((**Seeing as all the riders/candidates/others in Ista have all the fun, I thought it might be neat to have some dragon RP. Riders can of course communicate and whatnot but I'd prefer it if the people took a back seat for once. I mean, the riders shouldn't have all the fun, after all!))
The bronze dragon gave a massive, lazy yawn as he deposited T'loa in front of the lower caverns. The late afternoon sun was still high enough in the sky to spreads its warm beams over the heights of the Weyr, and it was something Niyath found appealing. Though he'd been roused from his earlier nap upon his chosen's request, the dragon did not feel like returning to his weyr ledge. No, today he would take advantage of the lingering heat and settle upon a vacant ledge in the heights to soak up some much needed sunshine.
Giving his great wings a mighty flap, the bronze dragon launched himself in to the air. His large, multi-faceted eyes whirled a cool blue, the dragon in no rush to make it to his desired location. In fact, with the mass-overcrowding within the Weyr, the dragon didn't have many spots to choose from. Everywhere he looked there were dragons littering the walls, if not crammed upon the ledges of their weyrs.
Hnnn. . . . Thankfully though, there were plenty of companions to settle besides, and more than one lovely green to choose from. Finding a ledge that looked to have room enough for a few more, the bronze lazily glided over on an afternoon thermal. Though there were a few pretty greens present, Niyath made no effort to be flashy or show off his prowess. There really wasn't much sense in that, as far as he could discern; if others wished to judge him on sheer ability alone, than they probably weren't the sort he wished to be around to begin with.
Settling himself comfortably upon the ledge, the great bronze gave a second yawn before craning his neck to study his nearby companions. His eyes whirled slowly, rumbling a greeting at his contemporaries and peers. My but there were a lot of dragons. . . Looking at the various colours donning the walls, soaking up the last of the days sunshine, Niyath often forgot just how many dragons and riders lurked within the place.
It is a good day to warm oneself, is it not? He questioned those nearest him, an atypical act for the bronze. Usually he waited to be addressed first, but today he was feeling particularly bold. There was no need to be rude, of course, especially as he had been the one to make an appearance and deposit himself with the others.

As a rider, M'zaji had certain duties to attend to. They weren't many, but every now and then there was a day where the bluerider was totally dedicated, and engrossed in, his responsibilities. Today was one such day. The bluerider had piles and piles of paper to look through, sort, organize, etc. He had people to talk to, errands to run- and everything, luckily, was in-Weyr. But, he was totally wrapped up in his business and had no time for Kaedrelath
But, the blue did not really mind. He could function as a solitary creature, though M'zaji's comforting presence was always felt, just there, lingering in the back of his mind. From where he lay in his weyr, Kaedrelath watching M'zaji rummage through a pile of papers. He sifted through, top to bottom, and became increasingly displeased as he came closer to the end of the stack. Obviously he had lost something. Not wanting to stick around and watch his rider's sure-to-come outburst, Kaedrelath made the decision to leave. He swung his head around to look out towards the Bowl, surveying his options. The ledges up around the Rim were, as usual, nearly full. Overflowing, in fact! It was a veritable sea of green, blue, brown, with hints of bronze here and there.
His sides heaving in a massive sigh, Kaedrelath decided that maybe if he got closer, he could pick out a spot. Spreading his wings, he threw himself off his ledge and swept his wings down. The mighty sweep lifted him higher, and the blue kept rising. Higher and higher, until he found it! An empty spot! Warbling delightedly, the blue hovered while looking to a bronze for permission. The bronze was occupying part of the ledge, and had been there before Kaedrelath. Therefore, courtesy dictated that the blue ask before he simply deposited himself beside his larger brother.
Would you mind some company? Shards, these ledges are packed and this is just about the only open spot I've seen! Kaedrelath said, coloring his language with an oath to make his point. And, as you said, it is quite the day to warm one's self under the sun, the blue quickly and readily agreed. It was, after all, why he'd come up to the ledges!

