Tendaji has fully enjoyed this family trip, going new places and finding new trinkets, now if only momma would trust him to wonder on his own. The day had started off over cast and as the hours progressed it did not clear up but instead started to drizzle, it was in this weathery hazy that Ten saw his chance to sneak off on his own. He hadn’t forgotten his earlier lesson with Udo, about always paying attention to your surroundings, so with great caution, for a cub that is, he snuck away from where the family was staying dry underneath a handful of trees. He stayed low to the ground and stuck to the thick grass as he slowly explored the wet grasslands.
Gao moved forward with a purpose, he was determined to find his new name and head back to his pride an adult. He strolled along with a serious expression mostly ignoring his surrounding. He did not like that he was away from him sister and he could not protect them while they were in the rogue lands, but it couldn't be helped, they each needed to find their name. Gao paid no head to the bad weather, nor the fact that he stuck out with his mostly white pelt.
Tendaji had gotten a few yards from his family when something shiny attracted his attention. It was a stone that glittered wetly; it was gray with black flecks in it and clear ones that flashed in the little light that filtered through the cloud cover. It was in a rain drop shape, round bottom tapering to a point, but it was fairly small and even had a hole slightly below the point. “Some one must have lost it.” He said out loud in contemplation as he looked at the worked stone. “Couldn’t have been natural the hole is too small, right?” he mutters to him self while he silently wished that Huni was there to answer his questions.

Goa did not notice the cub until he was right one him and nearly walked into him. He would have, if the cub had not spoken outloud, apparently musing over a stone. "Er, hello. Sorry I nearly ran you over. My mind has wandered alot lately."
Gao looked down at the cub and smiled, "What are you doing out all alone? I did not see any boarder markings. Surely you mother would not allow you to wander freely in the rogue lands." It was Gao first time in the rogue lands at all and he was older than the cub before him, it worried him slightly to see one so young out alone.
When a older lion almost trips over Tendaji he let out a slight gasp of surprise and sat up quickly, “Darn it I did it again.” He muttered to himself, ticked that he got so sucked into looking at the little things that he finds that he blocked out everything else. The lion stood out quite a bit on the shadowyish grass lands, what with his white fur and bright marking on his back even a inexperienced cub like Tendaji should have seen him coming. When the older male started to speak Ten watched him cautiously; he seemed quite sincere in his apology and didn’t act like he would be a threat at all so Ten answered him politely and with some warmth. “I think the nearest boarder marking are a few days to the east and I’m just looking for interesting things to collect. Mom is fairly cool about us wandering just as long as we don’t go too far, if she can see us or hear us she doesn’t get angry besides she’s right over there.” He waved a paw back towards the group of trees just a few yards away.
Gao nodded and relaxed plopping down in front of the cub. “Its good your mother is near, I've been told some predators in the rogue lands are not as friendly as others. I myself have no such luck, I've been sent out from my pride on my own to complete my quest."
Gao wondered if the cub in front of him would be any help to directing him closer to his true name. "I am Gao, for now anyhow. What is your name?"

Tendaji watched as Gao sat down and he did likewise just relaxing as he said “Oh I know Mom tells me that all the time, normally when I wonder off alone but I can take care of my self, or at least I’m fast runner.” He nodded, like he was making his point when in fact he has never had to ‘take care of himself’ as he put it, and while he could run pretty fast it was unlikely that he could run faster then most unfriendly predators. ”My name is Tendaji, its nice to meet you Gao… Um what do you mean ‘for now anyhow’? and what quest?” He asked, his natural curiosity taking over.
Gao laughed lightly, "Trust me, you probably couldnt even outrun me and I am still young, not fully an adult yet. Also you shouldn't get so caught up in little trinkets, always remember to use your ears." Gao flick his ears, showing an example to Tendaji.
"As for my name it is my baby name. All cubs in my pride get a baby name. It is a name that you keep until you are close to adulthood, when you can go out on your quest to find your own name. I haven't found mine yet, but I hope I will find it soon."
Gao flicked his growing mane from his eye, "When I find my name I can go back to my pride, offically an adult and celebrate."
Tendaji just made as face and said sully “Can too run fast. And I know about using my ears, Momma taught me but just haven’t mastered the ability to pay attention to what’s going on as well as what I was looking at.” He finished sheepishly. A bird call made Ten look up and spot a low flying bird, he flicked his ears like Gao had just done in a way that clearly said ‘see I can do it too’.
“Tendaji was the name I was born with, it means ‘makes things happen’, what does your name mean? I don’t think I will change it, it fits me. Why do you have to change your name? What if you like it? What happens if you can’t find a new name? What does it take to find a new name?” In typical Tendaji fashion he started to ask lots of questions barely pausing for a breath.

Gao nearly laughed at Tendaji matter fact example of Gao mini lecture, “Its not that you are able to do it that matter's, its whether you use it."
He allowed himself a small grin, he was older and he knew more. "It will take time, but you will master it, cubs don't exactly have the longest attention spans."
His grin slowly faded into a look of confusion as Tendaji rambled on. "Er, um Tendaji is a very nice name and my name is just a baby name. It means handsome and is simple and short. Finding my name symbolizes coming into adulthood and if I do not find it I do not think I will be considered an adult."
Gao paused trying to remember all of the cubs question, "Um I do like my name but this is my quest and it is a rule, so I will find another. As for the rest of your question I am afraid I do not have answers."
Gao smiled, "What of you Tendaji? Are you in a pride? Surely you have a quest you need to complete if you wish to be considered an adult."
When Gao was not able to answer all his questions Tendaji just shrugged, “Ok, most people don’t have the answers to all of my questions.” He grinned, showing that he was use to it. “I hope you find your name soon so you can go home again, although the rouge lands are really cool I know not everyone wants to stay here.”
When Gao asked him questions Ten paused forming his answers fully before responding, “My family and I are in a pride called Simbafutaji and there is a quest that we have to do in order to be a considered an adult, but its nothing like finding a new name. Our pride collects information and when we are old enough we have to go out and bring back new information to add to the collection.” He paused for a moment then added, “I want to find some information about crafting, so I can make cool things.”
