The Quetzil frowned, resting on his hind legs as he peered suspiciously at the shallow river. He wriggled his dexterous fingers in anticipation, rubbing his front paws together and scrunching up his nose when they stuck together.
He'd been a little too enthusiastic in his last feeding frenzy, the juices from countless berries splashing across his maw and staining his hands red. His little belly bulging, he'd dragged himself to a nice sunny rock and slept off the stomach ache that pained him. When he'd recovered sufficiently, he'd scampered off to find a nice cool drink... and... here he was.
He licked his lips, tilted his head to one side, and bounced up onto a rather overlarge rock. He leaned carefully out over the rushing river, gripping the rock's smooth surface with his hind legs, tail wrapped about the base of the rock as he perched precariously upon its surface. He crooned softly to himself as he dipped his front paws in the cool water, splashing his face and belly with the cool, refreshing liquid.
The berry juice, dried by the time spent beneath the sun's harsh rays, slowly began to wash away.

Korialstrasz padded, almost bounced, through the woods. He bounded deftly over the roots and foliage, head jerking from side to side. A mouse skittered by and made a fatal mistake of pausing for just a moment in front of Kori. In an instant, the mouse was lifeless in between his jaws, small white teeth protruding and piercing into the mouse. He crouched between two bushes and finished his meal, licking his lips clean after.
We warbled and chattered, his golden green eyes darting back and forth. The sound of rushing water caught his eye, and though he was hesitant to go towards the sound, curiosity got the better of him. He took off running and found the water. The sight of it made him thirsty and he hunched over, his curling tail in the air and his short, little arms barely touching the ground. His neck hovered over the water as he lapped up some cool refreshment.

Slytha dove into the luscious clear water, swimming deep below the surface. She looked around for the shimmer of a fish, and spotting her prey, gave chase, catching one from a school that had been swimming nearby.
She swam towards the surface quickly, holding onto the fish as it struggled to get free. Once her head was above the surface, she swam toward the shore, and climbed up the bank, resting once she was out of the water. The fish flopped a couple more times, and she sank her teeth in deeper, killing it. Once it was dead, she lay it on the ground and quickly enjoyed her dinner.
Giving a happy chirp, she disposed of the remains of the fish, and skittered along the edge of the river, looking for any berries she might find. She loved the taste of sweet berries. It wasn't long until she caught the scent of another creature in the area. She quickly ran into the underbrush and scanned the area for where the scent was coming from. She spotted a blood colored Norrora ahead, drinking from the river. She stepped out of the vegetation and gave a quick warble sound, and stood tall, indicating her presence. Her eyes were on the other Norrora, but out of the corner of her eye, she noticed another creature, quite different than herself. She'd never seen one like it before. She gave another warbled sound, and then directed a hiss in the direction of the strange one. She lowered her body into a defensive position just in case the little creature wasn't friendly.

Kori startled at the sound of another creature. He jerked his head up and just about slipped into the river, but flung himself back. Rolling onto his feet again, he looked up at the indigo norora that called at him. She had hissed at something else and crouched. Troubled, he turned to see the Quetzil behind him. He tilted his head at the lizard-like creature, making chirping noises at it. He sniffed the air, wondering why he didn't notice there were other creatures around.

Slytha heard noises coming from the other Norrora. She turned her head quickly to look at it, and gave a chirp towards it. Her eyes gleamed and sparkled in the sunlight at meeting another of her own kind. She turned her attention back to the other smaller creature, and decided it probably wasn't a threat to her, since there were two of them, and only one of it.
She stood up straight again, and cautiously made her way over to the other Norrora. She gave it a quick look over. She noticed that it looked alot like her in it's markings. She liked that. She liked things like herself.

Kori chirped and trilled at the Norora that approached him, sniffing her cautiously. He wondered what she was doing here. He knew why he was here. But her motives were a mystery to him. He cocked his head and crooned at her. His tail flicked back and forth as he waited for an answer. He tried not to look impatient despite this.
((reading the front page, it appears norora have their own language, so perhaps our norora can speak to each other? but not other species))

((I suppose they could speak to each other. Didn't really think about that.
Oh and to Apo, I'm not ignoring your familiar, only leaving it out until you post again. So, please don't take offense or anything. sweatdrop ))
Slytha sniffed back at the other Norrora. "Hi?" she said tentatively. She wasn't exactly shy, but she was hesitant when first meeting another creature. She noticed that this other Norrora was a male, which made her even a bit more nervous.

"Hello" he said tentatively, leaning so that the claws of one of his paws supported his upper body a little. He flicked his tail and blinked his gem-like eyes at her. He scratched the side of his head at a sudden itch and reposistioned his legs to lay down on his belly. His tail swept slowly across the ground, leaving smooth, small plains in the dirt, surrounded by minitature cliffs. "I am Korialstrasz..Kori-al-straz." He repeated the name syllable-by-syllable to ensure it would be pronounced correctly. Then his scaly lips curled into a pleasant smile.

She watched his actions, and wondered why his name was so long. "I like your name Korialstrasz-Korialstrasz. I'm Slytha." She returned his smile with one of her own. Then, remembering the other little creature near them, she gestured towards it. "Do you know what that funny looking little creature is?"
Not waiting for a reply, she quickly added, "I've never seen you before. Do you live near the river?"

Kori warbled in a way that sounded much like laughter. "Only one Korialstrasz" he replied to her, smiling with his white teeth showing through. He thought of each question she asked and answered them one after the other.
Pointing his head towards the lizard-creature, he told the norora, "I hear Mistress Coquille refer to such a creature as a...Quetzil..." he said tilting this way and that. Whenever he and his Mistress walked the forests at night, he heard her say that word with a pointing gesture to such lizard-beasts. She did this with many objects and creatures that they crossed paths with. He tried to do the same with her, but it seemed easier for her to associate his words than the other way around. He could only remember names and what some creatures were called.
Thinking of the other question, he looked at the river and back to her. "I live in a place where the river reaches every horizon...the beach, it is. I live in a cave there and water sometimes enters my cave. We sleep on the higher end of it." His head tilted again. "Where do you live?"

Feeling a bit embarassed at not realizing, she gave a toothy grin, and ducked her head. "Right, I knew that."
She looked over at the little creature again. "Quetzil? That's... an odd name. I wonder if it's friendly?" She turned back to him again, answering his other question. "I live in a hollow log not too far from here. I love to go fishing everyday, so I stay near the river. Maybe I could visit your home and go fishing in your big river." The possibility of new and exciting fish intrigued her, as well as seeing new parts of the land.

"Just be careful not to be washed away. Some things never come back" He told her matter-of-factly. He wasn't trying to scare her. Rather, he truly wanted her to be aware of the danger. He had often left pieces of driftwood in the tide, only to watch them be carried out to sea and never seen again. He just became acquaintances with her, with the possibility of friendship. His first non-kirin friend? He wouldn't want to lose that. He looked back to the Quetzil. "I think it is friendly. I've never tried to interact with one, really."

Slytha was happy to hear that Kori hadn't declined her a visit to his home, and took it as an invitation to visit sometime. "I would definitely be careful. I'm a good swimmer, so that should help just in case."
((We should probably let Apo post sometime soon to bring the Quetzil into the conversation.))