Haanyath, being an early riser, had managed to secure a ledge in a prime location. Up high, where she would warm quickly and stay that way, she was...content. Happy would be too far a stretch. Angry Haanyath didn't really do 'happy'. Her rider was...doing something. Haanyath forgot what that was exactly. It wasn't a big deal. If T'ka needed something, she would ask, so for now, Haanyath sprawled out, drifting between conciousness and sleeping, her eyes a soft blue, and half lidded.
She had been extra, extra moody as of late. Being young, she was coming near the time when she would make her first Flight. As such, her temper, already poor, was constantly flaring up to an extreme degree. Calm moments like these were becoming rarer and rarer. She sighed, blinking a few times, and stretched out a little, quite content to go back to sleep.
She hardly noticed someone new showing up. Why should she care, as long as they didn't try and bully her off of her ledge? She was quite content to ignore the bronze...until he intruded on her solitude. She felt a twinge of annoyance. Really, why was it so neccessary to be social? She was trying to enjoy herself. Alone.
<> she replied, not moving or stirring, least of all entertaining the bronze with a glance. She had her own needs to attend to. With any luck, she would be back to sleep soon. She was mildly pleased with herself for sounding so sophisticated. She'd heard Hers use that particular phrase just this morning, and now seemed to be the correct time to implement it. Hopefully it made sense. Haanyath wasn't quite sure was 'subjective' meant.
She didn't notice the arrival of Kaedrelath. Were she paying him attention, she might have remembered him...somewhat. Haanyath's memory was not terribly keen, even for a dragon's. As it was though, she was hardly paying any attention to anything but herself, the sun on her skin, her wings, the warmth of the stone beneath her... it was nice.

On the opposite side of the newly arrived bronze from Haanyath, Khunoth was sunning with positive zeal. The day had started early for him, and for his rider as well, so he hadn't had the chance to sun properly until a few hours ago when they had finally returned to Ista. Pale as he was, his hide didn't absorb as much of the sun's rays so he was making a great effort to remain as still as possible, with his wings half unfurled around him to maximize his surface area. It is. Hopefully no clouds will get in the way. The brown replied to Niyath somewhat sleepily. - - - - - Ruinnth, being of a darker hide, did not exactly like subjecting herself to the burning midday sun. Often she would rise early to catch the morning rays, or wait until the heat of the day had passed before ascending the heights. Today was the latter, and she was one of those already resting when Niyath and Kaedrelath arrived. Though she was next to Khunoth, she didn't know the young brown very well, and hadn't spoken so much of a word to either he nor the dragons on her other side. Khunoth didn't appear to mind the silence though, so Ruinnth let him be. Niyath, however, was a dragon she was duty bound to become familiar with, so she craned her neck around to trill a light greeting as he landed. A very fine day, and greetings to you Niyath!

Meridoth had been overseeing Jevasi's tinkering on her special project today, but now that the woman was off with the finished project for approval, she felt free to do some socializing. She dove off the ledge and amed for the ground first, employing one of her favorite tricks to gain height. Go down first! She snapped her wings out just before touching ground, zooming back upwards almost as fast as she had headed down. She zipped past her weyrledge and went soatring up to the heights.
She scanned the ridges for her weyrcompanion, spotting her with another green, a bronze, a brown, and a blue. Giving a bugle of greeting to her friend, she kept her wings spread and slowly drifted towards them, taking time to admire the boys. Fine specimens indeed! She twirled her tail a bit and angled her wings, delicately setting herself down neatly between the bronze and blue. Being small for a green definitely had its advantages sometimes.
Hello boys, she crooned, giving them both equal looks of admiration. She folded her wings and sashayed forward a few steps, her shoulders swaying gracefully, before she laid down, forelegs stretched before her. Enjoying the view? Her tone was arch, the her expression was serene as she gazed across the bowl.

