Etain stood out in the open - somewhat apart from the other Nequus scattered about the valley floor - a quick glance had confirmed that she knew none of them. Hardly surprising. That is what happens when you go wandering off for long periods of time she reminded herself, not that she regretted her wandering, she'd learned a lot in her travels, seen things she otherwise never would have.
But it was still somewhat lonely to return and see no hide nor hair of anyone who might recall you. Etain had never been all that great at making friends and so she hadn't expected a large welcome home...but it had been quite a while now and still, no one. Where had they all gone?

The purple and gold Jala stood unmoving while watching the other creatures move about him. He recognized an occasional face but not many. It had been a while since he had traveled to the valley and he hadn't had much communication with anyone else to be honest. Then again he hadn't ever really had much communication with anyone. He'd met a few others here and there sure, but he hadn't actually made friends with anybody. Udi was a loner. Not really by choice but more by circumstance. Perhaps if he had traveled in areas where he might actually meet somebody then he might actually have a social life.
Taking a closer look he tried to exam the crowd, try to find someone he might know. There were a few familiar looking faces but no one he would feel comfortable talking to. Maybe he could just wander down and hope someone would notice him? Perhaps he was missing somebody?

The Golden and purple Jala as about to give up and move on to another place when across the valley a flash of purple caught her eye. Purple hides always caught her attention - given her family this wasn't exactly surprising. Taking a few steps forward - a pointless but instinctive action considering the distance between them Etain peered in the direction of the purple hued Nequus.
Was she mistaken? or did that beast really have a golden tail? Etain was fairly certain she was indeed correct in this discovery and with a quick sweep of her wings took off to investigate further. She was about halfway there when she realized just who it was - it has been a long time true, but one could hardly forget ones sibling no matter how much they changed over time. especially Udi - who was for all intents and purposes nearly the exact opposite of herself color wise. She'd always thought perhaps someone had made a bit of a mistake in making the two of them and Udi had somehow wound up with her tail and vice versa.
"Udi?"
She called as she swept in for a landing, golden wings tucking up neatly to her hide and she landed beside him.
"It is you!"

The purple Jala lifted his head at the sound of wings beating. For a moment he was blinded by the sun and what looked to be an unfamiliar shape. It was Jala, that's all he could tell. After a moment his eyes adjusted back and at the sound of her voice he recognized one of his sisters.
"Etain? Wow it's been a while hasn't it?" The purple Jala was still in a slight shock. He'd been relatively close to his family but he hadn't seen any of them in a long while, other than his father but he'd never really been very close to his father.
"What brings you here?"

Etain gave her borther a quick once over - it had been a while since she'd seen him after all. It didn't look like he'd changed much outwardly. Healthy and fit to which she was glad.
"It has hasn't it? I was hoping I'd run into someone I knew around here but I was starting to think you'd all dispersed to other places. How have you been? Have you spoken to anyone else from the family lately?"
Etain popped out the questions in a matter of seconds, she couldn't help it she really hadn't expected to find one of her siblings - sure she'd hoped to but she'd been on the verge of giving up when she'd spotted him.

Udi searched his memories. It had been quite a while since he had seen his family. How long had it been? Perhaps he had lost track of time. "Well I saw our father some time ago and I'd been with our sister Aquila Quite a while before that. Honestly though I've last track of weeks, months, probably not years but it could be possible.. I haven't had much interaction with anyone in a while." Well, there was that stallion on the beach, but he wasn't too sure on how his sister would feel about that. Then again with his mother's history he doubted anyone in his family really shunned his ways.
"Have you talked to anyone recently?" Perhaps Etain had run across some of their family, another sister or their brother perhaps. Maybe even of their mother? It had been a long time since he had spoken with Iona. He did miss her. Perhaps he could track her down after speaking with his sister first.

Etain shook her head sending the golden tassels flying as he asked his own question, it seemed her brother had not seen much of the family either - at least not recently, looksl ike everyone had scattered to the four winds. Etain told herself this was proper - that everyone had gone on to live thier own lives, hadn't she taken off to travel for a time herself?
"I'm afraid I haven't - took some time to travel and since I've been back I haven't spoken to much of anyone."
she glanced around the valley.
"Quite honestly I don't even recognize anyone else here, was about to leave and try elswhere when I spotted your purple hide"

"Really? I was actually going to head out of the valley myself when you spotted me." Udi was still a little unsure of what to say. It had been so long since he had seen his sister but the silence was almost awkward. Yes they were family but had they ever been very close? Here they were standing together again after all this time and he couldn't even come up with anything to say? It was pathetic really. Maybe he did need to catch up on a lot more than he had originally thought. The least he could do was to try to make small talk.
"How have you travels been? Have you found a mate?" He hoped the question sounded friendly enough. He didn't want to come across as being rude and prying into her personal life, even though she was his sister her business was her own. If she didn't want to say anything it was her own choice but it would be nice to know what his family had been up to while he had been away. Maybe she had found a mate, hell she could even have a family of her own now and be a mother for all he knew. Maybe he was even an uncle? Probably not, she would have mentioned something like that before hand. It was kind of a nice thought though. He did like kids, and he might even have his own family by now if he hadn't been so anti-social.

