Cooking was an art form, one which S'van greatly enjoyed practicing, and indeed he was embroiled in the midst of it at that very moment. "... Kia, no! Not into the water!" Just before the flit hit the boiling water, she hit S'van's palms with a resounding smack! "... Kiiia..." She seemed to have a serious problem with water. Poor little thing was always falling into it, and all but drowning. Boiling wouldn't be any better. "Into the apron, Kia, not the water. The apron." The Sr. Weyrling tucked his tiny flit into the front of the rather overly frilly apron that Inaari and O'asis had gifted him with, and frowned.

Hmmn. The mixture needed something, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what. Reaching over to stir the bowl, he sniffed contemplatively, trying to decide what it was lacking. "Queep!" A tiny, wedge-shaped head peered from within the pocket of the apron, eyes whirling a rapid blue-green. Apparently his firelizard hadn't been traumatized by the experience. ... As per usual. "Kia, shardit!" She was now focused on the bowl, and he tried desperately to divert her attention. Finally, he realized that the bell that she had been hoarding was in his pocket.

Bell acquired, the brownrider breathed a sigh of relief as the hatchling became far more interested in the 'toy'. She is very silly, isn't she? Galliath said with the newly acquired gravity that age had endowed him with. ... In reality, age had done nothing of the sort. He was actually just mimicking his brother, and doing a rather poor job of it. Recently, the brown had become quite interested in appearing to be mature. S'van really couldn't figure out what had brought the sudden change of behavior on, but it was sort of amusing.

In all honesty, he hadn't thought to spend much time with any of his friends as of late. Ianquith had been the center of his universe for a few days now, and he never got tired of running his calloused hands down her smooth, if small body. Of course, once she'd managed to pry that thought of his mind, she'd insisted (however meekly) that he go pay a proper visit to his companions. And she (still just as meekly) would accompany him, if only because that was the polite and proper thing to do.

"You remember Gall, don't you, Ianquith?" J'riar crooned to her soothingly, trying to think where he might find the brownrider. One place sprang instantly to mind, and he'd lead the obedient green to the kitchens. She was still small enough that it shouldn't be an issue, right? People should be used to dragons poking their noses in places they shouldn't belong!

Ah... I know Galliath, yes, of course. It is his mine we will meet today? She asked softly, hesitating by the doorway where J'riar so absently strode inside.

Don't fret, love. He thought to her, grinning as he spotted the familiar figure standing over the stove. And was he talking to himself? "Busy as ever, slaving away in the kitchens! You think they'd just give you a job here, eh?" His tone was jovial, if teasing, and J'riar had no shame in striding over to peer over the man's shoulder, eying what he was making. "And look, you knew I was coming! S'van, you shouldn't have..." With a cheeky grin, he'd back off then, clearly pleased to see his friend.

Oh dear. S'van's hand paused in the process of lowering a tuber into the boiling water. "... J'riar?" Of course it was J'riar! There was no mistaking his friend for anyone else. "Are you making designs on my food, J'ri?" He raised an eyebrow, giving his friend a rather challenging look. The look was a bit spoiled as he caught a glimpse of Ianquith out of the corner of his eye. "Why don't you bring Ianquith over here? There's some nice chopped up meat..." His hand absently traveled to the bowl of meat, and he dropped the sliced tuber into the water.

"Errr. Well, they can really give me a job here, can they?" Gaaah, why was it that J'riar almost uniformly managed to make him flustered? Shardit. Ianquith! You are here! I am pleased to see you... though I cannot see you. The latter half of Galliath's statement was slightly wistful. Since he had grown, he was unable to accompany S'van into the Kitchens. Mine will want to feed you. ... He wants to feed you. Are you hungry?

There was no avoiding the need to feed hungry things. "This is going to be a stew, I think. Well, I've got some sauce mixed together, and I'm trying to see if it tastes good like this." Did stews normally have sauce in them? Ah well. "... Actually, I don't know what it's called." He wasn't really all that good with food names but Shells at least it was likely to taste good. "Maybe an experiment." Hmmmn. An experiment that he was going to need to keep working on, it seemed.

