What a fine week it'd been. He'd met a nice young mare called Dia and spent the afternoon with her, enjoying her valley. But it was time to go one his way once more, just like he always did. A wanderer by heart and soul.
His black and bold arrowed coat shone in the sunlight, a response from frequent bathing and just not getting down and dirty all the time. The darkness soaked up the heat, radiating it around his body. His golden horn gleamed, although beit rather uselessly, atop his skull and his silver mane blew and rippled in the breeze.
Upon his face was a grin as he moved, steady and certain of himself. He would never quit smiling. If he did, he would no longer be himself and that was a loss he couldn't bear to lose.

Ever careful, the flowery female slipped through the low brush, picking her way gently as to keep from snagging herself on branches or thorns. This place was so different from home! Home at least was warm, the plants soft and lush. The summer heat here at least was something close the usual temperature of her island, though she could do without the pointy, annoying flora. And some familiar landmarks to say where she was would be nice, too.
But that's what she got for leaving the comfort and familiarity of the beach for the strange and wild land inward, she supposed. And after such a nice meeting with that wild mare, too. Should she have stayed near the water? Would it have been more interesting than a mass of green and pointy things and -
Oh... never mind!
Golden eyes wide, Leilani paused mid-step, gaze falling upon a rather familiar sight. Gold, spiral, sparkling in the sun ~ cheered by the thought of another bearing a single horn, she picked up her pace, head held high as her own tri-colored horn caught the the light.
"Hello there," she called, a smile on her face as the other came into view. Yes, it was another like her! Though this unicorn was of a dark shade and rather strange markings, the horn and tail were undeniable. "Sorry, I just seem to have gotten myself lost, so to see another, well..." she let her voice trail into laughter, a sheepish smile taking over.

Van himself didn't mind all the trees, prickly or not. He moved past them, or through them, or around them, letting their barbs drag into his coat and give him a good scratch. He'd never seen anything other than these forests in his few years of wandering. Dialga's valley had been a surprise to him. It had been so beautiful. He wondered if perhaps there were more beautiful places to explore other than this forest.
He rubbed his horn against a tree, scratching his head. It made a cracking sound as bark fell to the earth uselessly. Van lowered his head to nibble at it, but promptly spit it right back out.
That was when he caught sight of her.
His head jerked up, muscles bunched and ready. Another unicorn? A delicate pink mare at that... His gold eyes lingered over her pink spiraled horn, to the long, lion's tail and the hooves that were cloven and he smiled. She spoke first.
"Hiya. Lost? No worries. Where're ya from? I can help you find your way back there." He shot her a grin, tilting his head to one side as he pranced a little closer. Softer now, "I'm Van."

Relief washed over her to find yet another to speak to, and someone so helpful at that! She paused as he approached, a happy little smile on her face. She would always love meeting new people, seeing different creatures than those she was so used to... but there was something calming about dealing with those of her kind. Perhaps it was the simple familiarity, the fact she was raised around so many other unicorns her whole life. Whatever the reason, she was without a care in the world that she was talking to a complete and total stranger.
"An island a ways from here," she told him brightly, tail flicking as memories stirred. "But I'm not trying to get back there, at least not yet - I'm trying to get back to the beach for now." A frown marred her face slightly as she continued, "I think I'll be alright if I just stick to following the water for a while. I just... can't figure out how to even get back." It was embarrassing, she'd admit, to being caught in such a horrible position. But if getting help meant admitting to her mistakes, then so be it! She had her pride, but she also wanted to get the heck out of this forest.
Pleasantly, she bowed her head in gentle greeting at the introductions. Helpful and polite! Oh what a great meeting indeed! "It's a pleasure to meet you, Van. I'm Leilani." She hesitated for a moment before curiosity got the better of her, head titling to the side faintly. "Do you live around here or..?" Just making conversation... so long as such questions weren't considered rude around here.