The bronze dragon was pleased to be in the company of his peers. Though there were many dragons he didn't recognize, he did notice the dark green hide of Ruinnth. Though he had heard some dragons and riders talk about the strangeness of a green at the head of a wing, Niyath honestly didn't understand exactly what the issue about her colour meant. She was a dragon, after all, and she would fight Thread as soon as it arrived. . . So why did some think it odd?
Well, to each their own. Though the dragon enjoyed listening to news and watching the Weyr and its occupants through a lazy eye, he often didn't give too much thought on such politics. From what he knew, Ruinnth and Her's were a good team and he was happy to be in their wing.
Turning his gaze happily upon, first the young Khunoth, but then the lovely green, he rumbled once more. I agree. Clouds are only good for a cooling rain, but as that would take away the sun, I do not wish for it now. Ah, the joys of dragon logic. A good day to you as well, Ruinnth! You're looking lovely in the sun this day. So he couldn't resist complimenting the ladies. . .it was in his nature (he was a male, after all) but unlike some dragons, he didn't make a huge show of it and he was quite sincere in his greetings.
Though he might have offered the same greeting to the dozing Haanyath, the green seemed quite still and possibly asleep. The bronze wondered how a day sunning oneself could be anything but good, but decided not to argue. It was too much work to question, and instead he turned his attention on to the newly arriving blue.
My but he had chosen a popular ledge. . . though the reality of it was every ledge seemed occupied by some form or another. Crooning at the blue, Niyath moved over to allow the dragon room. Please, make yourself comfortable. He insisted, a bit surprised at how the blue thought to ask. Dipping his head at Kaedrelath, he wanted to make sure the other understood that he was quite welcome to do what he pleased. . . at least around this particular bronze.
It is getting more and more difficult to find any spot to sun, and all the good ones get snatched up so early. At least the sun shines freely on us all and without limit. Sometimes feeding was difficult, with so many dragons competing for both the penned up animals and the wild prey around the Weyr. He was having to fly further and further to eat, or so he thought he remembered.
And, just when he thought there were no more, another green dragon approached. Crooning gently at Meridoth in greeting, the bronze couldn't help but be pleased by such company. Three greens, each a lovely specimen in their own rights, and a good-spirited blue and brown. He couldn't have picked a more amicable spot if he had tried. . . It is quite lovely. . .and you might only add to it. He rumbled amicably, eyes whirling a bit brighter.
Yes, it would be a good evening. . . Now that first greetings were over, the dragon could settle in to a more relaxed atmosphere. He honestly wasn't used to conversing with so many, it was a bit strange for the bronze. . . usually he listened to others and let them do the chattering.

Flattered, she did have a sense of pride after all, Ruinnth arched her neck a bit and leveled a look at Niyath that was both speculative and appreciative. Had she been human, the green would have been hiding a girlish smile behind her sleeve, but as it was she only bobbed her head. That is very kind of you Niyath, thank you. As with everything about the elegant green, she was both completely sincere and completely bemused by the situation. Her rider took great pains not to think about the complications that were sure to arise following their promotion when she thought Ruinnth would be listening. Ruinnth, however, was ever the one who soothed the young woman through her nightmares in the night, and the green knew only too well that something was bothering her. She hadn't yet put two and two together, but that could only be explained through the effort Lyveana put into making sure she never faulted her dragon for not being something else... some other 'appropriate' color. When queried, all Lyveana ever said was that whatever they did, they would do it together. That simple logic placated the green, who's thoughts had already swept past the trials that Lyveana had outlined for them in the coming weeks. Ruinnth did have excellent memory, but her ability to grasp far future concepts was severely limited... so she relied on her rider for such things. Now, though, she was completely at ease and in good company. Even Meridoth had arrived! - - - - - -
Drowsy as he was, Khunoth roused himself enough to rumble his agreement about the good qualities of clouds, but quickly replaced his head back along his forearms, where he simply watched the older dragons with a distant interest. The green next to him apparently knew some of the others. Though she hadn't even tried to speak to him, he couldn't say he was troubled by it. Khunoth, after all, liked his quiet time thank you. Meridoth's arrival proved to be a tad more interesting then he expected, though. He'd never been the type of dragon to dwell on the females, but her excellent aerial maneuverings and adept landing definitely caught his interest.

