It seemed that this student had progressed a good deal since taking her introductory course, Raven mused as she looked over his file. Already specializing in his element? Common for one at his level, but not without merit. It made the following lesson plan quite easy for her to formulate as well. She closed the file and placed it back in her desk, muttering the spell that kept it locked to everyone else.

She knew that he wasn't late, that she was early, but she did so dislike to be kept waiting, and so she hoped that he'd show up soon.

Chath was unceritan about...taking another magic class. Why was he here? He was ...terrible at magic...even with help from Legeia...the magic study ended up becoming a make out session. His face flushed at the memory and when he finally opened the door to his class room he noticed the teacher right away.

"Hello." He announced as he closed the door behind him. He wanted to be polite as usual and so he offered her a bit of a wave and wondered briefly if he was late.

As the door clicked shut, Raven gave a curt nod to her student. "I am pleased to see you are prompt, Mr. Emehud. It would not do to start this lesson off on the wrong foot, would it?"

Taking her clipboard and a thin book from her desk, she walked over to the laboratory door and tapped the lock on it twice. It slid off the bolt easily, hovering in the air while she opened the door. The lights were already on in the lab, and the lock took its place as Raven took a few steps inside.

"Since water is one of the messier elements, I feel it would be best for you to work in an environment that is more suited to spills, until I can gauge your progress. Tell me, Mr. Emehud, how far have you come in studying your specialty?" Raven sat on one of the stool near the door, needing a pretty big hop to get up there.

He wasn't sure about his first impression with Millner. He had pleased her by being on time...he had a feeling if he had been late things wouldn't be quite the same.

He followed his instructor further into the class and he thought long and hard before he responded.

"Uh...well my first class was with Mr. Barkhelm, I've been doing it a while now..but...I will admit I am not very good at it." He confessed looking a bit embarrassed. Messier? He guessed that was a apt description of water.

Raven's eyes narrowed slightly. She had heard things about Professor Barkhelm that had not endeared him to her. "What was your core education like, Mr. Emehud? Your knowledge of the basics of magic? I understand you know some manipulation, and wish to improve upon that, but I must know if your learning had a sound foundation."

As she asked her questions, she went to the front of the room and turned a tap in the corner. Water trickled into the small sink in a thin line. Satisfied, she turned back to Chath and awaited his answers.

Balking a bit at her narrowed glance he tried to shrug it off. He was getting a feeling that his new instructor didn't like his old one.

He thought on it, recalled distinctly being late for his first class with r. Barkhelm and having to write him an essay one why one shouldn't be late to class. He had been young and naive thinking the teacher was a monster...he had grown up since then.

"Well I learned that my core magic is baised from the soul." He started, "I learned how to summon water in my second class with him..and then how to shoot it in my third." He thought on it and then recalled...he had a class with this teacher before...

"I've had..one class with you.." he continued wondering if it was a good idea to mention it. She had shown them exploding ball of crackling energy...why couldn't he recal how that class ended though....

"My knowledge is pretty basic. I can sommon water I can shoot it. I've tried independant studies trying to change it's shape. It..wasn't very succcessful."

Boy, did she have an earful for this Thomas Barkhelm. But that was a matter for another time.

"All magic stems from the soul, so knowing that that is your technique is not particularly helpful," Raven remarked dryly. "I am surprised that your other professor has taught you specifics without spending more time on grounding, but I find no fault with you in that respect. If anything, I would like to help you support your skills."

Ah, so he did remember his class with her. "I am pleased to see my class has not been forgotten. Can you tell me what you learned from it, please?" It was a pop quiz of sorts; Raven was always curious to see what her students actually took away from their time with her.

"And when you've finished that, I'd like you to do something with the water in the sink. There are no requirements, aside from doing something that demonstrates your control over the substance."

Chath balked at the sudden question. What did he learn? Honestly he couldn't recal the class well. He remembered volunteering for something and that was about it. He rubbed the back of his head feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Honestly it was so long ago...I was pretty young when I was in it. I recal the demonstration and volunteering for a task...and that's about it." He felt embarrassed and like he was disappointing his teacher.

He looked over to the basin of water and wondered if his teacher would get mad at him and tell him to leave.

Do something with the water? He moved over to it at this point nervous enough that his hand shook slightly when he dipped it towards the surface. He didn't touch it but when he drew his hand back out he had a small ping pong sized sphere of water in the palm of his hand. He knew how to shoot it. He had a very rough knowledge of how to change its shape....he figured he would look at the teacher to make sure he wasn't getting kicked out of class first.