Something about the look he was offered made his grin turn a bit wolfish, eyes lidding themselves lazily even as the young man made to stretch. "If I said yes, would I get to take a bite?" And, bless S'van for thinking of his little love, earning a murmur of thanks from the green rider. J'riar took the bowl and debated setting it on the floor--but one look from Ianquith made him idly stick his fingers in to grab a slice. She was no canine, after all, and would not shove her head into a bowl to eat!

Galliath! I am glad to hear from you again... and I am sorry. When we are done visiting yours, I will ask if we can come see you! She hesitated when she realized what the other was asking, and peered shyly around J'ri's legs to watch S'van. Hungry? Yes, she was a little bit, but she didn't want to intrude... Of course, when fingers bearing delicious meat bits extended towards him, she craned her tiny neck and delicately took them.

J'riar grinned affectionately at the little wisps of pleasure he got from the dragonet, crouched down to better feed her. "She thinks they're very good, and thanks you for 'em. ...Stew, huh? With sauce?" A small chuckle. "I'll be your test-wherry, eh? Wouldn't have to ask me twice..."

S'van chuckled, unable to resist the sweetly polite little Green. "Here, give her a bite of this," he offered, holding an even more choice bit of meat down to J'riar. She was adorable, she really was. And such a shy little thing! Poor darling. "Yes, as a matter of fact, you would get to take a bite. How does that suit you?" That had sounded like a 'yes', though, so he didn't worry himself over trying to convince J'riar to go along with things. I will be happy to see you! Galliath said enthusiastically, thrilled by the thought of having a visit from J'riar and Ianquith.

J'riar had always been very friendly to Galliath, and the growing Brown had not forgotten that. It didn't hurt that now J'riar was the rider of his very good friend (in his opinion) Ianquith. ... Lady. He was absolutely convinced that she was a Lady, and was to be treated as such. Mine, you should not make Ianquith's crouch like that, he said fretfully, worried that some of the meat might be dropped. Maybe if they had a plate? Eating off of a plate was far more dignified than eating out of a bowl, after all. Surely Ianquith would not object to that.

"I admit, it's a little out there, but... I wanted to try it." S'van shrugged a little, feeling just a bit sheepish. His experiments of late had become more and more bizarre. "Queep!" Kia declared, peering out of the front of the apron, bell firmly clasped between her forepaws. "Krrikrri!" Who was the little Green dragonet? Kia remembered a Green. ... Big Green! Not the same one? Eyes whirling a curious blue-green, she chirped and warbled at the delicate beast. "I think my flitter likes your dragon," the weyrling told his friend, grinning as he shifted some of the meat onto a plate just in case they wanted to try things that way instead.

"Kind of you," J'riar muttered affectionately, taking the bit of meat to hold it in front of Ianquith's nose. She fussed a little and made some protests that she couldn't take all of S'van's meat... but her stomach was enough to override her attempts at being polite, and she soon took that one, too. "Heh! You're acting as if I'm picky! And since I know you cook and cook well, I'll be looking forward to it." He'd grin at his little dragon, running the fingers of his free hand down her neck.

You shouldn't eat more of his food--I will be happy to share with you! Ianquith's jaws froze as though ready to drop her snack for Hers, and hesitantly started to chew again when he scoffed at her and told her to continue. Oh, no, but thank you Galliath, you are very kind... She would make do, especially since S'van had been nice enough to share with her in the first place.

"If it means I get to taste your little experiments, you won't hear me complaining." J'riar sounded amused, perking brightly at the sudden appearance of the little firelizard. "Got yourself a new friend, I see? How does Galliath like her?" He grinned and nodded at the tiny flit, watching with curiosity. As far as he knew, Ianquith liked the little things... and by the way she stopped eating and peered at Kia, he was certain he was right.