Oh bother. Why were so many others showing up? Didn't they realize that she, Haanyath, was trying to sleep. Groggily she opened her eyes, lifting her head a little to glance around at her company. She yawned, extra sharp teeth flashing in the sun. Haanyath was teased often about how her overdeveloped muscles, claws and teeth were compensation for her small size. Haanyath didn't think much about it other than it making hunting easier. If swooping in and plucking something out of a pen could be called hunting.
She sat up, sighing, grumbling to herself as she scratched her face. She sneezed, ceasing her itching, and shook her head. She was slightly irritated that there were so many other females here. Coming so close to a flight, she wanted all the boys to look at her. These other greens were stealing the attention that she felt should be given to her.
But it was also agaist Haanyat's nature to be flirty. Or in any way feminine. She was...blunt. Headstrong. Rough. Capturing attention in a positive manner wasn't something she was good at. But what to do? She felt a flicker of both frustration and annoyance that she was unable to act in the manner of her choosing. Fortunately for her, Khunoth was here. And if there was one thing Haanyath loved in life, it was to harass her brown sibling. <> she teased, but not too harshly. She was still in a -relatively- good mood. But she was jealous. There was an unmistakable hint of acidic envy in her tone. It irked her that the other greens were getting looked at. It wasn't fair!
Recognizing Kaedrelath, she acknowledged him in particular with a little whistle. She couldn't recall him very well, but she knew him from...somewhere. <> Maybe something really was wrong with Haanyath. It wasn't like her to be so nice. Well, maybe she wasn't being 'nice', but she was behaving better than usual. On a normal day, she would have demanded to know where she had seen him before. Maybe it was a mark of her approaching flight, that she would take the time to be nice to a male. If she tried hard enough...maybe she could get some positive attention after all. It remained to be seen if her temporary kindness would extend to other females.

From his own nice, but decidedly less desirable sunning spot by the lake, Fuxith turned his head to peer up at the conversing adults. Eyes whirling rapidly in interest, he debated interjecting himself into their conversation. He didn't want to be seen as rude...but oh, did he want to know what they were talking about! Sitting up on his hindquarters, he flared his wings out in an attempt to make it appear as though he was simply trying to better catch the sun's rays.
Good day, glorious ones, he finally said, his mental tone soft and almost meek.

Meridoth let her lids slide half closed with pleasure, raising her face to the sun. She cast a sideways smile at the bronze, arching her neck just slightly. Why thank you, she crooned back. Her tail gently swayed back and forth behind her in a sinuous curve that just happened to stroke first the bronze, then the blue, to either side of her.
Ah yes, this was wonderful. Nestled between two handsome boys, basking in the sun and their attention. The dappled green didn't mind a bit that other females were nearby to have to share their attention with. All that mattered to Meridoth was that they noticed her, and that she got to flirt.
This did not mean she didn't like socializing with the other girls either, though. She peered around Niyath to see Haanyath. She and the brown beyond her were both recently grown. Meridoth didn't have much to do with babies, but liked to give the young adults credit for being adult, and thus not a bother. This particular green, however, she had heard was known for being particularly grouchy. She tipped her head thoughtfully. She seemed civil enough, so Meri trilled a polite, genuine, but somewhat non-personal greeting, merely an acknowledgment of her prsenece. That seemed safe enough without offending.
She angled her neck though when someone from below seemed to address them. There sat an adorable, half grown little blue, trying to look grown up. Meridoth gave a small snort of amusement, but turned her head away. Younglings simply didn't interest her. It was just as well that greens never clutched, since her lack of maternal instinct would have become problematic if she had.
She returned her gaze to the blue on the other side of her. Do you prefer morning or evening sun? she queried. She cast a look back at Niyath. And you? Which do you like? Her tone wasn't quite as arch as last time, but an amused twitch of her wings and eyes that swirled a bit faster invited him to take her question a different way. Truthfully, she liked to know more about the males she met, particularly if it made it easier to find them another time.

Earlier that morning Quinnel had grabbed her pipes and wandered off, muttering to herself. Seeing as how Quinnel seemed to be headed into the Weyr, Mud the Flitt took it upon himself to look after her for the day, leaving Winath free unless her rider called. So, Winath had decided to sun herself. The ledges having been mostly empty at the time, Winath had managed to claim one of the lower ledges for herself and promptly fell asleep.
Now the little Green stirred, opening her swirling eyes slowly. With a yawn she stretched her wings, lifted her head, and was met by a surprise: the ledges were crowded! How she had managed to keep her space for as long as she had, Winath wasn’t sure, but she wasn’t keen on sticking around and getting crowded out or being forced to rub wings with some of the larger, scarier dragons.
Standing, she spread her wings and took to the air, her glide having a slight wobble to it, but nothing drastic. Winath was grateful for that, and for the fact that she only stumbled one step on her landing, not wishing to look sillier then necessary in front of the older dragons. Approaching the lake, she carefully made her way past a familiar blue as she made her way to get a drink.