Raven sighed and touched her hand to her forehead lightly. This student was giving her a headache already. How could he have forgotten what she had carefully taught him? If he had so little grasp over his memory and his ability, was there even a point in teaching him?

Much as she wanted to just send him away, that would only make her look bad. She had to whip him into shape somehow. "Very well," she said briskly. "Considering your lack of grounding, I think it would be best to do a review before moving on to more hands-on work. I would like you to take five minutes to write a short piece about your knowledge of magic. This can be any knowledge learned in any class, or learned through self-study, but it must be fact. When you finish, we will go over it together and I will do my best to fill in the blanks. Any questions?"

Chath dropped the sphere of water back into the basin looking a bit starteled by her briskness. So he wasn't getting kicked out of class but she definantely didn't seem impressed that he couldn't recal his first and only class with her well.

Not one to grumble or willing to dissapoint he looked a bit unsure as the lanky teen moved over to a desk and scrounged up around for paper and a pencil. He was suppose to write down what he had learned...?

Honestly he his skill when it came to magic was pretty limited, he found it very hard to weild. Still he was expected to explain what he had been taught. The more prominant information he had been given was from Mr. Barkhelm.

So he wrote up a summary of what he learned from the very strict man. The his magic was baised from the soul, his element water. How he learned to summon water from the particals in the air form a small sphere of it in the palm of his hand and how to shoot it. He hadn't mastered the ability to make it shoot through rock, but he figured that was more advanced.

He looked at the paper a bit, eyes going over what he had written before he stood back up and then handed Raven his small summary.

Raven stood motionless at the front of the room as Chath wrote, glancing at the clock when he handed her the paper. "Just before five minutes. Excellent. Even during class, Mr. Emehud, promptness is key. You do not seem to have a problem with this, but I say it to remind you- since this seems to be a review lesson," she added, making it clear that she did not forget mistakes.

She read the sheet slowly, clicking her tongue disapprovingly and shaking her head at parts. "Don't misinterpret, Mr. Emehud. Your paper is not technically incorrect, and I do not fault you for what is written. But I am... less than pleased at the instruction Professor Barkhelm has provided you with. He uses terminology that I find misleading, and his curriculum is in an order that may cause confusion should you study with a teacher with more broad education." If not a broad acceptance for others ideas.

"However, I can see enough from this to provide a basic lesson in water manipulation, if you wish to progress with what you've already learned. Now that I know what level you're on, you may perform the exercise I initially gave you. Whenever you're ready."

Chath stood looking at the woman trying to not appear worried. He had a feeling she was begginging to really dislike him. But he tried not to worry about it as he merly politely nodded his head as he listened to her dissapproving analyzation of his past magic classes and instructor.

"Ah..y..yes I would like to learn how to manipulate water better..." He agree'd that it would be a good starting point for him.

"So...are we starting from square one then?" he asked sounding a bit like he was being demonted back to begginers level of experience...though he didn't mind too much since it was a skill he wasn't very good at to begin with.

Another sigh. It was obvious that they weren't going to get anywhere until her student understood where he stood, and if her current explanations weren't cutting it, it seemed that she had to do a demonstration. Raven reached into her pocket and pulled out a short, fat quartz crystal. "This will do," she murmured, smirking. "Watch."

She muttered a few foreign sounded words, and the crystal began to glow with a soft light. As it did, several books from the bookshelf on the far side of the room flew off their shelves and over to her desk. "Consider your education like a tower," she said. A few more muttered words, and the the books began to stack against each other, building into a small tower of books. "When building, you start with the foundation, then build on top of that. If you have a solid foundation, you can have a tall, solid tower. But if your foundation is faulty..."

One of the books near the bottom vanished, and after wobbling for a few seconds, the rest of the tower collapsed. "It's still a building of sorts, but it's neither organized nor particularly tall, is it?

"In truth, I should have asked you about how to proceed. The choice is, in reality, yours, Mr. Emehud. Would you like to build on the unsound foundation that you have? Or would you like to improve your base and make the tower that you can create truly great?"

Chath looked as the woman demonstrated his current mental state when it came to using magic. Maybe having a more firm foundation would help. Couldn 't hurt anyway.

"Ah...well I would like you to teach me properly?" He asked sounded unsure of himself.

"I've never found magic...I mean..it never felt natural to me...I always have had a difficult time with it.." He continued wondering if he could get across it wasn't that he didn't understand how it worked ...it just...was hard.

"it often feels like there is a sive narrowing out the ability..." He continued before he gave a half shrug.

"I would like to do it better, perhaps with your help I can achieve that."