Oh! Hello... Would... Would you like to share with me? Ianquith ventured, suddenly horrified. What if this meat had been for the tiny one? Oh, oh, oh... Well, she could share! She didn't mind at all, though her eyes whirled curiosly at whatever it was the flit was holding.

“Only as kind as you both deserve,” S’van countered reasonably, flashing J’riar a faint grin. It really was rather adorable, the way that Ianquith fussed over the meat. He couldn’t help but coo over her somewhat, having never met a young Green who fretted quite so much. … Or so it seemed to him, observing her as she chewed delicately at the meat. Did she, like Galliath’s clutchmate Fuxith, have an ingrained sense of propriety, and politeness? From the way that Gall spoke of her, he believed that she did indeed. “I like feeding you. I just don’t want to give you something that you won’t enjoy.”

Mine likes to feed others, Lady, Galliath said respectfully, for whatever reason feeling the need to cling to courtesies that he did not usually employ. He will be pleased to feed you and Yours. You are more kind, he insisted. In point of fact, Ianquith was the most cultured young dragonet that he had encountered (discounting his erstwhile brother), so it only made sense that he extended her such courtesies. Didn’t it? “Shards, but he certainly talks with her enough,” S’van said, amused by his dragonet’s behavior. He wasn’t sure that he’d ever heard Gall use a petname for any of the other dragons before, either. Possibly Miith, if anyone…

“I’m glad that you like trying my experiments.” It was just as well. The average person didn’t exactly leap at the opportunity to try the new and often rather bizarre combinations that he liked to explore. “Actually, I’m pretty sure that Gall doesn’t like her. He’s not overly fond of flits as a general rule, and I think he’s only grudgingly tolerating her presence because she keeps me company when he cannot.” Primarily because Galliath was getting too big to go everywhere S’van went, a fact which did not in the least pleased the Brown. He hadn’t missed that, either, and had tried not to emphasize it too much; bringing it up seemed to only upset Gall further.

Peering down at Ianquith, it somehow occurred to Kia that she was in the presence of another baby. “Queep!” She wriggled out of the pocket, and glided down rather unsteadily to land in a heap at Ianquith’s feet. “Krriiikrri!” Her eyes whirled with a hungry orange, and she hopped forward to place a single paw on the dragonet’s nose. “Queep?” Was the dragonet offering to share? This was confusing. Green big shaped things did not share, they chased Kia away. With a curious chirp, she balanced herself on her hind legs, and attempted to examine her new friend, checking to make sure that she was not Miith.

"Enough of that, you'll make me blush!" J'riar teased, dropping his chin to bat his eyes exaggeratedly. "And trust me, I'm used to my food being mixed with herdbeast hair--I'm certain you can't sink to anything that dismal." He teased affectionately, settling more comfortably onto his rear so his knees would stop squawking at him. Besides, then he could better peer at S'van's newly acquired friend. "What's her name? And when did you get her?" He felt so out of the loop!

Oh... Lady? Ianquith seemed a little perplexed by the title of sorts, hunkering down modestly--it certainly didn't sound like a bad thing! But oh! She'd forgotten she had a guest of sorts to entertain now, giving a little shake of her head before her eyes crossed in an attempt to focus on the little paw that had settled on her nose.

"Poor brute," J'riar clucked his tongue sympathetically, craning his head back to peer at his friend. "But tell him it's a good thing, his size! It means he's right on his way to becoming the biggest, best dragon there ever was, eh? And that's good of him, letting dear old you have another companion to fuss over." He had to wonder how Ianquith would handle being separated from him when that time came. Hopefully she'd have learned to depend on herself some... but, he privately confided, he wouldn't mind if she wanted to stay his little love forever.

Ianquith was temporarily distracted by Hers' thoughts, lifting her head to peer at him before catching herself and focusing on the firelizard again. ...Queep. Ianquith responded uncertainly, lowering her head a bit more to drop some of the meat she'd taken from J'riar. We can share. She encouraged slightly, glancing at S'van as though to make sure he wouldn't mind. She didn't want him to think she was rejecting his gift!
