A few weeks ago I was marching with my tuba, saying tuba because I cant spell the marching one right ._., anyways a strong wind grabbed me and needless to say I was knocked over and my mouth piece destroyed my teeth to the point I had to get braces to fix the damage. My question is simple this is my final year of marching, senior XD, and I am not sure how to be able to march with braces since I keep cutting up my lips by buzzing and I know when we add in moving the slight bouncing of the mouth piece, cheap bits, will also damage my lips.
So anyone know what I can use or you have tried to protect my lips. I have already tried wax and guards but nothing is working well

Our local music store sells a thing called the Morgan bumper. It's a little piece of plastic you fit over your braces that keep them from digging into your lips. It might work for you. If your music store doesn't have them, I think they're online in a few places. Or is this what you mean by guards?
After a couple weeks of braces, I didn't have any problems with playing. I play horn, and had braces for about 4 years.
