“Now, look,” Tristan said confidently. “Our fingers are the same.”
Zephyrus expressed his amazement at their likeness through his wide eyes, the boy’s palm pressed tightly against his twin brother’s. Though they had done this many times since they had been “born” (if you were to call it that), it was a ritual they had kept going to make sure they were staying identical in proportion despite their differences in appearance.
The sun shone brightly through the leaves of an old oak tree, casting wavering shadows upon the family of three. Mara had taken a favourite position of hers: lying down lazily on the grass, enjoying a smoke of a strawberry cigarette and a read of a book. She made sure she was in a spot where the children wouldn’t be affected by the sweet smelling smoke. As the boys compared the sizes of their feet, Mara’s cigarette dwindled to ash. She gazed up from her book to gaze at the lush gardens spread out before her. Sitting up, she looked to her sons.
“Shall we keep going?” she asked.
The boys looked towards her, holding up their legs so the soles of their feet aligned. They locked eyes before nodding at the same time, as if synchronized at the toes.
Mara shook her head and got to her feet, walking over to the boys to help them put their socks and shoes back on. After this task was complete, Mara took the twins by the hand and led them towards the rose section of the botanical gardens.

Kodiak held tightly to Divine's shirt as the pair of them walked towards the exit of garden's rose section. The bear child wasn't exactly eager to be in a place that had potential for a large number of people, but his mother had promised to take him home if it got too crowded. The swan man pet his son's hair lightly and carried the boy from one section, heading towards another.
As they left their present location, the white haired male ended up spotting Mara and the Twins. "Hello." he greeted pleasantly, voice quiet as he carefully pet Kodi's back to reassure him.

The family of three turned their faces towards the pair in confusion, Mara slightly taken aback. It wasn’t often that people expressed such a friendly nature, especially in this city. She banished the thought, associating the gesture with the beautiful weather and pleasant atmosphere of the garden.
“Hey,” she said with a smile. “Beautiful day, hm?”
Her gaze fell upon the tiny bear accompanying him, her expression changing to one of confusion and mild surprise. Again, the question of if she was hallucinating arose; it was the first time she had seen a bear walking upright, let alone dressed in human clothes. Tristan flicked his wings, the feathered tips brushing against Mara’s leg as she was reminded of the strange occurrences that had been presenting themselves with the arrival of the cherubs.
The two brothers looked at each other before Tristan took the initiative to approach the boy. Running briskly up to them, the lighter skinned cherub extended his hand with a huge grin.
“Hi, I’m Tristan!” he exclaimed brightly.

Divine was about to smile and comment on the weather was well when there was a bit of trouble with the one he was carrying. Kodi was decidedly very awkward with people and immediately curled in on himself and tried to hide in the swan man's arms, shaking profusely.
"I apologies." he intoned to the family before them, "My son doesn't take well to new people, or sudden exclamations."

Tristan looked at the small bear in utter confusion. Usually when he said hello, a hello was said back. He looked back with uncertainty towards his brother, and then to Mara, who shrugged.
“Sorry to have disturbed him,” said Mara walking up and putting a hand on Tristan’s head, Zephyrus trailing along at her heels. “My son knows no boundaries when it comes to friendliness.”
“If I spoke more quietly,” Tristan began in a hushed tone. “Would he not be scared?”
The tan-winged twin crouched down a bit, attempting to make himself as small as possible as he tried to make himself as unthreatening as he possibly could.
“Hello,” the blue-eyed cherub whispered, loud enough to be heard. “My name is Tristan. Let’s be friends.”

Divine smiled at the boy's behavior. He was making an effort to get along with Kodi, and that was good. Petting the bear child's back a bit, the boy was eventually coaxed out of hiding enough to peer down at Tristan. His black clawed paws - clipped a good deal so he wouldn't hurt people - were nervously clutching his guardian's arm as he watched the other boy. Very slowly, he replied.
"H-hullo. I'm Kodi."

Tristan grinned broadly, looking back to Mara and Zephyrus for assurance on his course of action. Mara smiled assuredly, and the corners of the soft-spoken twin’s mouth turned upward to hint at expression of happiness for his brother. The blue-eyed cherub motioned excitedly to his brother, who warily joined Tristan’s side.
“Nice to meet you,” whispered Tristan, holding out his hand to be shaken. “This is Zephyrus. He’s my brother.”
Zephyrus tilted his head slightly to the side and smiled welcomingly.
“Hello,” he said in his normal voice, which was already quiet enough that he often strained to be heard. Echoing his brother, he followed up with a, “nice to meet you.”

Kodi smiled a bit at that. This boy had a brother too, just like he did. Only they looked much more alike than he and Kuschel did. "I've gotta brother too. He's pink."
Divine rubbed his son's back a bit and smiled over at Mara. "I'm Divine. And you are?"

Tristan looked at Zephyrus and grinned, extremely pleased that he was making a new friend. Zephyrus smiled as well, a bit nervous about the entire situation but relieved that he had his brother there to help him through it.
“What’s his name?” Tristan asked, forgetting to keep his voice down. The sound scared off some birds that flew out of the garden in a flurry of wings and squawks. This caused both boys to jump, eyes growing wide in surprise. Mara laughed at them, then turned to smile brightly at Divine.
“I’m Mara,” she said. “Mara Efremov, nice to meet you, Divine.”
She reached into her back pocket and fished out a wallet, taking out a beautifully decorated business card featuring a design of two quetzal birds. In a casual manner, she handed the man her card.

Kodi jumped and looked like he was about to run behind his mother's legs. However, the boy tried to calm himself before that happened. "K-Kuschel. His name's Kuschel." and boy did the little bear wish his brother were there. KuschKusch knew how to deal with kids who were loud - he was loud himself, sometimes - and could probably get along so much better here. "Kusch's a bunny."
Divine blinked at the offered card. "Um...thanks." the man commented, pocketing the piece. He profusely hoped she didn't expect him to return the gesture, for he didn't exactly carry fliers for Cirque de la Lune around with him.

Zephyrus smiled at the notion of Kodi’s brother.
“I like bunnies,” he said quietly. “I like all animals, really.”
Tristan nodded and smiled brightly. “My favourite animal is the tiger! Tigers are so awesome!”
Tristan continued to ramble about how tigers claws can rip through metal (not a true fact but Tristan believed it with all his heart) until Zephyrus piped in.
“I like horses,” said the other twin, gaining confidence in the conversation his brother was partaking in. The boy shifted his weight from one leg to the other and smiled at the bear, hoping he would slowly become more comfortable with the two of them.
Mara smiled slyly. “No problem,” she said, exuding confidence in her work. “I paint and do illustration; if you ever need anything of the sort, let me know.”
She looked at the roses, impressed by the garden’s variety of roses. The woman took a step towards one of the rose bushes, and lightly touched one of the stark white flowers.
“This garden is amazing, isn’t it?”

Kodi nodded, trying to follow along with all of the talk of tigers. It was kind of weird and unnerving hearing about them if they were that strong that they could rip through metal. Even for someone who was supposed to be a bear, he wasn't sure he liked the idea of a big angry cat cutting through his house.
When Tristan spoke up, the shy bear smiled. "Horses are nice. They're quite and big. We have lots of them where we live." he explained, growing at least comfortable with talking to one of the twins. Zephyrus would take some getting used to but Tristan was deemed okay.
Divine smiled, "Artists are nice." he agreed before glancing towards the flowers she mentioned. "Yes, the variety is wonderful. I thought Kodi'd appreciate getting to see all of it."
