fear, winking at her in the moment before he jumped and dove down into the water. There was a splash and he resurfaced a moment later, howling in glee.
He swam to the bank and shook himself off, running back up to where she was so they could talk about how awesome that was.

She couldn't decide if it looked fun or scary anymore. It looked a little of both, but seeing how much fun Lazarus had, it made her feel a little better.
"How was it?" she asked in a timid voice. Even though she already knew the answer to that question, she decided to ask anyway. It made conversation. It also shortly delayed the whole jumping into water thing.
She looked his wet fur over, hoping he didn't put any drop of that water on her. She hated when others decided to get her wet with water without her permission. Though, she would shrug it off since it was in her sweet personality. Diving straight in would probably be much better.