Etain if she noticed the awkwardness to their conversation seemed determined to ignore it, as though if she continued to talk as though no such thing existed it would eventually go away. It might be wishful thinking but be damned if she was going to give up talkng to the only family member she'd managed to locate since she'd come back to these areas. She however had no idea how to go about that. Udi saved her - coming up with some topics of conversations.
"My travels? Oh they were swell, I saw quite a few interesting things along the way, lakes with water so clear you can see all the way through to the bottom, with strange colored rocks and wonderful bright fish, tree's that change color with the seasons and birds nearly as big as a foal. But it was rather lonely traveling about by myself so I eventually came back here - and I"m afraid I'm still rather lonely, how about yourself? have you found anyone special to spend your time with yet?"

Etain's words brought back memories of Asad. The interesting Jala Udi had met on the beach. It seemed like so long ago and he kind of missed the fellow. That was probably the closest to finding his own special someone Udi had come. It was sad really. He definitely needed to get out more.
"Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of luck on the subject. I guess I haven't really been looking either." Then again it was also hard for Udi to find others who had the same interests as he. He wondered if his mother had had just as difficult of a time. Hopefully he would find someone soon. His life had been so lonely lately. "Do you have anyone in mind for me?" Udi asked jokingly and, somewhat, hopefully.
(((Sorry about the delay I've been all over the place lately.)))

Etain bobbed her head slightly - perhaps such things ran in their family fore it seemed she and Udi were in much the same situation, Still she cast her mind back over those she had met recently - which pretty much boiled down to Cassius that strange white and brown fellow with the curly hair.
"Afraid I've only really talked to one other since I've returned, and that was more of a passing conversation. Perhaps we can keep an eye out for each other since we're both looking but not doing so well - though i suppose it would help if we knew just what we were looking for.."
How sad Etain thought to herself that she had grown so distant from her family that she really had no clue about their likes and dislikes. she pledged to try and be a better sister in the future, you only got one family after all.

The purple Jala swished his golden tail mindlessly. What was he looking for in another stallion? Looks would be helpful. But was he really so shallow that all he could see was the outside of someone? Could he really not look past that? No, he knew he could. Looks were just an added plus. They had to have a kind heart, whether they showed it or not. Friendlieness would be helpful too. He couldn't be with someone if they simply kept pushing him away. That wouldn't do at all.
"I suppose it would be rather helpful to know what we're looking for wouldn't it?" Okay it was a rather lame response but he had to say something. "I'm thinking another handsome stallion about my age, he wouldn't even have to be another Jala." Udi thought for another moment. What else would he want in a partner? This would be someone he would want to be with a long time. Not for just a little while. Though the occasional fling could be fun. "He would also have to be kind, though he wouldn't need to show it all the time."
Who would his sister be interested in? He really should know but he didn't. What kind of brother had he been? He had hardly been there for his family. Just wandering off and hardly ever seeing them again. He couldn't even remember the last time he saw his mother. "What about you? What or who are you looking for?" Better late than never right?

Etain bobbed her head as she listened to her brothers description - some might bat an eye at the fact that he wished to find another male but with Iona as a mother most of them had been raised thinking such things were perfectly normal - and even though she had been away from her family for quite some time she did recall something to this effect. she would most certainly keep her eye out for him.
"Well..."
Etain started and then trailed off, long tail swishing as she thought about her response, of course good looking was fairly important, regardless of how vain that might sound. Etain just couldn't see herself falling for someone homely - she inwardly cringed at this thought but sighed.
"Well...a handsome stallions sounds pretty good to me too, though he by no means needs to be a beauty king either..I mean that would be nice but..you know....an a sense of humor I think, someone witty and fun"

Udi [for lack of a better word] grinned at his sister's words. "Of course, humor is definitely needed. He definitely couldn't be so gorgeous that he was absorbed into his beauty either. Or really vain." It had been a while since he had talked with his sister and he had forgotten how well they used to get along. He missed all of his family really.
He didn't really want to change the subject but he did want to know. "Have you heard much from mom or dad lately? Or any of our siblings?" Running into Etain reminded him of just how much he really did miss his family. Before he had left the herd, while he was still young, he and his sisters and his brother had a lot of fun together. After he left they hadn't spoken much and he hadn't seen them very often. Perhaps it was time for a trip back home? "I saw our father sometime back, though I can't even remember how long ago that was. It was a little while after I ran into Aquila."

Drek, drek, and drek again. It was the story of her dreking life, wasn't it? Aquila ground her teeth together as she soared above the rolling green of D'ob: she got home to find Sekhmet back safe, two new sisters, but her father gone. Acting weird. Just wasn't there one day. Drek. Where had he gone, well she had no idea, any more than she'd known where Sekhmet had run off to. At least she could be pretty sure her sire wouldn't be dashing off to the mountains of fire... Though who knew, if he'd been acting weird she supposed he might have gone anywhere.
A flash of gold caught her eye then, and for a moment she held her breath, thinking her quest was over almost the moment it had begun. No such luck of course; the Jala below her had a... a purple tail and beside that Jala was a purple bodied one with a golden tail! Sweet Jala above! Aquila angled her wings downward and swooped towards the ground and those two familiar figures that she hadn't seen for so very long.
"Etain! Udi!" As she reached out for the ground with her forehooves and cantered towards them, she realised what poor new she would have to give them in just a few moments. With that in mind though she was gladder than ever that she'd found them; the more pairs of eyes that were scanning the horizon for their erstwhile father the better.