Cavaruth stuck his nose out of his weyr and peered around slowly seeing that many other dragons had made their way to the various ledges as the riders busied themselves with other things. His rider, A'ras had settled in for a nap leaving Cav free to make use of his own time and since the day was warming up already, he decided that the lake would be much preferred compared to the outer ledges that were already quite occupied.
Taking to the air he let the hot air rising from the bowl help give him a little lift as he gracefully descended down and around to the lake. He nimbly manouvered himself over the water and hovered a few brief moments at the water's surface before letting his feet sink in and soon the rest of his large body.
"Ah...so good." he exclaimed sinking in the middle that was deep enough to cover most of him. His head flattened out against the surface of the water as he spread his wings wide looking a bit like a blue raft. Eyes whirling in a content shade of blue, he glanced around to see who else was at the lake.
There he spied a small green wobbling to the water with an attitude that almost seemed timid. So many large dragons all around, he supposed it was possible to feel intimidated although, he had never felt that way in his life. He floated just a little closer reaching a point where his feet actually touched the bottom of the lake.
"Hello, young one. How are you this fine day?" he asked with a gentle tone hoping not to scare her. His larger nose tilted just under the water for a moment blowing bubbles out of his snout with his air.

Kaedrelath hovered in the air a moment longer, not wanting to crowd the bronze and the ledge he was on. But after obtaining a welcome to land and chat, the lanky blue settled himself next to Niyath with a rumble of thanks. Thank you, Kaedrelath remembered his manners. One thing the blue would never shirk on was his social skills.
That is a very true statement, the blue readily agreed with Niyath, a rumble tickling his throat. As over-crowded as we are, there will never be so many of us that the sun is a precious commodity. Kaedrelath shifted his wings, extending them as far as he could without infringing on any other dragon's space. He wanted to soak up as much sun as he could while in such fine company. He swung his head to peer at each other dragon in his company. Three greens, two blues (including himself), a brown, and a bronze. Kaedrelath quickly amended his count to include the two weyrlings too young to fly up and join them on the ledges.
He peered at Meridoth for a moment, but refrained from addressing her. She was a tad too flashy of a female for his liking. Kaedrelath was not the type to be overly-interested in females, anyway. He participated in his fair share of flights, but he was by no means a ladies man. But Haanyath captured his attention; swinging his head around to face her, Kaedrelath inspected the smaller, younger green for a few moments. His eyes whirled quickly, a predominant mixture of blue and green interspersed with a bit of yellow. I believe your rider knows mine, Kaedrelath responded to her amicably. I'm Kaedrelath, my rider is M'zaji. You were shelled not too many turns ago, correcT? Perhaps we searched your rider? Kaedrelath suggested, feeling as though he knew how they had met- but couldn't quite put his talon on it.
His attention was snatched away from Haanyath rather suddenly, in the form of Meridoth's intruding question. Kaedrelath snorted in displeasure, but quickly schooled himself to be stoic. Sun is sun, he said simply, moving his shoulders in a gesture like a shrug. He shuffled his feet and readjusted his position, unsure of how to react to Meridoth's tail stroking him. The blue decided that the best course of action would be to simply ignore it- so he did.

{{If the font is too light let me know.}}
Winath had seen the Blue in the lake as she approached, but had decided that his distance did not make him a concern. Alone – or, as alone as one could be in a crowded Weyr – Winath was content to drink and bask in peace. At least, that had been her intention when a voice startled her. Looking up, she was surprised was surprised to see that the Blue had gotten close and was looking at her.
‘ Good afternoon.’ She said politely. Blues were not quite as scary as some other dragons, but nevertheless Winath made sure to mind her manners. ‘ I am well, thank you. I was merely enjoying the sun, though I think I’ve had my fair share.’
A bit more information then necessary to seem social, perhaps, and too vague to be truly informative, but Winath had felt it unwise to bare her soul to a stranger, so had gone for what she hoped was the middle ground.

As Cavaruth expected from watching her, just a little bit stiff...and not very sociable. But politeness was always appreciated by the blue as he lifted his head a little further out of the water. Ah well, sometimes it took awhile for little ones to gain their wings.
It wasn't hard for the blue to see that she wasn't sure about what she should say to him so he kept his words to simple introduction to see where conversation would go. "Yes, there is plenty of sun today. And so many of us soaking it up it seems. It's a pleasure to meet you, young one. I'm Cavaruth and while not with me; my rider A'ras would find it a pleasure to meet you as well."
